Rowdy crowds gathered around the two men were heard yelling in disbelief and swearing following the incident. The man who threw the right hook at the Blues fan before the game in East London (centre) has now been arrested.
A Russian and Ukrainian football team clashed in a hotel in Turkey in astonishing scenes that required the police be called and reportedly left four Russian players with fractured bones.
Ukrainian side FC Minaj and Russian outfit Shinnik Yaroslavl were sharing a hotel in Turkey when the brawl broke out, allegedly over one Russian player being rude towards the cleaning staff in the establishment.
According to reports, ‘one of the Minaj players made a remark to one of the Russians, who behaved inappropriately towards hotel staff The russian was drunk & openly rude The Russian did not apologize & received a punch from the Minaj player’
‘Then the Russian national brought his teammates to deal with the Minaj man… This conversation again led to a fight which Minaj won”
Video has since circulated of a Russian knocked out cold among his teammates.
Meanwhile, Russian media added that “the hotel had to call the police & ambulance service with 4 shinnik yaroslavl players receiving possible fractured bones” as a result of the clash.
For their part, FC Minaj wrote in an official statement:
“Yesterday, February 13th, a fight took place in the Turkish Royal Sigunas hotel involving FC ‘Minaj’ and representatives of country 404- Yaroslavl Shinnik”
“The cause of the fight was the disgraceful behaviour of the football players of the Russian team towards the hotel employees and provocative shouts towards the players of Minaj”.
“The information from Russian propoganda media about the fact that the players of Minaj forced the Shinnik players to sing the Ukraine national anthem & beat the players in the lift is a traditional delusion. The fight did take place, but already on the floor where the Russians lived and in equal numbers”.
“After the end of the skirmish, when the people of Minaj were in their rooms, the Russians continued fighting among themselves. Those who tried to stop the clash were accused of supporting Ukraine. Local police had to intervene and calm down the Russians.
Barcelona are embroiled in a corruption scandal as they are accused of paying over £1MILLION to an ex-LaLiga referees chief for 'neutral' treatment and advice on how to adapt to each official.
Barcelona have been accused of paying more than £1million across three seasons to the former vice president of LaLiga referees in a major corruption scandal.
A report alleges that Barcelona paid Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, through his company DASNIL 95, €1.4m (£1.2m) during Josep Bartomeu's presidency.
It is alleged that Negreira, was paid €532,728 in 2016, €541,752 in 2017, and then a further €318,200 in 2018.
All those payments are alleged by the prosecutor's office to have been made by Barcelona to DASNIL 95, with a report claiming they wanted 'to make sure that no refereeing decisions were made against, that is, "that everything was neutral".
Having already testified, Negreira and his son Javier Enríquez Romero have reportedly denied that Barcelona ever received any preferential treatment from referees.
In his testimony, Negreira claimed that his alleged agreement with Barcelona was to see him recommend how their players should behave in game with referees.
It is claimed he tailored his advice depending on the referee they were assigned for upcoming matches.
That is, what they could and should not do depending on the referee designated for the matches.
A Tottenham fan who admitted assaulting Aaron Ramsdale at the North London derby last month must pay him £100.
Joseph Watts, 35, pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court to assault by beating after attacking the Arsenal goalkeeper at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 15.
He was handed a 12-month community order and made to pay £100 in compensation to Ramsdale.
He also received a four-year football banning order, meaning he cannot attend matches.
Watts, from Hackney, jumped over the hoardings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to attack Ramsdale shortly after the final whistle had been blown on Arsenal’s 2-0 victory.
Arsenal and Manchester City have both been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players during Wednesday’s clash.
Pep Guardiola’s side picked up a crucial three points at the Emirates against their Premier League title rivals as the visitors ran out as 3-1 winners.
The result moved City – who have won four of the last five titles – back to the top of the table, although second-placed Arsenal are level on points and have played a game less.
It was a tense clash and both clubs have been charged by the FA over multiple incidents during the meeting.
‘Arsenal and Manchester City have been charged after their players surrounded the match official at different times during the Premier League fixture on Wednesday February 15,’ read an FA Spokesperson statement on Friday.
‘It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, with Arsenal’s players surrounding the match official during the 56th minute and Manchester City’s doing so during the 42nd and 64th minutes.
‘Both clubs have until Tuesday 21 February to provide their respective responses.’
Arsenal’s charge is due to their players surrounding the referee when he awarded a penalty against Gabriel Magalhaes for a foul on Erling Haaland, before it was ruled out for offside.
City’s charges are due to two incidents, the first coming when referee Anthony Taylor gave a penalty against their goalkeeper Ederson – despite Eddie Nketiah getting his shot away – and the second for their players’ reaction to Nketiah not receiving more than a yellow card for a challenge on defender Ruben Dias.
