Over the weekend I had a rest away from poker as Friday was a very late night also their was lots of sport on too. My return didn't have the best of starts with my first session getting a loss of -£3.98 ( -£1.47 -£1.88 -£1.89 -28p and £1.58 ). I did take a break for a few hours due to lost connection and it seemed to give things a turn around and i was able to get a much better second cash session and that got me profit of £9.56 (£5.66 £2.84 £1.85 -79p). The cash tables overall got profit of £5.58 I did play 1 DYM (£1.15 hi lo) too and got past the bubble so that won 85p. I was in a few freerolls and had free entry into the DTDs but the good starts turned bad at the end and i am left with 2 hands that i question in the UKOPs freeroll I'm thinking was i too much of a nit folding 99 here Ticker61 Small blind 2000.00 2000.00 84193.12 craigcu12 Big blind 4000.00 6000.00 66960.00 Your hole cards 9 9 PACU All-in 6738.76 12738.76 0.00 mickski Call 6738.76 19477.52 19653.74 breadhead Fold misfit Fold Ticker61 All-in 84193.12 103670.64 0.00 craigcu12 Fold mickski All-in 19653.74 123324.38 0.00 Ticker61 Unmatched bet 59800.62 63523.76 59800.62 Ticker61 Show K A PACU Show 4 A mickski Show 6 6 Flop 10 5 6 Turn K River 9 mickski the one I am wondering from the DTD is if apart from A5 and A7 i would have had many other hands still calling that I'm not expecting to ship pre? As I do read most diaries and you have left my name in (!)...I will comment on that hand for you.....
I have been running super bad the last few nights so have opened up my range to overcome a massive downswing I am on. I will be honest with you that I would normally fold a rag ace in that position, but just felt I would peel one for a change. After that flop, I am going no where TBH. Any other hand like you said, instant fold. You just got UL in this one but the idea was right. So, basically....keep positive and you will get the results as you obv know what you are doing. GL on the tables.
today has been a very good time on poker both MTT and cash with an overall profit of £29.11
their was 2 cash table sessions both of which got a winnings outcome. session one had 5 tables 3 were profit including 1 profit of £12.99 the other 2 were £2.56 and £2.04, their was 2 losses in that session and those were, -£3.04 and -£7.49. The overall outcome of the session was £7.06.
Next I went into the 2:20 deep stack and also did 2 hi lo SnG (£5.50) but they didn't go to plan so didn't get anything their.
The freerolls were not on my side today either and I quickly went out of them but what do I expect when players will call a jam with 108o pre.
I was doing ok in the UKOP freeroll sat before going out that so I went back to cash and it was another great session.
this time I had 4 tables and got winnings on 3 the only loss happen to be on the most suprising of tables yes a one which had HH doh and smit jamming, once they left I did get a good recovery but it was just too much recover when jamming is not common, so that table made a loss of -£5.65. The other 3 tables were much easier and also had the type of villians that were my favourite- maniacs and calling stations so I made 3 profits of £15.16 £7.27 and £0.81 so overall that session got me £17.59.
I also entered the mini today and that was much better and I finished in that one 12th and again it a limped pot that caused the knock out. craigcu12012£13.76 + £9.40 Head Prizes so my day as a whole was this cash £24.65 MTT £15.46 SnG £-11 total£29.11 BR 69.48 finally just want to say this
today I had went that extra step too far with all in sats so did my BR no favours at all. I lost an overall total of £29.30 from MTTs £18 of that was from 3 AI sats and 1 semi. the other losses came from the mini a £2.30 BH at 8:50 and the 10:40 BH
with cash tables I had an up down evening so didn't get much from those overall my losses added up to -£14.13 9 tables making up that total, the winning tables well their were 10 tables overall and the total winnings was £16.77. So I did get a profit from cash tables today. I did do 1 SnG (£1.15) too and got past the bubble so although I won only 85p in that it is better than nothing.
my overall total loss for today then is £26.54 my BR now is 42.94.
tomorrow is going to be a busy day of poker the day time it will be cash tables then in the evening multi tabling in some MTTs as I will have the orford league the UKOPs side event I will still go into the mini too. the only thing that could change that is if I had a disaster in cash.
while the UKOPs events are on I shall put myself on a 5 day cool down as I just don't have the BR for it at the minute and if I even entered a mini and went out through a cooldown limped pot or bad beat I might start loosing my money through bad cash play so this is my last poker this year and I will be away until next Wednesday. so my BR is £56 but I've made too many deposits.
Might be an idea to spin the £50 odd quid into £200 throughout January.
I would 4/5 table 4nl when playing. Think you were playing 8 tables yesterday, it's really difficult to get reads playing so many tables and think you miss out on value in cetain spots.
Play the times freerolls for cash. If you play both games 7:00 and 7:15, i reckon you'll make about £2.50-£3 for every 3/4 games played, it will all soon add up.
If you are going to play MTT's, i would say play a maximum buy in of £2, cause it seems these are what have really drained your bankroll. The 7:45 deepstack is only £1, and i reckon if you played these most nights you would show a profit. £30ish up top. If you don't like slow games tho, best not to play this. The 8:05 BH is quite a nice game aswel and quite fast.
Once you get to £140+, i would through in one mastercash 10nl table, a way back i used to make a lot of money from these 1 tabling, when my bankroll was anywhere from £140-£200.
You are really good at cash, and if i was you i would stick to that in the main time till you've built things back up again.
2013 was a year which I have no one to blame but myself really because it was a very good start in the first 6 months but then I got carried away with MTTs and was playing far too many and what happened is i started to become results orientated with both getting called when i wanted folds and seeing folds at times i wanted call. basically i was going from positive tilt into negative tilt, so i was beginning to waste too much money. one thing i didn't play enough of last year was STT.
this year is going to be about
1.respecting bets, 2.my bet sizes post flop, 3.not being so results orientated 4 handle the varience better. 5.do more hand analysis. 6. playing STT and limiting the amount of MTT i play.
my main aim this year is to move up from nl4 to nl10.
Having looked at some of your history, I would perhaps add #7
7) Be more sensible chasing flush draws. I see a lot of the time you raise with a flush draw, this is fine as a concept, ideally heads up in position where you actually have a decent chance of winning without showdown. But in reality this is 4nl..... in multiway pots you might be better playing it more passive and just calling if you have the correct odds, or decent implied odds. Let us not forget that when you are raising you might actually be pushing out weaker flush draws that will now fold, rather than paying you off if you both get there.
As a final thought, I would advise not moving up until you are constantly crushing 4nl over a bigger sample size.
As a final final thought, stop messing around with game formats. You do a bit of cash, then a bit of MTT, now you are talking about STT. good grief, pick one game, stay at it, learn it and beat it.
Unless of course you just want to play rec and are not fussed about profit, then feel free to disregard all of the above.
my first day of the new year has went quite well, i started off with lots of SnG,10 overall (4 6max and DYMs 1turbo DYM and 1 HU) and they got a winnings total of £2.70.
The HU was a £1.05 hyper and i was unable to win that.
The 6max was not so bad with me finishing 1st in 2 £1+0.10 and the good thing with them is that i don't suffer as much for when i was unable to pass the bubble in two other six max SnGOs £1+0.10 and the £0.50+0.05 so the winnings here was £3.95 (£2.80x2-£1.10 -£0.55)
which was the problem with the DYMs as i did pass the bubble in 2 of the 4 £1+0.15 DYMs and a £0.50+0.10 was not enough to make up for the 2 loss of £1.15. the loss overall was -£0.20 (0.85 X2 £0.40 -1.15 x2).
i did my chances in 2 £3.60 AI sats for the main and they were no good and i paid £0.50 for and add on in 2 of the freerolls so the MTT was -£8.20 After a bit of a rest i went onto cash for the last session and things went very good with a decent profit of £11.90, their was 4 tables and of them 3 had winnings (£0.78 £6.66 £4.64) and the loosing table was -£0.18.
so my BR after my first day since the new year is £63.10 and my aim is to keep building that without making any more deposits.
I had a very long session yesterday and didn't finish until 1am so decided to write it up today.
Although I didn't start until 7pm it was quite a long one once I got going, first I did 2 6max(£1+10p) and the 2 timed MTT and with those I managed to get 63p 88p and I finish 2nd in one of the six max so got 2.10 from that. I did go a step too far and spent £11.40 on 3 AI sats + 1 frenzy, but I wasn't as bad as I was in December when I would have been expected to either enter 1 BH or the semi too, I was tempted but managed to control myself, so overall from them I suffered a loss of -£9.99.
after taking a small break I went onto cash, I was only going to be on it until 12pm and I was doing very well but then came a sudden nightmare when disaster struck my massive size cash in a heads up table and the worst thing about it was this hand was about to be my last one as i had at the time £18+ on that table.
i did try to get it back as the table itself was HU and unlike most villians this one decided to remain and i fealt as long as i keep up with aggression i could lots of small pots as he was too passive, i was almost going to give up as the table began to get more joining and so rather than chase £12 i would just leave with my last £6. then came the unexpected, as the table was 4 handed with 1 tight passive villain i raise A6o OTB then the SB did a min raise so i did the call and the flop came Ac9c2d he bet 38p so i called then i made a mistake of misclicked his M.B/M.RR, then when he jammed on the river i just knew i had to call and to my surprise he had KK meaning i won the hand. So i tried another hour and loaded up more tables and in that time i was able to get back up to £20 on that table.
so overall i was on 12 tables and of those i got 6 profits and 6 losses.
the profits were £0.66, £8.33, £1.66 £1.90 £1.10 (nl4) £13.99 (act). the losses were -£4.20, -£0.04 -£0.26 -4.09 (nl4) -£0.87 (act) -1.09 (ms).
so overall my cash table had £17.09 and the overall total on sunday was £7.10. Although i did get all the cash back that i had lost from the HU, i do question if i should have lost my fully with this hand.
on the flop i do the call thinking if i were to raise he will fold so when he did the large size bet on the turn i do the jam as i now was believing he will have top 2 pair or set for sure. jfmpoker11 Small blind £0.05 £0.05 £4.65 craigcu12 Big blind £0.05 £0.10 £11.39 Your hole cards K Q RandomTsk Fold xRaise £0.20 £0.30 £12.62 spursutd Fold andyzican Call £0.20 £0.50 £0.95 jfmpoker11 Fold craigcu12 Call £0.15 £0.65 £11.24 Flop J 10 A craigcu12 Check xBet £0.49 £1.14 £12.13 andyzican All-in £0.95 £2.09 £0.00 craigcu12 Call £0.95 £3.04 £10.29 xCall £0.46 £3.50 £11.67 Turn 5 craigcu12 Check xBet £2.63 £6.13 £9.04 craigcu12 All-in £10.29 £16.42 £0.00 xFold craigcu12 Unmatched bet £7.66 £8.76 £7.66 craigcu12 Show K Q andyzican Show 10 9 River J craigcu12 Win Straight to the Ace £8.10 £15.76
i asked him after the hand and he did say he would have hit the FH so i just wonder should i have made the raise on the flop and was my bet size on the turn here too big even for 2 pair?
yesterday was a very bad day and I went over the to with all in sats, then on the cash it was a struggle too with very little in terms of winnings.
today was a day of being a feeding station and unlucky with my hands that were ahead. I am probably thankful to have got 2 hands where the villain attempted a bluff otherwise I would have been much worst off.
I did have a go in the main event and got most of the cost returned from 2 PL hi lo SnG winning £10 in both and that one was just an unlucky one where I went out when a straight came on the turn I was made to call as I had the set and it was not the most obvious of straights.
my worst thing today was a hand I had in the mini which I would probably say is all my own fault. the only reason I can think of as to why I call his jam on the river was he has missed the heart flush so might be bluffing a spade one.

what I'm now thinking is should I have actually raised it preflop rather than call. should I have tried a semi bluff myself on the turn rather than check or was the check right and I should have just gave up my hand the minute he bet knowing that the amount of danger cards far out number the amount of good cards.
although i didn't post it Thursday was a bad day for me and with me being so unrelaxed i shouldn't have even joined one table.
today i didn't feel relaxed at the start of my session and did waste more in semi's but then, when i saw it at just £36, I seemed to get relaxed and did the orford league with no problems at all.
having went out of that in 20th place i went onto cash tables and although as a whole i still suffered badly ir i haven't got as bad a loss as i did to start.
overall my loss is -£15.30, but had i not managed to get relaxed i would probably have had a loss of over £40 (26.97 MTT the rest cash).
I thought i was finishing at midnight but at last minute i changed my mind as their appeared to be just too many tables open for me to be expecting regs only so i have justdid another 3 hours and my feeling was right as i got lots of bad callers and very bad hands jamming pre so overall I won £19 in the last 3 hours and my BR has reached £76.94.
to show you what i mean here were some of the hands i got easy money from-
I get a feeling that from about 11pm onwards their is much more risk involved with limper isolation. I was doing it most the night and what has happened is I've had lots of heavy losses or forced folds and the majority of the time it was that I either was getting donked OTF or being jammed by better flush draws rather than the min raise. another thing that has cost me dear is QQ. QQ might have been a premium pair a couple of years ago but now I have dropped it down into a category I would call sub premium as that hand along with JJ are both useless if I get reraised pre. so my BR has dropped down to £27.40.

And Happy New year!
Before I start, I wish you all a happy new year.

4 handle the varience better.
5.do more hand analysis.
6. playing STT and limiting the amount of MTT i play.
my main aim this year is to move up from nl4 to nl10.
Having looked at some of your history, I would perhaps add #7

I see a lot of the time you raise with a flush draw, this is fine as a concept, ideally heads up in position where you actually have a decent chance of winning without showdown.

Why not add in some Omaha or even double tailed whist?
just going to be brief with today.
I basically just did 3 6max (£1.10) the 2 timed freerolls the 7:45pm deepy(£1.10) and 8:05pm £400BH (£2.30)
In the six max i finished 1st in one 2nd in one and failed one, so got £2.70 overall (£3.90 £2.10 -£1.10x3 )
In the deepy i finish 15th and won £1.25(2.35-1.10).
The BH was less fortunate with just my winning just 2 heads so i lost 80p (£1.50-£2.30).
In the freeroll timed MTTs i managed to get to the end in both and won £2.22 in on and £1.50 in the other.
the total overall today is £6.87.
BR is now £69.97 and points this month 48.

i did try to get it back as the table itself was HU and unlike most villians this one decided to remain and i fealt as long as i keep up with aggression i could lots of small pots as he was too passive, i was almost going to give up as the table began to get more joining and so rather than chase £12 i would just leave with my last £6. then came the unexpected, as the table was 4 handed with 1 tight passive villain i raise A6o OTB then the SB did a min raise so i did the call and the flop came Ac9c2d he bet 38p so i called then i made a mistake of misclicked his M.B/M.RR, then when he jammed on the river i just knew i had to call and to my surprise he had KK meaning i won the hand.
Although i did get all the cash back that i had lost from the HU, i do question if i should have lost my fully with this hand.
on the flop i do the call thinking if i were to raise he will fold so when he did the large size bet on the turn i do the jam as i now was believing he will have top 2 pair or set for sure.

yesterday was a very bad day and I went over the to with all in sats, then on the cash it was a struggle too with very little in terms of winnings.
today was a day of being a feeding station and unlucky with my hands that were ahead.
I am probably thankful to have got 2 hands where the villain attempted a bluff otherwise I would have been much worst off.
I did have a go in the main event and got most of the cost returned from 2 PL hi lo SnG winning £10 in both and that one was just an unlucky one where I went out when a straight came on the turn I was made to call as I had the set and it was not the most obvious of straights.
my worst thing today was a hand I had in the mini which I would probably say is all my own fault.
the only reason I can think of as to why I call his jam on the river was he has missed the heart flush so might be bluffing a spade one.
should I have tried a semi bluff myself on the turn rather than check or was the check right and I should have just gave up my hand the minute he bet knowing that the amount of danger cards far out number the amount of good cards.
although i didn't post it Thursday was a bad day for me and with me being so unrelaxed i shouldn't have even joined one table.
today i didn't feel relaxed at the start of my session and did waste more in semi's but then, when i saw it at just £36, I seemed to get relaxed and did the orford league with no problems at all.
having went out of that in 20th place i went onto cash tables and although as a whole i still suffered badly ir i haven't got as bad a loss as i did to start.
overall my loss is -£15.30, but had i not managed to get relaxed i would probably have had a loss of over £40 (26.97 MTT the rest cash).
my BR itself now is £57.27
I thought i was finishing at midnight but at last minute i changed my mind as their appeared to be just too many tables open for me to be expecting regs only so i have justdid another 3 hours and my feeling was right as i got lots of bad callers and very bad hands jamming pre so overall I won £19 in the last 3 hours and my BR has reached £76.94.
to show you what i mean here were some of the hands i got easy money from-
I was doing it most the night and what has happened is I've had lots of heavy losses or forced folds and the majority of the time it was that I either was getting donked OTF or being jammed by better flush draws rather than the min raise.
another thing that has cost me dear is QQ.
QQ might have been a premium pair a couple of years ago but now I have dropped it down into a category I would call sub premium as that hand along with JJ are both useless if I get reraised pre.
so my BR has dropped down to £27.40.
