true but by your same rationale do you truly believe he offered bad value @ 9/4 even IF he had of won?? 9/4 reeks of value compared to the 100/1 ON he would have been if he'd become champion, even in an Olympic year. even a homebred golfer could win by record total in the open and sink winning putt for europe in ryder cup and still not have touched him in the voting. the old joke andy murray is british as still in wimbledon but scottish when hes knocked out, as shown in your quotes of now 8/1 is alot more closer to home than you'd think.

top3 will be him, best olympian and wiggins. murray will be 3rd.

Good luck with your Murray bets, but soz, can't be having him @ 9/4 even IF he wins tomorrow. Don't think he will get enough votes outside the middle class strawberries and cream brigade. Most of joe public don't warm to his miserable personality. I think if  Ennis wins gold,  it will take Farrah or Adlington to win a double gold to stop her triumphing.

U will note from my previous post - above - that regardless of the outcome of the final I didn't fancy him for SPOTY. When I wrote it, I hadn't even taken Wiggins into consideration. It's a very volatile market though. Wiggins will be fav going into the Olympics (assuming he wins TDF). But I bet he isn't come post Olympics. A double gold for Farah or anyone else, or an Ennis gold will propel them to fav. In fact, if he fails to win a medal, and doesn't final at Flushing Meadow, u fancy a wager that he doesn't come in the top 3?

i qouted ur above post, even highlighted the IF. dont think he'll win it now personally but it's naive to think he wouldnt be anywhere but first if he had of won on sunday. hed have been an absolute certainty. and i cant see how a certainty would represent bad value at 9/4

just read this thread Paul, on the team51 fb page i posted that i got Andy Murray @ 6/1 before his semi final. will be a nice £700 bonus a fortnight before christmas methinks.

He,s still got the Olympics as well. I personally think that speech will get him more votes than ppl think.

As said above this is a very volatile market and has changed so much in the short time i started the thread. Think there will be a few more suprises to come

He was 1/8 the other day but after Mo,s heroics he,s obviously drifted a little bit

Any other year you could make a case for the top 4 or 5 winning it

I remember looking at the odds before Olympics and you could get evs on GB getting more than 11 golds ( 28 now) - Could have got a monster price on over 25

It is alost inevitable that Wiggins will probably win and if he does then fair play to him, but it is refreshing to see four or five other people (as MP33 said) listed who would have won it themselves in virtually any other year. I rated Andy Murray's chances before thinking about the Olympics and the Tour de France...now if he HAD won Wimbledon that would have made the betting for this really interesting!

A spanner in works would be if MURRAY wins the us open, (better chance there then wimbledon i think), he would also become no.1 in world if he was to win us open.

All making out to be great year for BRITAIN as a whole, and makes me very proud to be british.
Just hope england football team can take some of this momentum into the world cup qualifers.

    Gl if having a bet.

If wiggo doesnt win sports personality then im emigrating to another country.
I mean winning his 5th gold medal as well as Tour de France. As for his speech was
absolute ENGLISH humour. "Just about to draw the Raffle now".

He is a personality. Like Mark Cavendish was a personality.
Murray = Miserable. Ben Ainslie = Miserable

And Sir Chris Hoy said that Brad Wiggins Tour de France win was the
greatest SPORTING achievement in British History.
    Case closed.

spanner smanner they could stage (and i mean STAGE) the world cup final the day before the SPOTY and andy murray could renounce all his Scottish heritage and play up front for England and over head kick in the winner from a Rooney cross v Brazil and Wiggo would still win in it. Now if it he'd won Wimbledon that could be very different. But US Open??? Nae chance get real

Don't discount Mo Farah or Rory McIlroy after winning the USPGA

Not gonna be an easy choice this year at all...........

i had murray in the top 3 previously but now ive even had a rethink that Mo Farah could displace him it will be tight but the key word is personality and it has to be a straight contest v the lovely Ennis and Wiggo to win with the latter a pretty hot favourite. The tour de france, the most Olympic medals in History for GB and the whacky sideburns should all help to clinch it

I,ve just laid my bet on Mo Farah off now as the odds havent really changed apart from Jessica Ennis drifting slightly.
Its definately between these two now with not many big events left and although they both deserve it I think Wiggins will edge it - Getting that gold within a cpl of weeks of winning the The Tour de France has never been done before and he,s still got the Tour of Britain to go which should attract huge crowds and plenty of support for him

After Andy Murrays US open win the odds have changed slightly again.

For the first time you can better than evens on Bradley Wiggins. Its definately between these 3 now imo, but still think Wiggins will win, esp if he wins the Tour of Britain

Was getting a bit worried when Mo farah wasn,t in the top 3 - Just wish i,d lumped more on it as it would have been a farce had he not won it

    Anyone else lump on it?
