In Response to Re: Ramblings of an old man:
I heard the news about Dave Mackay this morning. It's very sad. Legend seems to be thrown around all over the place these days. Dave Mackay was a true legend at Derby. The story behind that picture was that Mackay was convinced that Bremner had tried to injure him. He'd gone for the leg that he's broken twice previously.  My Aunt actually knew him well. She'll be very very upset this morning.

Nobody - nobody - messed with Dave Mackay.

Times were different then, of course, "crunch tackles" were the order of the day, & we had players like Norman "bites yer leg" Hunter who were feared by all.

And if anyone took any liberties with Dave Mackay, they soon knew about it, & would be left in a heap, on the floor.

He was not a dirty player as such, just a real man. None of this sneaky ankle tapping stuff, "not me Ref", if Dave tackled you, you stayed tackled.

Dive? He never dived in his life, but a good few dived out of his way when his ire was up.

Sad news, but I was surprised to read he was 80, so I guess he had a full 90 minutes plus some injury time to enjoy.

Anyone know where the back of the net is? We're a bit short of strikers as the most crucial time of the season arrives. Still think I could do a job myself but I'm not allowed to pop down to Brighton tonight sadly. Was sorely tempted to go. I go to the home matches with my brother-in-law and my niece and nephew. They enjoy it but I'm not too sure that Kate really understands what's going on. She believed us when we told her that our star striker was also the front man for the dreadful Coldplay. At the game last week she asked me something that she said she couldn't ask her Dad because he might take the mickey. "If someone ran on the pitch and got the ball and scored, would it count?" ..... Hardly played at all since the UKPC. Just not had any urge to play at all. Just the odd Dym here and there. .... More worryingly, I've only been out for a beer once. Last night I did something I very, very rarely do. I drunk a bit at home. Well, a lot actually. I railed the end of the dtds watching the Outlaws proper dominate like. At the time I felt that I was being mildly amusing in the chatbox. The likelihood however is that I was just a bit annoying :) Our chubby funster won it overall and was pretty unlucky not to win one of them at the very least from what I can recall.

Yes Jac, you were very annoying and a complete embarrassment to the team. I hope Tash has a firm word in your ear.

    Morning Tikay :)

think you're in the wrong team mate
the rest of us know that jac is a very sociable and amusing chappie who could give Paul TPP Jackson a good run for his money

loads of lols for predictive text
    when i wrote
    Paul TPP
my predictive text on my phone suggested
    Jackson for the next word
i wonder if it would have done the same if i had typed NTPP instead

I guess Sky will be sending you a bouquet of flowers or w/e, for Derby's inability to hold onto a 2-0 lead going into the 94th minute.

Cost me, and I imagine thousands more, a few quid on the Skybet special today.

The worst bit of betting runbad I've ever had!

That's a very competative catagory too.

    just wtffffffffffffffffffff how!?!?

B'ham produced a similar miracle on the final day of the season to relegate us last year too, I'm beginning to really dislike them :(

Poker was going bad tonight and then it turned a bit.
Had a deep run in the mini and ended up coming 18th. I haven't played the £55 9pm since I won it a few weeks back :) and tilting a little from losing a fair bit from dyms I decided to buy in to it. Worked out well and managed to finish 2nd. Didn't really play very well but ran good at the right times. All until heads up that is!
    This one smarted a bit

I then lost a standard flip with AJ v 10's to get very low and it finished with us finding QQ and AK and he hit.
Not gonna complain though. Very happy to have a decent winning night in the end.

I really should join The Standing at the Back Dressed Stupidly Looking Stupid Party.

I remember a while ago someone saying how clever Day4eires alias was. I just nodded and didn't realise why. I've now just realised why.

    Sigh

Very well played last night pal.

Railed for a bit but tiredness got the better of me.

Probably the only time my alias clever have appeared in the same sentence.

Not many people will get the homonym but was actually quite proud of it.

Newcastle - You better be good (and cheap)

Just finished for the week and getting set for this weekend. The week started well enough. Booked a golf trip to the Algarve for October at a great price. It started to go downhill after that.

In a couple of nights at the beginning of the week I bombed through £350 at cash and mtts.
Mortgage went out on Tuesday. Mighty Rams weren't that Mighty on Tuesday night
Paid my annual golf club fees on Wednesday.
This morning at work I dropped my shiny new iPhone6 and smashed the screen to pieces. (That tempered glass bolllocks works really well!) £150 to repair that.

I'm not great with money but even I struggle to get through nearly £3k in 4 days normally.
At least tomorrow night if Wolves beat Derby then I'm sure I'll get sympathy from my team mates. Surely just vicious rumours that our new team colours are Old Gold?
    .....
One person I do have to mention is Donttelmum. I've  always really liked and respected James. He occasionally comes in for some unfair stick. That respect went up another notch on Sunday night. I'd been drinking and stupidly loaded up a bunch of cash tables. I was playing like an idiot. After one hand against him I tapped in something like "I guess you won't be surprised to hear i've had a few drinks tonight James" About a minute later he replied with something like "Be careful mate, I'm going to leave it for the night"
Next day a friend said he'd been talking to James on the rail of the roller and he'd said that he'd left all the tables I was on after my comment. Poker is what he does for a living and he could easily have taken plenty off me but chose to stand rather than do that.
    Top bloke
    .....
Looking forward to seeing plenty of forum people over the weekend
