The story behind this heartbreaking photo: Little girl, four, diagnosed with cancer after doctors dismissed her subtle symptoms for months
Young girl diagnosed with leukaemia before her fifth birthday A heartbroken mum has spoken about the moment she found out her four-year-old daughter had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Little Isla Kimberley (pictured) was diagnosed with blood cancer on September 12, 2020 - weeks before her fifth birthday. Parents Madison and Josh, from Melbourne, were completely blindsided by the 'subtle' symptoms that were brushed off by multiple doctors.
Childhood leukaemia is notoriously hard to spot. There are often no genetic factors-fortunately, as I understand it, it is the cancer that is least likely to come back.
Seems a little harsh to include this in a "NHS blunders" thread-quite apart from the fact that there is no apparent negligence/"blunder", this was in Australia...

The doctor will see you now… but you probably don't want them to: Interactive map lays bare all 260 of England's worst performing practices that are 'inadequate' or 'require improvement' - so is YOURS one of them?
Some 42 GP practices were ranked 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulator. Another 222 were classified as 'requires improvement', according to the data given to MailOnline. This accounts for roughly 5 per cent of all 6,000-plus GP surgeries in England. Every single one has now been flagged on our fascinating interactive map that links to all the inspection reports - allowing you to read, for yourself, exactly how they're judged by regulators.

Mine is not 1 of them. That's the good news. Although it is creaking under weight of numbers because the only other 1 in the town is.
My last GP practice (I moved last year) is finally off the list. Even though it has not made any improvements as far as I am aware. It's just been overtaken by others getting worse

Father-to-be, 31, died in motorbike crash without meeting his unborn twins after ambulance took more than an hour to reach him because crew couldn't read their sat nav
Aaron Morris, 31, would have had a 95 per cent chance of surviving the collision, but he did not arrive at hospital until nearly three hours after the first 999 call was made. Paramedics initially took 50 minutes to reach Mr Morris after the collision took place near his home in Esh Winning, County Durham, on July 1 last year. An air ambulance was available to attend to the scene, but was never sent out despite being requested, an inquiry has found. And when paramedics finally arrived, they then struggled with directions back to hospital as they were unable to operate the vehicle's sat nav system.
Britain's broken NHS, like you've never seen before: Horrifying documentary captures final moments of man killed by delays, a girl who dislocated her leg being taken to hospital on a PICNIC table and a woman, 90, left to wait hours on the icy ground
Taken by an undercover paramedic during winter, Channel 4's eye-opening Dispatches documentary captures a series of damning incidents that staff warn have become commonplace.
