Sky Priority Freeroll

My mind is blown. Irregardless of which team you support, VIP seats to a European game with a free four course meal, free alcohol, AND a free bet, to watch a game that nearly all of the country enjoys watching, completely free of charge (apart from travel costs, which to Manchester from most of the country will not be greater than £60 by train), is a very good prize to win in a tournament you pay nothing to enter!

I went to a Chelsea European game last year courtesy of another website's VIP service, and enjoyed a similar experience to the one offered as a prize, and it was one of the best nights of football I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

This is something new, different, exciting that Sky offer its Priority customers, and you want to encourage them to run a bog-standard-top-four-cash-only-first-prize-is-decent-money-oh-sigh-this-is-boring MTT every month?

    Sigh.

I am definitely not a Man Utd fan, and would much prefer watching the mighty Eagles.

But this is definitely more interesting than another freeroll with cash prizes.

I think your missing my point. The prize in principle is fine, however, sky have offered a package for one team, could they not have offered it to say a premiership match of your choice or an england game ?

I dont know where you get your train prices from but trust me a mid week return from London to Manchester does not cost £60, try well over £100. There are also no trains back to London (or many other parts of the country) after a mid week game at OT so accomodation is also an issue. For 2 people your easily looking at a 150 quid plus outlay each just to go to the game and have a bed for the night.

This is a fair point,I went to the etihad stadium 2 years ago to watch Spurs on a monday night kick off was 8,If i remember, But last train back to London was 10.11 which was no good to any of us,So with hotel etc it does add up,It may be easier for people living far away to fly depending on price,Im in no way mocking a great prize and probably one i will never win but it could be costly if you live a fair distance from Manchester,All the same a great prize if you live within 50 miles of old trafford.

In Response to Re: Sky Priority Freeroll : As has been mentioned by stien they are great packages if you support man utd. Most football fans of other prem teams hate man utd (Liverpool, Newcastle, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea etc). So why cater for a small cross section of the community. As for priority status, I have to say you can do it at lower stakes. Playing £10/20 hypers (which required a modest br compared with some of the higher stakes games cash games) will get you to priority in under 120 hours play per month. The priority freeroll last month had a first prize of £500 cash, not to be sniffed at if you are a lower stakes player.

I mean a variety, maybe a few similar priced options? For what it's worth I hate football so wouldn't care for that prize.

For example they could have options such as a sky-diving session or a racing day etc, have some choice in there and it'll be a much better prize than cash IMO

I know it's possible, i'm just far off atm, I know if I keep playing i'll grind my way up eventually. I play £5.50 DYMs mostly and usually get 1500 points so need to either multitable seriously or increase stakes.

What I mean about the cash prize not meaning much is that a lot of the priority players are high stakes cash game grinders ie spending a few hours in a field of 50 (that's a guess) runners for a chance at winning a couple hundred quid isn't anything special for them.

The few times I have watched it you're waiting a long time to see a goal (if any)

    Too many "Floppers"

And the thing that despises me in all sports but mainly when it happens in a WORLD CUP, lack of electronnic monitoring eg USING THE **** CAMERA TO SEE IF IT WAS A GOAL <<< as you can see it annoys me lol

For example in tennis they can challenge the umpire's decision and check hawk cam or whatever it is, that's a start but I still think they should have someone checking every time so no false decisions are made, it doesn't exactly take long.

SB&G probably just have good contacts at old trafford and not every single prem club. This is a way better prize than some boring free bet.

Fair play TK, i'm not knocking the fact that sky are offering us as sky priority members these free prizes, the priority club/cash for points promo's are superb, just on this occasion as a non Utd fan this comp excludes me. I live in Manchester and I wouldn't get the bus there, i guess it's because i'm an old football fan but I have no interest in watching any game when my team isn't playing. I can see how this prize appeals to non prem league/"new" football fans and casual watchers but as an old fan of a rival team (yes I too stood on the terraces, it was so much better and far cheaper) it's about as much use as a chocolate tea pot to me.

    Thanks Mr S.

To be fair, it does not exclude you - you choose to exclude yourslf. That's a very different thing

Make the prizes darts related in future! For as long as I can remember I've followed & supported Phil Taylor, but I'll happily watch & enjoy any other match.

I cant stand the team but still think its a fantastic prize for any footy fan, I was in spurs fans @ newcastle weekend and still joined in although i cant stand them!

I have been United vs Liverpool dont like either but joined in, suppose it depends how much u love football IMO

if it was the rival team of my team and eg.millwall/Palace and was playing my team then fairplay i wouldnt go but footy is footy

    Haters gonna hate

I can see acegooners point , in fact after readin this thread im amazed that many cannot , i mean supposin its tickets to a concert and you hate the artist/group who is on , would ya really wanna go ?? i doubt it , the prize should have been to a club of the winners choice its as simple as that.

Thats interesting to hear, im surprised that a company in the sky stable doesnt have access to such packages at other prem clubs.
