Dennis Waterman dies aged 74: Actor best known for roles in Minder, the Sweeney and New Tricks passes away at his home in Spain with his wife by his side
Legendary TV actor Dennis Waterman has died at the age of 74, his family has confirmed. Waterman was one of the most popular television actors of the 1970s in 80s, starring the The Sweeney, Minder and Life and Loves of a She-Devil. In more recent years, he starred in BBC's New Tricks alongside veteran actors Amanda Redman, James Bolam and Alun Armstrong. In a statement, his family said he died today with his wife Pam at his side. They stated: 'We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis passed away very peacefully at his home in Spain. 'The family kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time.'
Pete? Is someone having a laugh or just being thick, probably the latter knowing Kay Burley
Pete Waterman is a record producer/songwriter. To my knowledge he never appeared in Minder, or The Sweeney. And is still alive. Although he is around the same age as Dennis.
None of the other actors beside Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta and one other, knew this would happen. So the reactions are genuine. After the scene Martin Scorsesce went up to Joe Pesci and said that was scary. Joe Pesci replied: "Scary how?". Everyone on the set cracked up laughing nervously.

The Goodfellas was standout, the bit where the gangsta wouldn't die in the boot of the car was surreal
