    Hi Lois,

    Welcome to Sky Poker.

If you are referring to the next Series of TKO - which will have a new name, as "O" got well & truly owned - you don't get "picked", you just sign up, & you are in. Just await an e-Mail from Sky Poker in the next few days, & return that, & you are in - it's that easy.

The e-Mail will ask you to choose my Team (Team tikay), another Team, or "no preference". My recommendation would be to choose Team tikay, as we have yet to lose a single series of TKO, & the Winning Team get a £1,000 Freeroll.

    Good Luck.

Hi Tikay, a pleasure playing with you as always, a plethora of Omaha questions for you

    1. Can there be a thread in the Community specifically for Everything Omaha, with sub-sections, such as Ask Tikay, and maybe boards for newbie, intermediate and advanced, with tips and advice from yourself, essentially a micro-site for Omaha.

    2. Omaha is starting to get a foot hold and cover the guarantees which is great news. Can we have a range of buy in's? At the moment they are all £5, i would like to play a little higher, i was thinking of the 8.15 £200 guaranteed at £10? some might want to play a little lower, maybe £3 for some of them.

    3. Omaha Bounty Hunters are mental, have you tried them yet? Are the tactics any different in these to the standard bounty hunter tournies?

    4. Can you suggest any good Omaha books to read? I understand all of the basics, i'm looking for something in the intermediate range?

    5. In Hold-em the average hand is 2pr, what is the average hand in Omaha?

    6. Any Omaha hints and tips? Things i've seen so far to improve include; selection of starting hands, don't draw to flushes other than the nuts, when u have a house, watch out for bigger houses, as they are much more common than in hold em. Any nuggets will be great!

Thanks Tikay, thats it for now i'm sure there's more to follow!

    Adrian

In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Regrettably, yes, I am. But I just don't have time to use it - I last opened it 6 months ago, & even then, there were hundreds of "Friend Requests" awaiting approval. (In the world of Facebook, a "Friend" is not exactly a friend by any reasonable definition!....). It's in my real name - "Tony Kendall" - & there is also, embarrassingly, a "tikay Appreciation Society" on Facebook. Again, I've not opened that in over a year I don't think.   I like to believe that that one was started by admiring & nubile young females. Really, I just don't have the time to mess around on Facebook, it's a time-sponge, & I'm a little short of time, both in the near term, & long term, if you get my drift. I have Sky Poker, APAT, "the other place", & I need a little time to play poker, schmooze, &, you know, do nocturnal stuff. May I ask why you enquire?

Hi Tikay and guys. Can you please let me know what the situation with anouncing your cards during a hand? I have seen the pros do it on tv but I am told when I play at my local pub if I announce my hand it is dead. It seems like a grey area. Please help.

    That's a lovely thought ckd.

Sadly, I would imagine that it's not really possible, for complex legal reasons.

She got a CD player for Christmas, & if she needs a new game - PacMan or whatever it's called these days - , or some LP's, I already have personal pledges from a number of Community Members (who wish to remain anonymous) which cover the cost, & I'll chip in whatever's necessary.

Please don't think I'm being ungrateful - I'm not at all - it's just that money is the least of the problems right now.

What else can we all do? Well I think today's Thread has been magnificenmt - priceless in fact, as it will take Lauren ages to go through it.

It's likely that someone will go & visit her when she's better, if so, I'll let everyone know, & perhaps they can send cards or pressies down then. It's also possible (hush, the Suits don't know yet!) that Lauren may get a VIP Tour of the Studios here when she is better, so we could pass on stuff then.

Thank you very much for the lovely suggestion.

£12500 GTD Sky Poker Tour Event 2. This is an offline event to be held at Aspers Casino, Newcastle on 9th of January 2010. (9 extra places avaialable via direct buy-in)
For months now SKY have said there is no direct buy in to the spt legs, what a turn around, guess i'll just wait in the future and buy in instead of trying to qualify for a select game.....the gloss is taken off it.

I feel a big let down with all my travel costs for a tour that someone can just buy into if they live down the road.

If i could get a refund for my expenses SKY can sell my seat.

    Disapointed.

    Hi Hjaltlyjyltytljland,

I hear you, loud & clear. If you come & see me on Saturday, I'll explain.

We had an emergency Telecon today, & were between a rock & a hard place, due to the uncertain weather situation. We discussed all options, for over an hour, & it's was hard to come to a decision that was fair to everyone - it really was a difficult call.

I'll explain properly on Saturday. Have a safe journey.

PS - How bad is the weather up there in Shetland-Ville??

    Hi tikay.

15 mins ago was sitting on 10 seater 50p/£1.00. I have 10 10 under the gun and raise pre flop to £4.00.

I get 3 callers - (villian is second caller and has been playin a little loose). flop comes qc 5d 5c. I put in bet of £15.00. Ist caller folds and villian goes all in 4 £160.00 - I have £97.00 left.

Usually I would instant fold but this got me thinking - I can't put him on aa ak and kk because he would have raised pre flop. Can't put him on qq because he has flopped the boat and cant really see him risking his entire stack with aq/ak, which begs the question is he pushing with a flush draw to a paired board or has he hit the 5? (FYI I folded my hand!)

    That's a really tough spot.

I'd be pretty sure I was winning, but it takes some backbone to call that Bet!

My advice would be "Call", but whether I could do it is another matter.

Anyone else got a view on this?

I'm heading home now, up an icy M25, M40 & M1, & I'll be at home all day Thursday, then on Friday morning, I head further north to Newcastle, in readiness for Saturday's SPT.

Southbound on Sunday, via Luton's £100 jobbie, & back in the office on Monday.

Take care, & keep the questions coming, I'll deal with the remaining ones on Thursday..

hi tikay. I posted a question yesterday and didnt get a reply. I am very confused about being able or not to announcing my hole cards during a hand. I play at my local pub and have lost a lot of chips in tourny play and a lot of money at cash games because I have said I have got the straight or I have got a king my hand when asked by an opposing player. Can you please clear up exactly what I can and cant say during a hand. eg can I say I have a flush? And what if I said this after the flop when I only had a draw and then hit my flush on the turn or river. The most recent problem I had was heads up on a cash table. I had 7clubs and 2clubs. The flop came 6c 5h 4c. There was a lot of betting. The turn came 3c. I obviuosly had a flush. I bet big and my opponent asked if I had a 7 or 2 which would make me a straight. I said yes but I didnt mention they were clubs. The river came kh and he bet big saying that if I called and showed a 2 or 7 my hand was dead. I turned my called and turned my cards over. There was approx £100 in the pot and although I had the flush and he had nothing he pulled the cash towards him. Was he right to do this? And I really need to know what I can and cant say. I have seen the pros saying what they have on tv and their hands are not dead. Thanks for any reply.

I'm sorry I missed this question yesterday Tommy.

The Rules vary from Venue to Venue I'm afraid, but as a general rule, all good establishments, & TDA Rules, are quite clear on this. You may NOT identify your hand during play. If you wish, you may LIE about it, though.

What really sacared me though is you said the geezer took the pot. What? WHAT? Chop his hands off! Was there nobody running the Event? I would not go there again if I were you.

I've seen enough cheating, angle-shooting, moody's, scamming, grimming, dodgy dealing, & outright cheating in Live Poker to write a book. Ignore the headcases, Online Poker is angelic by comparision to Live Poker!
