Japanese fans stun Qatar crowd by CLEANING UP stadium after World Cup opening match, telling bemused local supporter: 'We do not leave rubbish behind us. We show respect'
At the tournament's opening fixture between Qatar and Ecuador, fans dressed in Japan colours stayed behind to pick up bottles and food wrapping left in the stands. The country has gained a reputation for similar goodwill at previous international tournaments and their admirable behaviour is already winning plaudits in Qatar. Footage shows them going row by row picking up the rubbish and placing it into plastic bags. The video was taken by influencer Omar Al-Farooq from Bahrain who shared it on Instagram.
Fury as Wales fans have LGBTQ+ rainbow bucket hats ‘confiscated’ in Qatar
Laura McAllister 🌻 🏴 @LauraMcAllister So, despite fine words from @FIFAWorldCup before event @Cymru rainbow Bucket hats confiscated at stadium, mine included. I had a conversation about this with stewards - we have video evidence. This #WorldCup2022 just gets better but we will continue stand up for our values

Qatar vs Ecuador - 67,372 (Stadium capacity = 60,000)
England vs Iran - 45,334 (Stadium capacity = 40,000)
Senegal vs Netherlands - 41,721 (Stadium capacity = 40,000)
USA vs Wales - 43,418 (Stadium capacity = 40,000)
So despite empty seats each game has exceeded the capacity!
Good grief.
Argentina 1 Saudi Arabia 2
Seriously, that's some result.
