It's even less logical to be stubborn and give Stars $300 because you're unhappy about it.
I don't like the KYC process either, but it's not Stars' fault. They're just following rules given to them by regulators that say "If existing customer from before introduction of KYC does X, ask for KYC".
I had to send Stars my documents too because I wagered over $2k while clearing a casino bonus on there. They're not picking on you or anything like that lol.
Send the bare minimum documentation like I said above. Utility bills and bank statements you can send a PDF. Card you only need the last 4 digits showing usually. Driving license is easy.
Get it over and done with. You can always keep it stored somewhere in case it's needed again by another site in the next couple of months.
I sent them copies of my posts to keep them in the loop and they just sent me an email suggesting they are seizing my funds, but the email is unclear on whether they intend taking legal action.

This one was sent by Kevin, it would appear Carolina is now out of the picture.
Are they doing ok? Maybe they are going skint? Why are they desperate to rob my money?

Haysie, just comply and give them what they need. It really is no big deal. Stars or the CS person doesn't care, quite rightly as they are just following the rules of the UKGC.
The only person who is getting inconvenienced by this is you,
Maybe we'll get the new software For the umpteenth time, the software has crashed during a cash game and when I restarted it, it made me chase the log in screen around the screen until it told me my account was locked. Meanwhile I was blinding away on the table Ridiculous!
On the bright side ,stars taking over skybet could be a good thing as the people running it just now can't be trusted.
Mate have you any knowledge of how Amaya are destroying online poker this is a very very bad situation for everybody connected to sky (staff and players).

Thanks for clearing that up after i had posted i kind of thought i had gone off at a tangent,
I have just had a big row with them. They insisted I supply them with, a utility bill, photographic id, 3 months bank statements, and a photocopy of the front of my credit card. This came out of the blue, and was apparently due to a standard security check. I refused to provide the documentation, and asked them to close my account. They agreed to do this, but wont send me my account balance until I provide the documentation. So I cant get my balance, luckily I had withdrawn $4,000 dollars just before this occurred, and my balance was around $300. Which I am still owed. I had visions of me, after something had gone wrong in my bank, having to say to them, oh yes I did supply all this documentation to a poker site, and look a complete idiot. Incidentally, during the period that I have been a member of Pokerstars, I have owned the same house, had the same bank account, and used the same credit card. There was a previous incident in 2009 where one of my work colleagues who was abroad, asked me to place a bet for him. He asked how he could get the money to me. He had just started playing poker, and I thought he had joined Pokerstars. However this was not the case, but he didn't tell me, he subsequently joined Pokerstars and immediately transferred the money for the bet to my Pokerstars account. They saw this as suspicious, froze my account, and insisted on me supplying all the above documentation at that time. I complied without thinking and continued to play on the site. At that time all this documentation was exactly the same as it is today. They have been absolutely intractable on this. The have said that all poker sites act in the same way which is patently untrue.
Seen a few people raise this ‘problem’ with stars, including friends. Just upload your documents haha and the situation is over 😂 I’m confused

I see that Amaya have a chequered history. Which begs the question how are they still functioning? And also, running on that chequered history, is it time to bail from Sky Poker?
I know very little about what's gone on in the past regarding the Stars Group (Amaya) but this alarmist thread is giving me the heebie jeebies!

I am sure there are others who may wonder what the fuss is. My take on it is as follows...
I wouldn't worry about the security of your funds. Stars - when they purchased Full Tilt - gave the Full Tilt players their money back. If Stars had not taken over then there is every chance that Full Tilt players would not have received their funds. They are 'above board' and appear to be very stable financially. The way Stars has been run since then underlines - to me at least - that they did not bail out the Full Tilt players for any noble reasons. Instead, Stars just wanted to exploit this situation and increase their share of the market.
To me where it goes wrong is that Stars appear more money orientated than they need to be (understandable I guess) and appear to care far far less about the poker community and what is 'good for the game' than their bottom line (despite their protestations to the contrary), see Daniel's More Rake is Better video for further details, cringe! Stars also seem to have a blatant disregard for their highest rake contributors.
A few years ago they gave notice that they were doing away with their old (and very popular) rewards system. They also withdrew their Battle of the Planets SNG promotion, introduced more and more hyper turbos and across their poker offerings as a whole rake gradually rose. Rather than embrace their highest rake generating players Stars appeared to turn their nose up at them. They wanted the site to be filled with recreational players so that the 'sharks' were not taking money out of the 'poker eco system'.
This might not sound that bad, but again, Stars motives appear to be less than pure. Their vision appears to be that if there are loads of recreational players, and rake is higher, then not as many players will regularly win and withdraw funds. Instead, the players overall will just sort of shuffle money back and forward to each other via the games and be continually 'raked', therefore the house wins. The problem is that the allure of regularly winning and withdrawing is what motivates a certain demographic of poker players, a demographic which includes many losing players.
Some might suggest that this kind of mentality might not look out of place in a casino. Funny that because their games seem to take on more and more of a virtual casino feel with each passing year. There is the new rewards system for a start with lots of 'flashy things' and 'prize chests'. Then there is 'The Deal' which is another way of diluting player rewards, not to mention new game offerings in which you can literally 'zap away' cards from your opponents hand.
Poker has turned more and more into a gimmick under stars direction over the last few years, a gimmick in which 'the house' wins an ever increasing slice of the pie. If you do not care about the skill element of poker and do not mind paying more rake then you might enjoy it. If on the other hand you are more of a purist whom - even if not a winning player - have the mindset that one day you might be and you value the skill element in poker... Well, you might not appreciate the ever more strengthening stranglehold that Pokerstars is taking on the online poker game.
On the back of the news I wanted to give an update as to where we are currently.
Right now the deal is not 100% signed and until it is it is very much business as usual. We expect to know more in July/ August but until then we continue to operate as we are. After that there are of course some decisions to be made. None have been made as yet but once they are we will of course keep all our players updated.
I appreciate that this may not help very much but Sky Poker will continue to operate as it is for now. We are currently planning our promotional mix for the rest of the year and I am currently focused on improving the performance of our download client.
I like to think that we are very transparent both on the forum and when we meet players at SPTs etc and we will continue to be so. We will answer questions that we know the answer to but right now we have as many questions as you do.
