Russell Brand rails against the 'state, global media and authoritarian centralised power' in rambling conspiracy-filled Rumble video - as Met Police launch probe after receiving 'a number of allegations' of 'non-recent' sexual offences
Police have launched an investigation into Russell Brand after a number of 'non recent' sexual offence allegations were made against the comedian. The Metropolitan Police said it was probing accusations against the 48-year-old hours before he returned to his Rumble show and posted a new livestream video on the web-based platform. The comic-turned-political activist was accused earlier this month of multiple offences following an investigation by Channel 4's Dispatches and The Sunday Times. On Saturday Brand, who has vehemently denied all the allegations against him, thanked his supporters for 'questioning' the allegations of rape and sexual assault made against him. Today the Met said it had received allegations of offences in London and elsewhere in the country and would investigate these, while offering specialist support to all women who made them.
This rather sad witch hunt against Russell Brand has given rise to an interesting debate.
In relation to the allegations made by the now 33 or 34-year-old woman about what a then-31 year old man did with her/to her (depending on your point of view) 17 or 18 years ago.
The law is constantly evolving in this sort of thing. As it should. So-for example-until 1875 the age for consent was 12, then 13 until 1885.
The law was more recently changed so that people in authority-clergy, teachers, scout leaders and the like, had different rules imposed upon them. Quite right, too.
But there is most certainly an argument for different rules for different ages. It would be perfectly possible to change the law so that, say, over 25s could not engage in various activities with under-18s.
I can see enormous difficulties in enforcing such things. But it must be considered.
Of course in some cultures it is quite normal for quite large age gaps between couples, but I do think that protecting under 18s from predation is certainly a valid opinion and one that should withstand further examination.
I think the desire by a man over 25 for youngsters under 18 smacks a little of unnatural tendencies.
As a side note I often get into quite heated arguments with supposed Christians who have an absolute meltdown when I say that Mary would have only been 12 or 13 when she birthed Jesus. And that by todays standards Joseph would have been classed as a predator if not a paedophile.
Be very interesting to see if the C.P.S think there's enough credible evidence to prosecute Brand. Right now I'm not sure.

Bit harsh on Joseph since she was a virgin and it was an immaculate conception.

True, I was using it as an example of how societal norms and attitudes change.

Russell Brand Attorney General warning slammed as 'worrying and unnecessary'
SARAH VINE: Russell Brand's online empire of the deluded and deranged shows the old world order is at breaking point
SARAH VINE: There is a certain irony to the predicament in which Russell Brand, former 'comedian' and now self-appointed, bare-chested guardian of 'truth' (lately a highly contested concept) finds himself. On the one hand, he proclaims himself a victim of cancel culture, persecuted and reviled on social media for his alleged sex crimes, pre-judged without fair trial, condemned without due process. On the other, he harnesses the feral power of the mob to his defence across multiple platforms, demanding that his millions of followers open their minds to the notion that he is not, in fact, a grubby sex pest but a brave and noble warrior whose actions have made him the target of a nefarious old-world cabal of murky government agents, big pharma, 'legacy media' and very possibly some lizard people, too.

Russell Brand has ranted about 'surveillance robots ' and NATO expansion in his latest Rumble video after he pleaded with fans to financially support him. The comedian-turned-political activist released a new conspiracy theory-laden video on the web-based platform today as he continues to fight sexual assault allegations made against him. In the hour-and-a-half long live stream the 48-year-old took aim at the introduction of surveillance robots in New York City, which he branded 'tyranny on wheels'. He also continued his push against NATO expansion, claiming that the military alliance had provoked Russia into invading Ukraine by ignoring warnings from Vladimir Putin. It came after he begged fans to splash out £48 a year and subscribe to his Rumble channel after YouTube demonetised his videos in the wake of the scandal which has seen him losing the backing of publishers, agents and seen his stand-up tour postponed.
Unearthed interview shows Russell Brand telling uncomfortable host he would have sex with her corpse and making crude joke about bedding Adolf Hitler as he faces ongoing sexual abuse storm
DailyMail.com unearthed a 2008 interview with Russell Brand where he makes crude jokes about having sex with a corpse. In the interview, he tells actress Carrie Keagan, 'If you had an asthma attack now and keeled over, I would take advantage. I would decorate your corpse'. Warming to his sleazy theme, the embattled comic turned political activist shockingly adds: 'If I had to, I would sleep with Hitler to get to you.' Brand now faces rape and sexual abuse allegations from four women, including a woman who was 16 years old when she claims he sexually assaulted her.
Now second police force probes Russell Brand 'sex predator' claims: Thames Valley Police confirm it is investigating 'harassment and stalking allegations'
NEW After Scotland Yard launched a criminal probe, Thames Valley Police confirmed yesterday it was investigating 'information in relation to the harassment and stalking allegations' made by a woman. In the past two weeks, Russell Brand has faced serious accusations from a series of women. He was accused of rape and sexual assault when four women made allegations to the Sunday Times and Channel 4's Dispatches programme, and then a slew of further claims emerged as women told their stories to newspapers and the BBC. At least ten have made public claims so far. Brand, 48, has strenuously denied wrongdoing, and says he has evidence to refute allegations. He has called the claims a conspiracy by the 'mainstream media'.
