Eva Björg Ægisdottir’s Bestselling Crime Series ‘Elma’ Set for TV Adaptation (EXCLUSIVE)
Eva Björg Ægisdóttir’s best-selling crime series “Elma” is set for a TV adaptation after Icelandic production company Glassriver optioned the rights.
The series follows police detective Elma, who returns to work at the local police station in her small hometown of Akranes, Iceland, after a disastrous romance goes wrong.
“When a woman’s body is found lying at the foot of a lighthouse, terrible secrets could well resurface from the past,” reads the logline. “In this small Icelandic town with its oppressive atmosphere, could salvation come to Elma from her colleague Saevar?”
The first book in the series is titled “The Creak on the Stairs” while the follow-up is “Girls Who Life.” Ægisdóttir’s books have been translated into 23 languages but the series has been a particular hit in France, where it has reached over 100,000 readers.
D H H Literary Agency’s David Headley negotiated the deal in association with The Artists Partnership.
Glassriver has an extensive scripted portfolio, including crime drama “Black Sands,” and is developing over 20 further screen projects for both TV and film, ranging from comedy to sci-fi.

Guy Ritchie's hugely popular crime drama, The Gentlemen, will be back for a second series, Netflix has confirmed.
With an all-star cast, including Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones and Joely Richardson, the first series follows Eddie (Theo James), who not only inherits the Duke of Halstead title following his father's death but the illegal weed farm secretly growing on his family estate.
Despite his reluctance to work with the gangsters behind it, Susie (Kaya Scodelario) and her mobster dad Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone), Eddie soon becomes embroiled in the criminal underworld.
With James, Scodelario, and Daniel Ings — who plays Eddie’s brother, Freddy — all confirmed to rejoin for season two, the second series will follow Eddie as he takes on his new role as co-owner of the operation.
We can't wait for this, although filming is not set to start until next year, so we have a while to wait.
Suits fans, rejoice, because a reboot is officially in the works. Filming for the new spin-off, Suits: LA, has now kicked off, according to reports by Variety.
The legal drama will follow Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who moves from New York to Los Angeles to work with the city's elite at Black Lane Law, an entertainment and criminal firm.

Channel 4 has announced a new four-part TV adaptation of Louise Kennedy's acclaimed novel Trespasses, a forbidden love story set against the backdrop of the Troubles.
It will star Sex Education's Gillian Anderson – who will also executive produce – as well as Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) and Tom Cullen (The Gold).
The Channel 4 synopsis reads: "1975, in a town outside Belfast. Whilst working one night behind the bar of her family pub, serving a mixed crowd including the locally stationed soldiers, Catholic schoolteacher Cushla (Lola Petticrew) meets Michael (Cullen), an older Protestant married man, who often defends IRA suspects and is friends with cultured bohemians who enrage and intrigue Cushla. The Gentlemen season 2

Guy Ritchie's hugely popular crime drama, The Gentlemen, will be back for a second series, Netflix has confirmed.
With an all-star cast, including Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones and Joely Richardson, the first series follows Eddie (Theo James), who not only inherits the Duke of Halstead title following his father's death but the illegal weed farm secretly growing on his family estate.
Despite his reluctance to work with the gangsters behind it, Susie (Kaya Scodelario) and her mobster dad Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone), Eddie soon becomes embroiled in the criminal underworld.
With James, Scodelario, and Daniel Ings — who plays Eddie’s brother, Freddy — all confirmed to rejoin for season two, the second series will follow Eddie as he takes on his new role as co-owner of the operation.
We can't wait for this, although filming is not set to start until next year, so we have a while to wait.
Suits: LA

Suits fans, rejoice, because a reboot is officially in the works. Filming for the new spin-off, Suits: LA, has now kicked off, according to reports by Variety.
The legal drama will follow Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who moves from New York to Los Angeles to work with the city's elite at Black Lane Law, an entertainment and criminal firm.
We can't wait for the courtroom drama to unfold...
Trespasses

Channel 4 has announced a new four-part TV adaptation of Louise Kennedy's acclaimed novel Trespasses, a forbidden love story set against the backdrop of the Troubles.
It will star Sex Education's Gillian Anderson – who will also executive produce – as well as Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) and Tom Cullen (The Gold).
The Channel 4 synopsis reads: "1975, in a town outside Belfast. Whilst working one night behind the bar of her family pub, serving a mixed crowd including the locally stationed soldiers, Catholic schoolteacher Cushla (Lola Petticrew) meets Michael (Cullen), an older Protestant married man, who often defends IRA suspects and is friends with cultured bohemians who enrage and intrigue Cushla. Worlds apart, Cushla knows a relationship like this spells all kinds of trouble, but they are irresistibly drawn to one another.
"In a place where loose lips cost lives and danger lurks in the shadows, amidst the fear and paranoia, this illicit affair between Cushla and Michael ignites and burns bright..."
Speaking about her role as Cushla's mother, Gina, Gillian Anderson said in a release: "I fell in love with Louise’s stunning book when I read it in proof. I was immediately drawn to the tragi-comic creation that is Gina and couldn’t resist when Louise asked me to play her."

It's safe to say that bingeing brilliant boxsets has been one of our main pastimes over the last few years, and our TV drama obsession will not be slowing down any time soon. Luckily for us, it doesn't have to as a whole host of brand new must-watch TV shows are arriving on the small screen this month and into 2025.
There was a lot to enjoy this year – from Jilly Cooper's iconic Rivals to another nail-bitting season of Slow Horses, we've really been spoilt – and the coming months promise to just as exciting for new TV shows.
This December, we're already looking forward to Black Doves, a gripping spy thriller starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire. Even more excitingly, we'll soon be able to welcome in the New Year with a new season of The Traitors (think of all the fashion inspo!).
In other news, a Legally Blonde TV series is in the works, with Reese Witherspoon set to revive her iconic Noughties character as an executive producer of a new prequel for Amazon Prime.
Meanwhile, Netflix has finally revealed which Bridgerton sibling will be taking centre stage as the romantic lead in series four, and Sex Education's Gillian Anderson will star in a new Channel 4 drama Trespasses, based on the acclaimed novel of the same name.
Filming has also started on the reboot of much-loved legal drama Suits, and Netflix has confirmed that a second series of Guy Ritchie hit The Gentlemen is in the pipeline. The streaming giant has also confirmed that an adaptation of Bella Mackie's bestselling novel, How to Kill Your Family, is on the way, starring Anya Taylor Joy, as well as the next Harlan Coben thriller, Missing You.
It's also set to be a big year for HBO (you can watch the network's shows on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK) with the return of award-winning shows Last of Us and The White Lotus. Fans will also rejoice at the news that Apple TV+ has confirmed its acclaimed workplace thriller, Severance, will finally return for a second season after nearly a three-year wait.
With all this incredible new TV to enjoy, we're ready to get stuck into our next telly binge. Popcorn at the ready...

Following the huge success of Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan, Netflix has shared a first look at its next adaptation from bestselling US thriller author Harlan Coben. Missing You will star Rosalind Eleazar in the lead as Kat Donovan, a detective specialising in missing persons investigations, alongside Ashley Walters, Richard Armitage and Sir Lenny Henry. The story has once again been relocated from the US to the UK, with filming taking place around Manchester and the north west of England.
Netflix says: "Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan's fiancé Josh – the love of her life – disappeared and she's never heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.
