3rd currently in the 60 minuter as we reach the halfway stage. Has the potential to be a big ROI, this one.

Argh, out in 16th after being one of the big chip leaders for most the game. Ah well 16/50 ain't bad and I've had some good fun tonight with these timed tournaments.

Interestingly, they're a bit like a satellite or the Survivor series- it's no use finishing right up there, you have to actually be alive when the music stops to win any money.

There's a strong argument in the 60 minute games to step out the action for a while when you've built up a good stack and make a definite profit.

Great effort Rick- but, at 261%, you just come in shy of Kiwi's post of 284%.

    Thanks for posting though.

So the winner is  Kiwini4u - well done Steve. Good luck in tomorrow night's main event!

This just in from Andrews re- Resolutions... Poker New Year Resolutions posted at 3/1/2012 1:13 PM GMT on SkyPoker.com bandini Posts: 1668 First: 14/2/2010 Last: 3/1/2012 Made any? Mine's is to stop being a serial depositor. I've checked the money I've blasted in the two years I've been playing and it's alarming. Could have taken the wee man to Disneyland with the amount I've gone through. Crazy. My leak is obvious though. It's playing drunk. Not that I play particularly badly but my BRM doesn't so much fly out the window as hop aboard a spaceship and propel itself into the stratospheres. Sick of building a BR and then blasting it in one night of lunacy. Past insanities including playing Lolufold at a £400 HU STT, playing Gerrard9 HU cash for my whole roll and countless £100 DYMs. Even wander into nl200 at times. You can almost hear the Jaws theme tune as the sharks circle. Unbelievably disheartening to wake up busto for the nth time. So I'm going to learn cash this year as MTTs drive me nuts at time. Start at the bottom and try to work my way up. Maybe play the DTD to get my MTT fix at times too. And also seriously limit the times I'm drunk at home alone and withdraw my BR anytime I know I'm going to be. Not going to be easy but nothing worthwhile ever is. Anyhoo, Happy New Year to all at Sky Poker and may the cards fall your way in 2012. Unless, of course, you're in a hand against me.

    I'll update then.

Only had £1.44 in my account when I wrote my OP.

My intention was to deposit £40 for nl4. Stuck my £1.44 on Rooney to score first in the Manc derby though and woo-hoo, 11/2 result! Same game I predicted the 3-2 CS/Rooney Ist GS on the goals, goals goals thread! Bit annoying I never bet as it must have been 200+/1! Nonetheless, free £5 bet from Sky. Read a thread on Punter's Corner from, I think, IDONKUCALL (sp) tipping one of Barney Curley's horses. Bet free £5 on that. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! @11/4. Then on my last night on the drink at New Year ran that up to £50ish playing DYMs.

So, I'm determined to go through the levels at cash. Having a social life, a job and a new girlfriend I struggled for the hours though. Few times I did get sessions in I was losing every time. Coolers/Bad Beats were mine and yes, some errors, but all  at nl4.

But then had a couple of uber sessions where pps hit sets that held and AA/KK got paid and TPTK seemed to hold continuously. BR up to £90ish but still struggling to get the hours in.

Tonight was my 1st bad night. Had deposited on Stars due to friends wanting to play me there and chickening out. So played a couple of STTs as I had a few beers. Ridiculous beats and coolers, I thought rng was set for newbies to win? It's worse than Sky! :-)

Anyway came back here and got AA busted in a dym against KQ which annoyed me. So played a £50 HU STT. As you do. For 50% of BR. Annoying. Lost. Depressing. Loaded up two £10 dyms (one No Limit Omaha by mistake) and deposited £30 for a Russian Roullette. Because that's the way I roll. Account £1ish in account and £30 deposited. RR won. Huge luck to cash in both dyms so withdrew the £30 and I've still deposited +- 0 really. And won another dym by the skin of my teeth. Back up to £80ish and ain't ever doing that again. Was feeling really good playing nl4 within my bankroll, enjoying the decisions to be made, not minding losing sessions, but really bad when I was nearly busto again tonight. Lesson, maybe, learnt.

But all's good. As long as I can scam a sickie tomorrow, lol. Way I roll.

Back to the grind when I've time and I'll feel good doing it. Feels like proper poker grinding the cash even if it's only nl4.

gl with the timed tourneys Rich. My thinking is it's good for grinding points and shouldn't be too hard to make small profits? Have only played a couple but certainly saw some of the grinders there.

Good night and God bless. 'tis the way I roll, lol.

    Great post, Andrew.

And I recognise myself in much of it. My recent cash exploits have come to a temporary halt- I multiplied my bankroll by 9 times in a short space but once the downswing began I reverted back to all my old habits- playing when tilting, widening my hand range because I'm desperate for action to get my roll back up again, losing focus and discipline and, worst of all, eventually going up a level to try and recuperate the money quicker.
it all ended in tears of course and so I ended up with nothing.

I will dust myself down and when I feel ready again I'll give it another go. This time I might stick to the 25p/50p tables as there's not as many regulars on there and maybe I'll do better, although it will obviously take me longer.

One of the morals from your story Andrew though surely must be- don't play on Stars! Stick with Sky! Lol.

Best of luck with your remianing roll- and don't play above it like me- no more £50 HU tables!

Right, I'm on the site till midnight playing timed tournaments.

    Same rules as last week-

whoever posts the biggest Return On Investment from a single timed tournament between 7pm and midnight tonight will win free entry into tomorrow night's £33 Sky Sports Bounty Hunter!

Here's what you need to do-

cut and paste proof that you cashed in a timed tournament and then calculate your ROI below- like this:

    Machka705011£17.62
    £400 GTD 30 mins

    Player name - Machka

    Buy-in £5.50

    Prize- £17.62

    Profit= £12.12  (£17.62 - £5.50)

    divided by the buy-in ( £5.50)

    = 2.20

     multiplied by 100 to give a percentage=

    = 220%

    Good luck!

Well done Steve- not as good as my score of course ;-) but at the moment the best one in contention for the prize.

It's amazing that not many people have noticed what good value this timed tourney comp I run every week is!

Bea Steve's score by cashing in a very cheap timed tourney before midnight tonight and get free entry into tomorrow night's main event- worth £33- and could be worth thousands if you go on to hit the final table!!!!

And thanks to you sweetylady for also giving it a go- 191% is also respectable but a non-winning score. If you can get another one in before midnight you might still nick it though!

    328% to beat!
