The Londoner: Jeremy Corbyn ponders leadership exit
Senior members of the shadow cabinet have told The Londoner that they understand Jeremy Corbyn would like to step down as leader of the Labour Party. The sources say that a number of those around the leader are also of the view that Corbyn, who is 70 in May, would like to pass on the reins of his surprisingly successful socialist project. One member of the shadow cabinet told us: “He’s tired and fed up.” Another: “Corbyn is ready to step down. He wants to step down.” The talk comes as Corbyn has come under increasing political pressure over his handling of the anti-Semitism crisis and Brexit. Although a fit cyclist and teetotal vegetarian, Corbyn is known to survive long days with naps and takes days in lieu if he works on a Sunday. In 2017, he stressed the importance of work-life balance and said he would not give up his allotment if he became PM. “There’s a need for everyone in life to balance what they do, however stressful or important their job is”.
Brexit: Theresa May to discuss next steps after Bercow ruling
Prime Minister Theresa May will meet her cabinet later as she considers her next steps on Brexit, after her plans were thrown into doubt by the House of Commons Speaker, John Bercow. Mrs May had been considering a third vote on her Brexit deal, which has already been rejected twice. But in a surprise ruling on Monday, Mr Bercow ruled out another vote, unless substantial changes are made first.
One minister said the government was now looking at its options. Nadhim Zahawi, Children and Families' minister, told BBC Newsnight that one of the options was for MPs to vote on whether to ignore the 400-year-old convention that Mr Bercow had cited in making his ruling. Brexit minister Kwasi Kwarteng earlier told the Commons the government was now hoping to ask the EU for a delay to Brexit. He said the length of the delay would depend on whether Mrs May's Brexit deal is approved. If the deal is agreed, the delay could be short, but if not it could be longer.
Tuesday's newspapers are dominated by pictures of the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, alongside almost universal talk of a "constitutional crisis". The Daily Express calls him "the Brexit Destroyer" for ruling out a third vote on the prime minister's deal unless there are substantial changes to it. The paper talks of "an ambush" and a "shattering blow" to Theresa May's drive to win the backing of MPs for her withdrawal agreement. Number 10 is accusing Mr Bercow of "sabotaging Brexit", according to the Times. A government source tells the paper the Speaker has "conspired with MPs" to make a long delay in the Brexit process more likely. Meanwhile, the criticism of Mr Bercow's decision gets more personal in the Daily Mail. It accuses him of "grandstanding" and captions its front page picture with the words: "Smirk that says Brexit be damned".
Some of the sketch writers have their knives out too. The Mail's Henry Deedes describes Mr Bercow as a "twitchy windbag" at his "despotic worst". The Times' Quentin Letts says the Speaker had the air of a "psyched-up vandal".
Britain is facing up to TWENTY months of Brexit delays amid a 'constitutional crisis' after smirking Bercow invokes 400-year-old law to scupper PM’s hopes of a third 'meaningful vote' John Bercow said the withdrawal agreement couldn't be put to vote again as it is A source said that the Bercow was trying to rule out a meaningful vote this week It also means the PM may have to ask Brussels for a delay of up to 20 months
John Bercow was accused of trying to sabotage Brexit last night after he blocked another vote on Theresa May’s deal. In a dramatic intervention, the Commons Speaker ruled that the EU withdrawal agreement could not be put to a vote again without substantial changes. He gave Downing Street no notice of his announcement, which came just 24 hours before the Prime Minister was expected to ask the Commons to decide on the issue for a third time following two crushing defeats. As well as sparking a constitutional crisis, Mr Bercow’s move all but killed any prospect of a vote before Mrs May heads to an EU summit on Thursday.

25 Conservative members 'suspended' over Islamophobia
Twenty five Conservative members have allegedly been suspended over allegations of Islamophobia, as the party fights off claims it faces a serious issue with anti-Muslim discrimination. Among the people reportedly being investigated are a woman who said "no Muslim will get my vote" and another who vowed to "stand against the Islamification of our country". They were reported by a Twitter account dedicated to "investigating institutional racism, Islamophobia and cover-ups in the Conservative Party". Another said to be among those suspended was a man who wrote in a Facebook post: "I was going through a few magazines the other day down the local mosque. I was really enjoying myself. Then the rifle jammed."
Theresa May to force third vote on Brexit deal in defiance of John Bercow ruling, cabinet minister reveals
Theresa May will defy John Bercow and “find a way through” to stage a third vote on her twice-defeated Brexit deal next week, a Cabinet minister has insisted. Stephen Barclay, the Brexit secretary, revealed the prime minister would attempt to get around the Speaker’s shock ruling – that identical votes cannot be restaged after defeats – by arguing she had secured changes. One option was to insist the EU agreeing an extension to Article 50 to delay Brexit day constituted a different motion, or to agree changes that satisfied the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).
Commons leader Andrea Leadsom is said to have criticised her cabinet colleagues, saying it is now a "Remain cabinet", not a "Brexit Cabinet", Laura Kuenssberg said.
In April 2013 at the Hansard Society's annual parliamentary affairs lecture, Leadsom warned against the UK leaving the European Union, stating that "I think it would be a disaster for our economy and it would lead to a decade of economic and political uncertainty at a time when the tectonic plates of global success are moving."

There is lots of hypocrisy going on in Parliament.
Theresa May ‘writes to EU asking for Brexit delay until end of June' and admits country in 'crisis'
Theresa May is to write to the European Union asking for Brexit to be postponed until the end of June with the option of a longer delay, it has been reported. The prime minister also admitted that the country is in a political “crisis” over Brexit. The BBC reported that one minister said there was “no agreement” in a Cabinet meeting about the government’s next move. Under current law, the UK is due to leave the EU with or without a deal in 10 days’ time. The BBC’s political editor, Laura Kuenssberg, said the prime minister’s letter will also include a provision for a delay of up to two years
