That rates alongside Man City, who were reportedly going to honour Colin Bell, by naming one of the stands behind a goal after him. The 🛎🔚
On the flip side, Man City were responsible for the most marmite football craze ever (it is not the vuvuzela-no one likes them): the inflatable.
Some people had trouble pronouncing City's then Centre Forward-Imre Varadi. So he was known as Imre Banana. And people brought inflatable bananas to the games...
I remember that song When my brother and I were young free and single and football wasn't expensive, we would go to any match if Everton or Macclesfield weren't playing. Stockport, Stoke, Vale, Tranmere and Crewe were the usual venues. I remember the little dugout at Stoke on the opposite side of the pitch where a coach could shout at the players during the match. No hiding on the far side of the pitch for them. I maybe wrong but the name Sammy Cheung ( or something like) springs to mind.
It was Sammy Chung assistant to Mick Mills at the time about 1986 if i remember Sadly Sammy passed away last year You must the same age as me or there abouts

Could be a clue in his alias Sean.
I remember having a pink panther......for about two games!, lol.
Came about when some bright spark in the 80's decided that pink was a non confrontational colour and thus Stokes Stewards all sported bight pink jackets or tabbards. They became known in the Boothen and the Paddock as pink panthers and thus a short lived craze was born.

Take Bolton Wanderers ground, for example. I get that, in today's moneygrabbing world, Burnden Park morphed into the new Reebok stadium.
But, from July 2023 it will be renamed, with a new sponsor.
The Toughsheet Community Stadium.
