hi DTW just had a read and you are progressing fast...i sense a soon to be Open champion here!

but anyway one bit of advice i would give is that you should not rely on Sharkscope; I think you should start you own basic spreadsheet and that way you can track your progress far more easily.

will only take a minute to complete after each tournie/satellite/cash game...just stuff like Game Type/Date/Profit & Loss and also you may want to add a comment section so you can maybe jot down a line or 2 about how you played?

i would upload my spreadsheet but its a bit complicated cos it tracks other stuff but i'm sure you get the idea.

Nice one, Mike. You're doing very well.. if I can offer any advice (from my own limited experience!) it is be patient and have belief* - have tonnes of patience! - and stick to strict bankroll management rules (I use 5% entry). Will be following your progress. All the best, Elliot.

    Hi mate,

well I told you what I was doing. Last update I was started at 50 and on 82. I had a truly horrific run and I won't bore you with details but I ended up at 38.

I have never felt so depressed at the bad beats I received. It was shocking.

I kept at it believing I was playing good poker and getting real bad luck. Which most of the time I was. Some of the regular players here will I am sure openly admit they got lucky on me many times. Maybe they won't.  But to have AA cracked and come back from 400 chips to 27th was a big deal for me. Tonight I went all in with the best 2 pair on flop to have river hit a full house for other person, KK beat by all in preflop- of A4, and very next hand of QQ beat all in preflop of A7 and also my KK with proper raises sucked out to a river on 88 by massie in tonight in tikeys. To give you idea of why I get annoyed. I don't think I play bad poker overall but get bad beat so much it really annoys me when the people who bd beat me are regular winners and  I know they should not be there because they have played bad but get lucky. ALL THE TIME.

Anyhow I entered a deepie and won it so from my 50 I am now at £112 for once my hands held up, and so I am stilll ahead by about 100% for this month. I hope your having good fortune as well.

I am really annoyed with poker at this moment, normally it doesn't bother me because I just play for fun, but this month I tried to do BRM and just got so many bad beats it makes me puke. I am very annoyed but still in good profit

I feel ovrall I play good poker but so far have not had the luck that goes with good play, and still have much to learn.

hi Draig i am sorry to hear of your bad run of luck m8 but glad to see you are back in profit mate it seems to me that Poker is like most Betting  sports  as its progressive i for one would say you have a good game the problem we all have is a losing streak and when it happens regulary its hard to keep a possitive mental attitude i think thats where our discipline comes into the game (which i am still leaening) as with most sports games i try not to dwell on negs i've had days where the river hasn't been in my favour getting good cards and losing relying on bankers only to see them bust out the important thing for me is i try not to carry it over til the next day i'll go and play  30p SnG's & freerolls until i am back to a possitive frame of mind with no negative thoughts then i'll play a sat or a £1-10 speed tourney to get my game  back

m8 u are back to winning ways now please try & stay possitive and when u get a bad beat as hard as it is u gotta forget about

I don't play any cash YET either, but my rule for table selection (in terms of costs) would be the same 5% entry, but that 5% must represent the initial 100 BB buy-in. So for example to play 0.02/0.04 I'd be buying in at £4.00 and that would need a BR of at least £80. With my own current BR of £280 I'd stick to the 0.05/0.10.

That may be a bit strict (?) That's just my own rule - See what others think.

    Cheers

    Hi Turpin,

    Got your message and replied.

Update for you on my progress this month.

If you recall 1st Aug I put £50 in. I then went up to £82, then back down to £38, which was infuriating. However I am now back up to £117, and not so many days left to the end of the month.

Have had a couple of cashes last few days which has kept the profit going the right way, while still paying for the entry fees.

Now I just need one good cash finish in one of the 7pm deepies and I will be happy enough. Last one we played in where I kept having pocket pairs was good fun. I was getting so many of them but they all kept missing, and thought I showed good dicsipline to fold them to unfavourable flops. The last one I thought I was a bit unlucky not to win with 8-8, especially then hitting the straight at the end to be called by a KQ all the way down so he hit the better straight but there you go, that's poker!

Been playing a fair bit of Omaha on that other site as well and doing ok on it. Fun game that is also, I am slowly getting to grips with it. First Omaha tourney I entered for $5 was about 30 runners and I came 3rd for about $25 so I was pleased with that.

See you soon keep up the good work.
