well rich another night done and dusted at the tables made two huge/silly mistakes the important thing i imagine is that i'm aware i made them(no good at poker lingo yet so won't explain lol).
first one was in the main was mad with myself because I love the D/S but got over it second 1 was in the 9.15 D/S which i went very deep last 15 i think and again rush of blood to the head and missed out on cashing, pity really was playing well.
However i did cash in 2 of the new timed tourny's which i really enjoyed funny really made me play alot better than normal i felt plus the fact i was thick with myself for earlier mistake in main.
Again thanks for advice and roll on the growing bank roll hope you enjoyed omaha tonight

Cheers for that Dubmaster. Funnily enough I'm going to tackle timed tournaments as my second poker resolution of 2012 in February.
Awareness of your mistakes is the single biggest step to correcting them, btw. Nice work.
OK, so right now I'm in the studuio gallery at the brand new Sky Poker complex, during rehearsals for the relaunch on Feb 2nd. I'm watching James Hartigan and Redmond Lee doing a run-through of a typical show to test out all the new shiny knobs and whistles.
And mighty fine it's looking too.
Meanwhile, I'm busying myself on the site- getting ready for another Play The Presenter session as I tackle the Omaha tables for the last time tonight.
I'll be entering the Omaha MTTs from, hopefully (rehearsals permitting) 7pm tonight and might even dabble in a brief bit of PLO8. Gawd help me!
Would love to see you all there as usual and hear from you about your Omaha exploits and advice.
And, the winner of 'Best Contribution to this Thread" for January goes to... (drum-roll)
Dubmaster
...for his very honest comments about his bankroll management weaknesses and tilt tendencies.

Lol. Well, born in Stourport but moved to Bromsgrove within a few weeks and spent my first twenty years there.
Ok, we're into a new month. So my poker resolution for February is...
To get to grips with timed tournaments
Yep, it's all the all-new format on Sky Poker and, as Scotty77 said on last night's show, nobody- not even the big boys- has figured them out yet.
If you haven't come across them yet - here's the skinny...
Timed Tournaments
Experience the thrills and spills of the all-new Timed Tournaments on Sky Poker.
Played like a regular multi-table tournament, Timd Tournaments have one major twist: the tournament ends after a set amount of time. When the time is up, the prize money is awarded according to chip counts.
For example, Joe from London enters a 30-minute Timed Tournament. After the 30 minutes have lapsed, the play is frozen. At this time Joe has 10% of the chips in play, meaning he wins 10% of whatever is in the prizepool!
Timed tournaments are available in a variety of lengths, giving players the chance to play in a tournament, even if they’re in a hurry! Here are the current Time Tournaments available:
So what's the best tactics?
Race into an early lead and then tighten right up in the last few minutes to preserve your stack and therefore your cash prize whilst everyone else goes ballistic trying to double-up shortstacks?
Or in fact, is that the time to be picking off players because you know they're shoving with a very wide and desperate range?
Has anyone had any experience of them yet and can offer some advice on here?
I'm looking forward to playing them as I haven't done a single one yet and it's always exciting to try out a new poker format.
Starting from after 7pm, I'm going to try at least one of every time amount- 15 mins, 30 mins and 60 mins and report back with my findings.
I'd love you to come along for the ride. I'll post up where I'm playing and hope to see you there.
And keep reading below for details of a very easy-to-win prize tonight...
So, as an incentive to get you all trying timed tournaments, here's the deal.
Whoever posts on this thread the biggest ROI (Return On Investment)from a single timed tournament that takes place and finishes between the hours of 7pm and midnight tonight will win free entry into tomorrow night's main event- the £33 buy-in £15K Sky Sports Bounty Hunter.
So, play as many timed tourneys as you like. Then as and when you cash, cut and paste the tournament lobby result showing your player name and the amount you won, on this thread. Tell me how much the buy-in was and what percentage return on investment was.
How do you calculate ROI?
You divide the PROFIT (i.e. total prize minus buy-in and rake) by the total buy-in and then multiply by 100 to give you a percentage
Here's an example as a template, using a timed tournament that recently finished-
£200 GTD 15 mins
Player name- llollipop
Buy-in £5.50
Prize- £18.50
Profit= £13 (£18.50- £5.50)
divided by the buy-in ( £5.50)
=2.36
mulitplied by 100 to give a percentage=
236%
Banepa
4800
1
£24.01
FLORIDA
4587.50
2
£22.93
Ahmet-Sal
3750
3
£18.74
llollipopp
3700
4
£18.50
It's less complicated than it looks! And well worth your time if you're one of the few who bothered even if the percentage is fairly low! If it beats the others you win!
Whoever posts and can prove with a pasting of the tourney lobby the highest percentage wins the seat.
You can enter as many times as you like and I'll award the winner at the stroke of midnight- so remember to check back on the thread to see if you won.
Comments
Thanks for that.
Yes,it's true I misclicked in the second hand- I meant to shove all-in. But either way, I take on board your points about playing out of position.
I feel much of my problems/lessons to be learned in Omaha come from having had hold 'em hardwired into my brain for years and years.
I feel I played that first hand like a NLHE hand, and that's where it went Pete Tong.
I will digest your words and see if it makes any difference on my next Omaha table!
Awareness of your mistakes is the single biggest step to correcting them, btw. Nice work.
