    Hi m8

    Just read your blog

Was just wondering - you said you adapted pretty quickly to 12 tabling with your new monitor from 4-6 tabling

Any tips as i,m struggling to keep up with any more than 5 tables. I,m also getting lag on my computer since i got my new monitor and am able to play more tables. Have you had any similar problems and could it be i need a bit more RAM (Got 2 x 1GB at the mo) . Thinking of getting 2 x 2GB sticks and seeing if that sorts it

Dont want to hijack your thread Lambert but just a quick answer to this.
More ram will deffinately help but unless you are running 64 bit windows 4gb is your limit.
Also if its a PC rather than a laptop your graphics card would be your other limiting factor.
    Hope this helps.

I would quite like to get involved with sweat sessions and whatnot. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to use Skype, though. I've never used it before and I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to anything computer related.

Facebook and I don't get on.

Just read your blog Paul and I noticed 1 thing. You referred to Emma as your "current" girlfriend. Is that to keep her on her toes?

@ MP33 - I guess the only way to get used to playing mroe tables is to play a couple more than normal and do that until you're used to it, then increase and so on. The main thing though is that you need to be very confident in your decision making abilities in pretty much every single spot that can come up. Obviously sometimes wierd situations will come up you might want to spend a couple more seconds on and you might time out on the odd table (that's no big deal) but if you're playing 12 tables, you're generally gonna be making each decision and clicking the button within like 2 seconds. Imo, it helps having been a gamer just cos it means you have better reactions/co-ordination and will just generally be able to navigate the tables and make your decisions quicker.

I always try to do anything that will make things more efficient, so if you have a spare bit of time go and tick the autofold button when you have 72o in the CO or whatever.

RE: Lag.... I really have no idea, I've never had an issue with lag on Sky ever even now I'm 12tabling unless I'm doing something else at the same time, like screensharing/watching youtube/watching 861 on the live stream.

FWIW, I play on a laptop (with a 2nd monitor you saw in the blog) and specs of that are only...

    Intel Core i3 2.53GHz processor
4GB RAM (3.8GB usable apparently lol... dunno what that means)
    64 bit Windows

    ======================================================================

@Borin - Yeah would definitely be good to get you involved. Can send you a PM on here if you like to explain but basically you just need to google 'Skype' and download it for free. I don't think you need to make a log-in for it if you use hotmail/windows live (whatever they call it now), you just use your email address and the password you use for your hotmail emails. If you get on, then you can add me.... Lambert1801 .... yes I know, Lambert180 was taken :(

@ FlyingDagg - Lol, good point. I wasn't sure how to word it with me talking about the past.

@Benc - Cheers mate, aint seen you around for ages!

Some of you may know, but I've been having a pretty rough time on the cash tables which has now been going on for the better part of 4 weeks.

As per some advice from Dohhhhhh, I decided to have a more chilled night tonight just playing a few MTTs. It was a night of near misses really but still managed to make a decent profit which is more than can be said for cash recently ;)

Played the £11 £4k BH, went semi-deep but missed out on a cash and finished with £8.44 of heads.

Not so deep in the mini, but still probably 2hr+ hours in before I bust with just £1.88 of heads.

Played the UKOPS supersat, £13 BI and 1st got a £530 high roller seat, 2nd - 6th got a £110 ME seat. I'd pre-regged both cos I just wanted to play for the cash, and ended up busting in 8th, 2 spots off the seats :( pretty big bubble for a £13 BI.

My best result was in the main event where I finished 22nd out of 806 runners for a little over £170. Nice cash but still really feels like a near miss and I'd said quite far out I wouldn't be happy with anything less than a FT.

    Lambert180    0    22    £66.50 + £105.30 Head Prizes    6

    ===================================================================

Still though, finished about +£100 for the night on MTTs so happy with that.

Anyway, I sent a contact request.

Nice one , how is your bankroll looking @ the moi ?

    Hi Sue,

Tbh bankroll has been taking a beating recently. I'm currently in the middle of a £1.5k downswing on cash at the moment, just seem to be incapable of bagging 1-2 half decent winning sessions without having a monster losing session days later and wiping it all out (and more). Luckily a bit of C4P and small bits and bobs from MTTs has kept my head above water.

    ============================================================================

On a similar topic to the above, I think all this battering I'm taking at cash is starting to just leave my head feeling mashed. I've looked at an absolute ton of my HHs and while there's some bits of bad play here and there and I'm by no means the perfect cash player, a massive amount of the hands are just completely standard and it's mostly just variance... whether that be in the form of not getting value from big hands, getting coolered, getting bad beats when aipf, opponents catching up a lot more than they will do long term etc etc.

Obv I'm experienced enough to know that changing game won't change how I run, but it can definitely change how you feel mentally and that's a massive part of poker... nothing worse, both in terms of just how you feel and your actual results, than to sit down expecting to lose.

So I'm changing things up a bit, will be playing a few more MTTs this week and gonna generally be grinding alot of HU SnGs (Turbos). Chance to go back to a format I know I'm a winner at, earn double points and get a break from cash.

Then I'm planning on putting together my first proper schedule for a UKOPS (possibly selling some action), and will hopefully come back feeling all refreshed to finish out the month with double points on cash. Also got SPT towards the end of the month too.

New blog gonna be coming for SPT Grand Final, will post up a link when it's done.

    Paul

I know you take regular trips overseas to play tourneys.
Have you ever considered playing cash in these exotic places?

The games you play in on here are stronger presently than at any time since I started on Sky.
Obviously I'm not saying you can't beat it but the games where 3/4 good regs are playing are never going to be easy.

The banter is good but now you're doing this for a living the profits are really what it's all about

    Just a thought.

(Just realised that Sky prob wouldn't like this post. For balance, I think you should play loads and loads of tourneys on here as Sky is clearly the best site in the world)

Sorry to hear the bankroll is taking a battering at the cash tables. Are you going to need to move down stakes?

What sort of things are you sturggling with? Are you putting enough volume in?  Are you making sure you have a good grind schedule? and good balance?  Are you making sure that your get regular excercise and can switch off from poker and relax with mrs and friends?

I've been there mate, i grinded cash online for about a year off work in 2008 and had a pretty successfull financial year but I wouldn't want to go back to playing full time unless i knew i could knew i could smash £60K a year easily in proft without poker stress spilling over into my normal life and had a bankroll of £30K in reserve purely made from poker.

I personally dont think you should move away from the cash tables 100%... as this is where most pros will make their bread and butter. You should grind it out and work out where your leaks are, (tilt? grinding out a downswing?) if you don't feel like playing then just fire up 8 tables of a particular reg who is causing you a problem, record the screen, make some notes regarding his play in 3bet+ pots and then destroy him when you go back to the tables.

Its okay to take some time out to follow your dream mate, but don't waste this opportunity by going back to your comfort zone.

You need to play to withdraw significant amounts of money and on a regular monthly basis.... whats your plan on this front? living on rakeback?? Getting a good poker schedule in place is key and balance other parts of your life as well fella!!!

You don't want to go back to employments with regrets that you didn't give it your all... 100%... playing poker full time is dangerous, it can consume your soul and suck all the good relationships out of your life!!! be prepared for that

Also I think you should seriously be chasin some way to get sponsered by sky or something to ease the burden.  Wa gonna mention this when you first said you'd be playing full time but I would recommend to sky this blog is the sort of thing they should promote.

I'm off to bed so will reply to TPTP tomorrow cos it's a massive post and wanna give a good reply.

@Jac - I don't know if you're mistaking me for someone else or it's just a joke that's gone completely over my head lol but that doesn't sound like me you're describing. I'm 26 and have left the country (not counting Scotland and Wales) once in my life and that was to France when I was about 7.

Related to this actually... I may post about this tomorrow but in short, Emma's brother who lives in San Francisco has fallen very ill over the last few days, so I think we're going to be flying out soon to see him, so that'll be my 2nd time out of the country and my first time in America, although sadly not under the best of circumstances.

But yeah the games on here are definitely tighter/more solid than they have ever been, to the point where it's become an absolute nightmare to try and get value out of anyone at times. One thing I think I need to do is reduce my number of tables, and get back to really playing some poker because playing like a robot (I aint quite that bad :p) aint the way to beat a table full of robots.

I really agree with you though, and I'm desperate to get out there and play some live cash. I always mean to do it at an SPT but annoyingly the next one is at DTD and I've been warned that if you wanna play live cash, it's definitely better to play at a proper casino and not DTD (a cardroom), and that while the games can still be soft there, they are nowhere near as soft as in casinos. I think, SPTs aside, I need to plan a few days out to my nearest casinos (probably Reading or Luton) and give it a whirl.

Yeah, it went over your head. Even I know what it means ;)

Granted, not great circumstances to visit San Fran but having seen my beloved Man City over there in 2011, I can assure you it's a great city. Hopefully he gets better, but if you do venture over don't forget your ESTA and if you want me to find you cheap flights just PM me (I'm essentially an unpaid travel agent in my spare time!).

I don't play live cash very often, but the last time I was at DTD (for the Grand Prix a few weeks ago), the cash tables were so soft. There were players happy to get £100+ in pre flop with KJ and A9 etc. This might not be the norm for DTD but I was loving it!

Sigh I'm so slow :( Cheers for the interpretation guys!

Ok well same applies about me wanting to play more live, but yeah wanna give things a go in my more exotic locations too.

Cheers Harry, we've currently in the process of trying to get passports ASAP (Emma has never had one and I got my first one when I was 16 and I'm 27 in a couple of weeks so it's just recently ran out). Cheap flights would be good, I'm the ultimate life nit... think the best Emma could find was in the region of £500 per person, is that good/average/bad?
