Good question, & Machka & James have answered it perfectly.
There is nothing we can do about this. It's their train set, & they can impose whatever Rules they so wish. We don't have to like them, & they don't have to care. That's the way it is, I'm afraid. We either accept the Rules, & get on with it, or do the other thing - go elsewhere. There's no way on earth I'm gonna rock the boat with Harrahs, I firmly believe we all have a choice, which comes down to "like it or lump it". If I don't like what they do, then I won't go. All Clients have the same right.
And when it comes to the WSOP, there is no "elsewhere". So we have to comply, & I'm not one for serial knocking, it's so negative.
So......
We have had a long series of meets here at Sky Poker to see how best we can deal with these onerous restrictions. It would be self-defeating if the Support Crew got themselves thrown out of the cardrom & have our Press Accreditation cancelled, so we'll all be good little children. Sort of......
We have come up with a number of ways which we think will help us overcome these problems, & we have come up with a few, umm, "work-rounds". It will need some help from the players, but we think some or all of them won't mind that.
The days when we can wander up to the Table "how you doing Sue, what happened, any big hands?", or even do mini-interviews at the Table, have gone. But we still think we can do a pretty good job of letting the folks back home know what is going off, & we'll be busting a gut to ensure we do.
I don't care what people say about Sky i now know for a fact the truth. I hate to say it because i never truly believed online poker is rigged or anything like that but after playing for a few months and running my bankroll up to a good amount i chose to withdraw over half of it and play with my remaining profits which was still a substantial amount of cash. Funnily enough ever since i withdrew my money i have been running as badly as i can ever remember and sometimes the beats are beyond belief. 3 times in 1 cash game sitting i lost with Aces to a weaker Ace which is only a 6-7% shot. I am well aware of variance and bad runs and have many in the past but i really struggle to put this down to that at the moment becasue you can't be unlucky that much for so long. I think of a lot of skypoker and until recently thought it was a great site but now i have seen what happens as soon as you withdraw a substantial amount of money from the site. I can guarentee as soon as i deposit a similar amount i will running like an average player again. Posted by callumtres
Withdraw = run bad
Deposit = run normal
How do I ensre I run good?
Coz with all the people withdrawing and running bad, someone must be running good?????
hi tikay. whats the best way to play kings ive slow played them and played them aggresivly but an ace always seems to drop in and some1 has a raggy ace. in the last 2 wekks ive had kings 6 times and lost all 6. many thanks. Posted by twixy69
Hi Twixy.
Play them fast - or at least, not slow, is my advice.
An Ace is a VERY powerful card in poker, & with K-K against a rag ace, Mr Raggy still has a 30% chance of pairing his ace on the Board.
But that's the moany-woany way of looking at it. Try "Raggy Ace man has a 70% chance of NOT hitting his ace"......looks better now, eh?
We MUST accept the 30% loss ratio in order to cash in on the 70% win ratio. It's that simple, we can't win with Kings - or even Aces - every time, nor should we expect to. After all, tomorrow, it may be YOU with the Ace in your hand.
The other thing to remember is that it depends how we play our hand. If we play them badly, or even sub-optimally, we WILL lose more often than we should. The LAST thing we want to do is play Aces or Kings 4 or 5 way - it is a NIGHTMARE to play them that way.
Sometimes...it is OUR fault we lose with Kings, or Aces.
Poker players are like car drivers - they all play the game perfectly, or drive their car perfectly. Or they think they do.....
Losing with K-K 6 times on the bounce is demoralising, but it happens, & it might be our fault. Variance is not a regular graph, it has lots of peaks & troughs in it. Ride them, enjoy them.
I may have lost with Kings 6 times running, or lost 10 straight races - but I would not know, as what is the point of dwelling on it?
Finally, try forgetting hands you LOSE, & remembering instead, hands you were perhaps fortunate to win. It does happen.
Good Luck. Poker is a GREAT test of mettle, character, & resolve. No other game sorts the men from the boys, & Ladies from the girls, quite as well as poker does.

Afternoon Callum.
Umm, well, I don't really know how best to answer that, really.
You say you can "guarantee" you'll run well if you deposit again?
I say you cannot "guarantee" any such thing.
The tale that you run bad when you withdraw is the oldest tale in Online Poker, & it's been levelled at every single Online Poker site.
The problem is, it's nonsense.
It has never ONCE been proven. Not once. Not by anyone. Ever.
And if - IF - it were realistic to somehow mess with the software to penalise players who withdraw money, (be a clever bit of software that, eh?) how illogical from a business view would that be? Poker Sites exist to MAKE MONEY. They spend fortunes to "re-activate" lapsed players, to reduce "churn", to lure back players who leave the Site.
So, think this through.
If - IF - a Site could, hypothetically, mess with the software at will, what do you think they would do to lure back a player who had withdrawn his winnings?
Make it more likely he'd lose?
Make it more likely he'd win?
Not hard to figure that one, is it?
Poker is also NOT a "player plays the house" game, like blackjack, or roulette. It's player v player. As SOON as you enter a Tourney, or MTT, the site gets it's money, via the Reg fee. 10%, 15%, whatever. Tick tick tick, drip drip srip, cherching cherching, cherching. Ditto cash games. Win a hand, the Site takes it's rake. TY TY TY. Messing with the software configures no benefit upon the Site whatsoever.
Finally, there have been about 350 million hands on Sky Poker so far. Every one has been clean & honest. Not a shred of credible evidence has been offered to suggest otherwise. Lots of nonsense knocking, but not a shred of evidence. How many hands do you think have been played on PokerStars? Sixty quillion-jillion? Or Full-Tilt? 50 twillion-gillion? Again, the same accusations get levelled at them, every single day, but not a shred of credible evidence has ever been found. You'd think by now, given how clever we poker players think we are, someone might have unearthed a shred of evidence by now, would you not?
It's just negative thinking, Sir, & you will end up tying your head in a knot if you really believe withdrawing money from a poker Site makes a jot or tickle of difference. It does not. Simple logic tells us that.

If you don't want to "rock the boat," you'd better start referring to them as Caesar's Entertainment! Harrah's is so 2006 ;-)

I'm not entirely sure, given the current political correctness required of us all, if Cuticle Watch will ever be restored as we know it.
However, we remain free to take as many photographs or "images" as I believe most are now called, as we wish, subject only to the rule, which is strictly applied, & always has been, "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY".
So, expect even more Las Vegas & WSOP photographs this year, & we'll include a good cross-section of pretty boys & handsome girls.
It's fortunate indeed that my photography skills, self-taught as they are, remain unique & different to what you'll see anywhere else.
PS - Can you guess where this one was taken? Clue. It was not in Vegas.

Just a quick question, was just playing a cash game and the flop was A 10 Q spades, the turn, J spades and I think you can tell where this is going, river K spades, just wondered how many times have you seen that and what are the odds on a royal flush on the board?

No idea. Must be pretty huge. I don't recall ever seeing it, to be honest, but I've been round the poker block a few times, & I tend to forget these things. If it can happen, it will, eventually.
Still, everyone in the hand chopped the pot, so nobody lost!
In a Live Tourney last week, at G-Luton, there was that rarest of beasts, quads over quads.
Somebody called me a fish tonight, can u explain what fish is, cause if im doing something wrong, i would like to know what it is. i thought i playing ok, but obviously not help

Good evening Mr AvroLanc, & on your very first Post here, congrats on generating the 3,000th reply on this thread, which pleases me greatly.
I am assuming you are new to poker, too.
"fish" is a sort of generic term in poker, it's technical meaning is "you are no good at poker, you are hopelsess, you don't have a clue".
However, in reality, it is an expression that reflects on the user, not the receiver - let me guess, you were called a "fish" after winning a hand?
In reality, it's what ill-mannered, intolerant, "bad losers" call players who beat them in a hand of poker, though it has comedy meaning between friends.
It's almost the saddest thing about poker, that so many players can't handle losing a hand. And who complain about "bad players". Who they can't beat.
If you get called a "fish" frequently, you'll be wnning plenty, trust me. Ignore them, they are just immature.
So, to your name - "AvroLanc". Anything to do with a famous aeroplane, the Avro Lancaster?
Fine machine. There is one at Duxford Imperial Air Museum.
