had this question while i was out of work and got some abuse in chat because of it. im a freelance graphic designer by trade so have a lot of freetime. But during times of unemployment poker has actualy kept me a float as being on the dole you vertualy dont have enough to live on as some seem to think. Your br on a poker site is completely differnt unless its in the thousands. Just because your out of work shouldnt mean you cant enjoy poker!

I'm one of those who is sat at home all day posting on the forum and sometimes playing in the afternoons although it's usually in the evening. Had to stop work at 50 due to illness (now 58) Luckily I make a profit so my poker is funding itself and I'm not wasting my sickness benefit or income support.

I'm a business analyst for an HR/Payroll software company. So, someone else has has to write code based on the stuff I've made up and make it work. One day I will get found out and the dream will end.

In the meantime I play poker in the evenings, post occassionaly on the forums drive my wife mad and get drunk on Fridays while trying to play poker in the local club. Or is it trying to get drunk while playing poker? I can never remember.

In Response to Re: None of us have jobs? : Without commercialism none of us would be working. Work as we know it was something that came along out of a necessity to earn money in order to pay for things. If you can do something you like to achieve this, great, if not, tough - you've still gotta earn though. I won't get into this debate though cause it's not the place for it! 90% of people working would quit their job in a second if they binked the Euromillions.

I'm a 3rd Level SysAdmin for a Datacentre based in Reading. Currently I'm on a 2.5 week holiday, (un)fortunately everyone I know is still at work so most of my time has been spent getting in more voloume than I usually otherwise would.
Otherwise normally I play most evenings and manage to get home in time for the main event each night :-)

I work for a large Oil Services Company , which is mainly involved in Subsea Construction and Pipelay .Have worked my way up through the ranks over the years and have been involved in some interesting jobs , the Kursk Submarine that sank being one  . Has taken me to some nice locations over the years and some not so nice ( Lagos should not on your holiday list ) .
Mainly play in the evenings small stakes MTT's and BH's , enjoy the banter with the other players and sometimes get the odd cash .

I am 54 and was a kitchen sales designer before my illness stopped me working 18 months ago,
Glad to say I am like FlyingDagg & the small profit I make playing poker means I can still do things I enjoy, as benefits no way cover living. Hopefully that continues because for me reload isn't an option.

In Response to None of us have jobs?:
I was sat here today thinking about how many people post on this forum regularly throughout the day. There are a few, and they're not good enough to be pros/play stakes too small. Without naming names they are avid posters in GPC and the Clinic. Very avid. I was wondering if they're actually on the dole or not and how can they afford to sit on Sky all day when they clearly don't make a living from it. I then thought maybe they are students but it seems like they're all quite old. So, what do we all do for a living?  I'm a student due to start at Edinburgh uni =) Looking to go into horticulture and stuff.

If you don't think it's of any concern to the original poster, then why are you replying?

On topic: I'm a personal carer, just trying to get back into poker a bit to keep me out of the pubs!
