Cheers JJ. What I plan on doing is having a chat with some of the suits about the forum sections to see which ones we consolidate, etc. Fair comments though.
Over a week ago I made a post on the private team51 Facebook page suggesting we'd probably need a new section for diaries on this forum.
Anyway, I put my views in my (errrr) diary yesterday. Here they are copy & pasted;
As for the ‘should diaries be in GPC’ debate; I’m on the fence. When I started this one there were hardly any other active diaries running and I don’t think any of them were being updated daily. Since then there's obviously been a big spate of new ones cropping up. It’s true that GPC was very quiet before the diaries came into vogue. Few threads were of much interest, there was alot of moaning and the forum was dominated by a small circle of serial posters. The diaries have rejuvenated GPC and now many more people are posting than before. However, I don’t think it should be allowed to get to the point where GPC is flooded (much like it was with team threads before Team Talk was created). I think it’s fine to leave things as they are for now, but if new diaries continue to be born at the current rate I feel a new forum section will have to follow.

lol - I was was thinking about the mods while posting that - Can,t be easy
I,m not normally a forum person if that makes sense. I did originally sign up to "the other big forum" but it just baffled me with so many different areas and sub categories and have probably done about 10 posts in 3 or 4 years,
Thats what i like about the Sky Forum. Its much more user friendly and easier to use for simpletons like myself. This is why i like Dohhh,s idea of getting rid of some of the sub categories or at least not making more of them.
I can see it from both points on this one and am sure Sky will get it right whatever happens. They normally do
The prob is, all the "minor" things r sent away and given sub catagories.
That's why they're dead, no1 cares.
Should be the other way round.
All the "current affairs" stuff should be here. (play the presnter info, DTD info, leagues, show threads, spt stuff, announcements about the site, apologies for the site playing up, 'thewy on another final table", "Hoggers is 45 today", xxx is unwell, etc etc etc"
Everything else should be elsewhere.
And for anyone who cba to click 1 button to open a diary, well it's obviously not worth reading.
True GPC should be just very current stuff, and all be it General - not specific
All other cats should be very specific, you either go there or not - depends on your intrest I only visit Clinic & GPC, the other cats just don't intrest me but if they did I would go there and all you have to do is click a link on the left of the page, if you can't do that then you shouldn't be using the internet in the first place )
How annoying is it when a bad beat is posted in GPC for example or a post in placed in the wrong section Diary's are very specific so deserve a cat of thier own
Streamline this forum!
It does bug when I see non poker related chat in a general poker chat section, or is that just me Mayb call it "General Chat" - or mayb "Chicken Chat" -mmmm foooooooooooooooooooooooood
I am a rookie at all this but started a diary about 5 weeks ago and have posted everyday since. All I can say is as soon as I log on each day I go to general chat and read all the other diaries and see if any comments on mine. I do not see any benefit by them being a seperate thread. By mixing with other general topics I also see if there is anything else I want to read before I start my day. If they were all on seperate threads I wouldnt bother. So my answer is leave them where they are.

I vote for this.
Maybe keep The Shed and footy/betting separate but that's a minor quibble.
Thought i would give my opinion on where the diaries should be I really dont care. I can click around a simple forum screen and find things if i really really want to, im way past needing spoon fed. So my opinion is I have no opinion.

90% of ALL Forum Diaries die within 2 weeks of starting.
I very much doubt that this Forum could ever sustain more than 3 or 4 Diaries which last beyond a few weeks. It is a fad, & will soon pass, sadly.
Return to this thread in a month or two, & you'll wonder what the fuss was about!
NB - At time of Posting, there are exactly three Diaries on Page 1 of GPC.

This is very true, normally it's when the author goes on a down swing and the thought of posting constant negative results and feelings gets a bit tedious. But likewise posting positive results is always a good feeling. Motivation is a good word!
I have seen a lot of diaries fade within days/weeks
My new one may do the same soon and slip away quietly but still there very therapeutic and do provide good balance even when running not so good.
If you tell us what you feel can be tweaked, Posted by Sky_Dave
Well then...
Simultaneous breaks Moving the player who is about to be the BB, and not the button Simulataneous breaks Having every player's chip count clearly displayed AT ALL TIMES - including the people who put their place name as "a really long location so you can't see my chip stack" Simulataneous breaks. Finally, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned simultaneous breaks.
