''The probability of the board being two-pair is 198/4,165. The probability of at least one player having quads is 219/11,891 in hold'em and 350/3,243 in Omaha.

The probability of the board being a one-pair hand is 352/833. Then the probability of a player having quads is 10/1,081 in hold'em and 60/1,081 in Omaha. Multiplying the probabilities and summing gives a probability of .014637, or 1-in-68, for a hold'em semi-deal with at least one player having quads.

Similarly, for Omaha the probability is .047809, or 1-in-21.

I suspect some readers will be surprised by these numbers so let's discuss quads in real games, and let's focus on hold'em. Let's consider only quads arising from a player holding a pocket pair. In this case there is a probability of .004798, or about 1 in 208, that some player makes quads.

Now what is the effect of the order in which the board is dealt?

In Part V we saw that there are 20 ways in which the board may be dealt. If a player holds a pocket pair and the semideal leads to this player making quads, then there is a probability of .9 that the player will flop at least one card of the rank of her pair. Thus, in a loose game where most of the players holding any pocket pair see the flop, a semi-deal leading to quads for a player holding a pocket pair will result in such a player making trips or better on the flop 90 percent of the time. She is not folding now! The point is that if a semideal has quads resulting from a pocket pair, in a loose game it is highly likely the quads are realized.

Quads arising from trips on board is a different matter even in a loose game. The reason is that even in a loose game some players will be folding garbage hands like 3-7 offsuit, 2-10 offsuit and so on. Consequently, trips on board will frequently not produce quads. If the trips are of a high rank there is a higher likelihood someone has hit. Sometimes players who play any two suited cards will waltz into quads. The net effect is that I would guess multiplying the semi-deal probability by something like .8 is going to approximate the actual occurrence of quads in a loose game. This still puts us at quads about once every 85 hands in a loose hold'em game.

Let's use 1-in-85 as a working probability for seeing quads in a hold'em game. What kind of fluctuation should surprise us? For example, at Casino Regina about six weeks ago, I saw one player get quads three times in the span of 90 minutes which means three times in about 50 hands. Twice he made them with pocket pairs and once with trips on board.''

here he also talks about loose games, @Essexphil alluded to HU games where hands are rarely folded and if take into account its HiLo as well people are rarely going to fold on the flop as well thus allowing more Quads to be realised.

Ive been asking for a while to have forum rights withdrawn, its no problem.

There is nothing left to say i agree.

Its disappointing that you allow certain people to contribute that never offer a poker perspective, just poke with a stick but thats the nature of one sided forum.

    Enjoy!

You don't need to ask for your rights to post on the Forum withdrawn, you just have to stop posting if you so wish.

For the record, your rights have not yet been withdrawn, you have just been asked to be more reasonable on both the Forum & at the tables, failing which they will be.

I Just tried to discuss the differences between online and the real game initially and the problem i had on another site. All my original posts for quite a while, did not involve Sky and the reason i was here, was that i found it the best bet. Its the best online poker site i believe to be around... i play here dont i?

I made that quite clear. The reason any 'bad feeling' came into it, was the sarcasm (lowest form of wit, we know), abuse and stalking that followed. It was my experience, no BS or lies, my experience.

I honestly thought it would be of interest to online poker players in an online poker player forum.

I know differently now and regret the whole episode to be honest. And before anyone says im playing some kind of sympathy card, i know i wont get any here so im just trying to explain myself. I do fight fire with fire if thats the route people want to go down ..... and i do have to have the last word so thats my weakness.

It just poker guys and i have an opinion. Peoples experiences are quite different online, depending on the level they are playing, their ability and also their personality. Nobody is right or wrong, because everyones circumstances are different. Someones going to have an horrendous experience, others a very favourable one.

If you are going to have a forum, then it has to be an open one. I think because you have a close knit community here, it does become a kangaroo court at times. A stranger with a different view is rounded upon very quickly and i think you have maybe have lost sight of fairness over the years, as its not a great way to act in a place where freedom of opinion and speech is supposedly encouraged.

I do, however, accept that i have pushed the boundaries as things escalated, as regards to Sky itself.

Maybe both sides can take some accountability on this.... Or maybe not, as most appear as stubborn as me!

Before Mr T you would not have got passed page one, even on tippy toes. Daring him to ban you under no big deal,is sad, given you only appreciate something when it's gone.
You say you have been player long time so should know the ropes and the different changes in table play, it's the same for everyone. "My claim to Fame" I once took out Mr T not in a gay sense I might add.... at £3 sit an go Hi/Lo He's never forgiven me YET !
That said, he can take you out very easy, keep Death Wish a film nothing to gain by keep on keeping on. FWIW

I agree with far more of that than I disagree with.

I don't agree with the "sarcasm...abuse and stalking bit." You dished quite a lot out, and got quite a lot back. You seemed to reserve quite a lot for me. Against that, I would also mention 2 things. Firstly, it can get a bit "clique'y" on here. In fact, when I first decided to comment on this forum 2 or 3 friends advised me against it for that very reason. Secondly, as far as I'm concerned, I don't usually care if people robustly disagree with me. Nothing you have ever said about me worries me in the slightest.

As far as poker goes, and indeed most non-poker stuff on this forum, it's all about opinions. There is no right and wrong. There are some people who regularly post stuff on here that I disagree with. But I tend to find that you can learn more from people who have a different viewpoint. That applies to me just as much as to you.

Can it be a bit of a "kangaroo court" on here? At its worst, yes it can. It can be incredibly frustrating, and sometimes downright annoying. But, similarly, at its best, it can be incredibly rewarding. In a way that other similar sites never quite match. For me, at least.

I think it a common trait amongst poker players that they like to have the last word on things. Certainly true for me. So, I will finish with 2 things:-

    1. Try and avoid expressing your feelings about the way Sky Poker operates. Try not to be goaded into that by anyone, including me. Because if you cannot, then it is better for you to avoid the forum.

    2. Most things in life are about opinions. There is no right or wrong. The main exceptions are Maths and Probability.

    Good luck at the tables

You made unfounded accusations against the site. You claimed that ‘impossible’ things happen with an online deck.

Why would this be of any interest to anyone who was sane?

You’re absolutely right with one thing. No one would offer any sympathy. Why should they? You’ve been rude and hostile from the very start. You at no stage wanted to discuss anything. You just dismissed the 99% of people who disagreed with you.

It is an open forum. There was no kangaroo court. Everyone is a stranger when they first post. Other than when people spout rubbish, they’ll all accepted in the way they should be.
The forum struggles these days largely due to all the other forms of social media. New posters are welcomed with open arms.

I agree you should take accountability. I disagree that anyone else should
