These "spin-offs" are almost always an anti-climax, but Top Boy might be the best TV Series I've ever watched.

I am not going to argue about spin offs often being an anti-climax. Although I can think of a couple of exceptions, like The Good Fight (I havent seen Elsbeth yet), and Bosch Legacy (I am also looking forward to the Renee Ballard spin off). Although in both cases they might not have been as good as the original series, both were worth a watch. Better Call Saul was popular, although I havent watched it. I really enjoyed Sons of Anarchy, but havent watched the spin off. Frasier was immensely popular. Law and Order had a few very good spin offs, and I have watched all of them. Going back a few years, Happy Days had a couple.
I would guess that there would be far fewer successes than failures.
I suppose you could make the same point about movie sequels. Not many are as good as the originals. Good example this week. I thought The Dry was excellent, the sequel wasnt.

Their biggest problem will surely be, as just about all the major characters, except for her, have all been killed off. Definiely one of the best I have watched.

I should say that I have already watched most of it twice. I have enjoyed watching a few older series recently for the second time. I have watched The Sopranos, NYPD Blue, Justified, Homeland, Deadwood, True Detective, Waking the Dead, The Wire, Love Hate, to name but a few. I will watch The Shield, and The West Wing, again from start to finish, very soon.
I also think that it is great to watch the whole story at the same time. For instance I recently watched 12 series of NYPD Blue over 2 weeks. When I originally watched it, that would have been over 12, or 13 years, and missed a few episodes here and there.

Totally agree about The Good Fight and Bosch Legacy.
Movie sequels? There are quite a few good ones. The best probably being Godfather 2.
That said, I cannot think of a genuinely good Number 3 in any franchise.

Die Hard, at a push? The later sequels were admittedly tosh though.

I cant help myself. I didnt disagree because I wasnt a big fan of Back To the Future, and really dont have an opinion on how good or bad they were. It would therefore be unfair to disagree.
However, I will put The Godfather2, and Back To The Future3, down to the exception proving the rule.

Totally agree about The Good Fight and Bosch Legacy.
Movie sequels? There are quite a few good ones. The best probably being Godfather 2.
That said, I cannot think of a genuinely good Number 3 in any franchise.
Got any others.
@HAYSIE
Get well soon Tony.
As soon as I wrote it, I decided to book myself in for a course of therapy.
I didnt disagree because I wasnt a big fan of Back To the Future, and really dont have an opinion on how good or bad they were.
It would therefore be unfair to disagree.
However, I will put The Godfather2, and Back To The Future3, down to the exception proving the rule.
