Definately a downswing after the 1st 2 series. Much of the back story stuff was badly presented and was not in the books. Possibly by tying to cram too much into the storylines they are at risk off too much creative license ruining a perfectly good story.
They seem to have missed the character "Bullocks" completely and developed Lorna into the associate without giving her any of Bullocks personality. Sorry but that's a bad call.
Certainly for me the mixing of the books doesn't work well Series 3 had elements from The Brass Verdict and The Gods of Guilt and even a smattering of The Fifth Witness.
They are stand alone stories and as such should be presented that way.
This series ended where the novel Law of Innocence starts with Mickey being charged with the murder of Sam Scales.
In the book he is assisted with some of the investigative work by Harry Bosch his half brother. It would be great if Harry was introduced into the upcoming series 4, especially if Titus Welliver reprised his role.
However I cant see that happening as much as we would like it.
