basing it on,the number of uk players who play online poker each night matt, would wager that well less than 10% of them are playing bounty hunters, rather than normal nl mtts, if that was not the case, most sites would have more bounty hunter mtts than they do. just think a more even spread of games would attrack more players from other sites, just my opinion,
Yeah, I get your point and I too would prefer less bh They are very popular on sky though and that is way there are so many.
Matt is right, which is unusual. Often people ask for deep stacks on the forum. Sky put them on and they get 15 runners and miss guarantee. The same goes for plo8 mtts and freezeouts Sky then put on a bh and they beat the guarantee pretty much every time
There has been a large move towards bounty hunters or progressive knockouts on other sites. I think you are way off by saying less than 10% of online MTTs are bh/ko/pko these days.
Freezeouts without antes are pretty dull for most recreational players. Also not sure why sky would want to try and compete in the freezeout MTT market when they have a niche, even if it is one that other sites are moving lots of their games towards.
jac/matt I like playing on sky poker [ime not trying to criticise it] on nights I play online I normally play between 10 and 16 mtts, normally only 2 on sky main/mini if there was more choice I would play more games on sky,
ps is there a reason sky cant have freezeouts with antes?

How do you know how many people are playing online Poker each night in the UK? Most sites have global player pools.
I really can't be bothered tearing your 10% 'stat' to shreds because I have better things to do than debate made up figures.
The important part - Would a more even spread help? Yes and no. Reintroducing freezeouts has been tried in the past and failed, because most recs would rather keep hold of their £33 and play the BH main the next night instead.
As part of the regular schedule, same problem, tons of people just don't bother with them - I have no idea when the guarantee on a regular Sky freezeout was last increased.
It's important to get the right structure if freezeouts are introduced to the schedule, and I would suggest that starts with probably turbo structures so people aren't playing for 4 hours to win nothing, and antes to encourage more action so that games don't just become all about nitting up and waiting to cooler people.
pingu, maybe the numbers I quoted are not correct, though I wouldn't be far out imo. ime on many forums and in contact with many poker players, and when poker is being discussed ,very few ever mention a bounty hunter mtt,the reason for that is they don't play them. but feel free to tear my 10% apart lol

Surely you have seen lots of posts on 2+2 with players complaining about there being loads more ko and pko in the online schedules?
Using it as an example as I have it open, just by scanning the party lobby (red target symbol means it is easy to see pko) you can see your less than 10% is well out.
Microgaming is the only major site that I know of that hasn't embraced BH tournies (know you play there too) - even tho they have the capability as they had some during their recent series.
I fully expect within 18 months that it will be closed down as a network.
BH is the future and there is a gap in the market live for a operator to have a big live PKO comp. I really think that SPTs should go to a £300 with £200 in the prizepool and a £100 bounty with £50 being the head prize and £50 added to the bounty. So many tournaments are the same now it would be a nice change. A bit of extra work for the floor/dealers with making sure the bounties are correctly assigned but I think its worth it.
if you were to go and look at most of the sites matt, count the players sitting at the nl mtt,and count the players sitting at the bounty hunter mtts ime sure it would be about 9 to 1 in favour of the non bounty hunters, the reason for that may well be that the ordinary mtts vastly outnumber the bh mtts available. so unless sky know better than all other sites out there and are right and the rest are wrong, theres much more players wanting to play non bounty hunter games,
there is a market for bh games [and as you say it is growing] other sites see that and add them to their schedule.
but the vast majority still want to play ordinary nlh freezeouts or rebuys, and I don't see why sky don't try and get those players, yes its hard to compete with the big companys, but no excuse for not trying,
yes scotty you are right about microgaming no longer existing shortly [well not made up of separate skins, will be just one big company] people prob thinking ime having a dig at sky,ime not, they have got lots of good things going for them ,and I would like to play here more, and being selfish I would like to see more non bh mtts,so that I could play more on sky.
You see, that’s more to the point. You don’t like bh. It doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone as you suggest. I think that Sky would probably prefer to have more freezeouts but they have to go with the figures

Really think your views are outdated and doesn't reflect what recreational players (who make up the majority of players) want or numbers on sites. Maybe 5-10 years ago players just wanted freezeouts but times change. Most entrants in any single MTT in the party lobby I am looking at is for a pko so dont see how that works with your 10% you are so sure on.
To be fair to Sky they do try every so often to introduce non-bounty hunter tournaments. Earlier in the year they made some changes to the software and tried out Dealer Stealers, think the £11 one was at 20:45. It started off ok, but the numbers dwindled, the guarantee was reduced, but still missed the guarantee. As the others have said, Sky have all the stats and have to go with what people are going to play, which is mostly bounty hunters.
A friend of mine has just started playing the bounty hunters on Sky and he loves them, even if you don't make the cash you can still get a bit of a buzz from knocking someone out and getting a bit of your money back. Also reduces the variance.

Players on the forum often ask for more non bh games but they always struggle for numbers.

All the best.
