I had a response from support saying they were right our cup starts with a round of 16 in Week 35, after sending them a less than complimentary response, I checked our cup and they have changed it back to say we start in gameweek 34 with some teams getting byes.

I had a look on the FPL website and according to that it should start in GW34, like you say. I checked the app and mine has changed to GW35 too.
