tennispair are you a full timer? Posted by BlackFish3
no, ive got a part time job to keep living expenses at bay and then uni from sept to may.
think the op shouldnt give up a job and play poker if he doesnt have the finance to support himself for a year.
Also, DOHH you must be on one sick heater to have had one downswing in all your playing time. depending on what you class as a downswing ill have minor downswings atleast once a month & 2 major ones a year. and that is a fact. I played really low volume for July only like 60k hands and in that time i had a major downswing and a minor downswing. however i also had a mad heater which saw me get in profit for the month! my major swing FYI was 25BI accross 3 nights and the minor 10BIs.
I honestly don't think I've ever had more than 6 or 7 BI downswing on 50NL. My only big downswings have came when I've stupidly joined higher stakes games and been pwned. Posted by CLIOKID

Probably.
I don't play a massive volume.
I have been playing about 3 and a half years though.
Probably average around 3k pts on here a month, I'm not sure how many hands that equates to, but I'm the same as Dohhh in that I generally only 2-3 table.

75 hands an hour, 2 tables, 4 hours, 5 days a week 40 weeks a year = ~120k hands in a year, putting in alot of hours 2 tabling. (if you were to play live ~30h/hr 1 table, 6 hrs, 5 day s, 40 weeks thatd be ~36k hands lol)
There are well documented longer break even and losing stretches from winning players. When you start talking sample sizes you need massive numbers to get any sort of long term idea.
