There is a George Carlin quote I could reference here but I don't want to stoke the flames.

Ha, I know the exact quote.

And no, don't think it'd be wise to quote it. ;)

    This forum continues to amaze.
I can only assume that Churchy is either on an awful downswing or had far too many on a Bank Holiday weekend.
To insult the man that does more for the SkyPoker community than anyone and is what this community is all about is an absolute disgrace. If I were you Churchy I would be sending an apology ASAP.
Tikay do not change a thing you do and remember that 99.999999% of the SkyPoker community really appreciate the efforts you put in for the good of all.

Currently, there are 97 pages of amended or deleted posts recorded in the Change Log. I never review them, unless someone asks me to restore a deleted or amended post.

Fun fact: 73 pages of the change log actually consist of me changing a full stop to a comma, adding a conjunction, then changing it back again.

I am always surprised when so many players reply to the likes of the post that started this thread.
These threads appear on a regular basis, and the people that start them are never ever going to listen to what anyone else says.
There is absolutely no point in explaining, defending, or justifying anything. They will not listen.
I think the number of players that post a response may only be seen as an encouragement.
    They are probably best ignored.
I was playing a tourney on Friday, when one of the players did nothing but moan about Sky for the first half an hour.
Losing his chips was Skys fault not his.
He then called a shove with k4. He was obviously behind, but four spades appeared on the board, and he hit a flush with his 4.
He didn't seem to want to blame Sky for this, and stopped his moaning until the next time.

I have noticed that action on stars of late seems a lot more "gambley" which I have put down to increase in crossover players due to their increase in sports betting...I think sky has had this a lot to date anyhow and thus you see increased "variance" - particularly at weekends - you just gotta fasten your seat belt and enjoy ride so to speak and not get too down when the "gambling fools" get there vs you - it can be hard and thus, as has been mentioned, the mental side of game is key. If you truly don't feel right playing on any site then don't play. I am thinking of writing a book called paranoid poker but, knowing my luck, it would be jinxed...

Cheers @EvilPingu this explains a lot just over a week ago i qualified for the Sunday major through the 18:30 freeroll. After being chip bullied for about an hour i finally plucked up the courage to go big with my QQ preflop only to be called by @MattBates :# after a flop of 279 rainbow i shoved it big style only for Mr Bates to go bigger and we went all in only to find he had trips with the 2 Ouch.
After i beat myself up for being a bad player i now know the truth. Thanks :D

I won a flip the other day. I did wonder what was going on. This thread has cleared up a lot of questions.

Didn't cover " we're adjusting tables" so big stack can pick off the shorties.

There's been around 1.3 billion hands played since Sky Poker came into existence, which means there's been plenty of bad beats over the years.

To make sure that these happen at a fair yet non-suspicious interval while also allowing favoured players to win, Sky Poker has a specialist bad beat team that hires over 100 staff to monitor hands where a bad beat takes place, and ensure that the favoured players on the site are beneficiaries of this over time.

Other sites have attempted to automate this process based on factors such as net deposits and skill, by making an average player a huge winner as this is somewhat believable, while the depositor becomes the victim because they'll just keep depositing anyway and it's suspicious if a bad player starts winning too much.

This allows some of the high stakes sponsored pros on sites like PokerStars to win all their money if the average player gets too confident, as they stop being a favoured player in bigger games.

Sometimes they screw good players too because they know the good player will think they can win on Sky Poker so they can also win on PokerStars, but then they lose $50k on PokerStars because they're not a favoured player and the favoured players are chosen differently on each site.

The sponsored pros on big sites win because someone thinks they can win at £5/£10 cash on Sky so they can win at $5/$10 cash on Stars but the site doesn't favour them.

Due to the human emotions involved in what makes any given player "preferred", Sky is one of the few sites that prefers to make sure this job is done properly with humans deciding who the preferred player is, at the cost of around £3m a year in staff wages.

You sometimes see a delay on the river which you don't get on other sites, and this can often be where an employee is deciding which player should win the hand, because neither is a preferred player or both are a preferred player. On other sites, a computer decides this and the correct river card is chosen much more quickly.

Sometimes you hear about multi tabling as a way to 'reduce variance' - What this really means is that staff can't watch as many tables as the player can play, so a player might pick 12 tables so that 6 different staff are deciding whether he is a favoured player on that table or not. If you are only playing 1 table then it takes one member of staff to hate you, whereas if you are playing lots of tables more of the staff will know you are a preferred player, and also you pay more rake so you become a preferred player faster. This means you win more and sometimes when you lose a big hand you still win on that night.

Hope this has been helpful - Nobody has posted about this because it's a pretty well kept secret, only known by preferred players such as myself and all the players that find out leave the site and are paid to keep quiet by Sky.

PS: This post may not be true. ;)
This needs to be removed before too many people find out. Also rid Pingu from the preferred players list and ban him from the forum. @Tikay10
