    Craig,

    1) totally agree about JJ ad QQ being junk vs some players pre now at 4nl.

    2) Do not iso limpers. Iso truly awful players who you have a super massive post flop advantage over in terms of ability.

    3) How do you lose £49 in one sesh at 4nl?

In Response to Re: craigcu12 diary new year new targets:
I get a feeling that from about 11pm onwards their is much more risk involved with limper isolation. I was doing it most the night and what has happened is I've had lots of heavy losses or forced folds and the majority of the time it was that I either was getting donked OTF or being jammed by better flush draws rather than the min raise. another thing that has cost me dear is QQ. QQ might have been a premium pair a couple of years ago but now I have dropped it down into a category I would call sub premium as that hand along with JJ are both useless if I get reraised pre. so my BR has dropped down to £27.40.

    hi Craig,

sorry to see your br drop, it's never nice when it takes a sharpish drop is it.
makes you feel **** and can get you down, I know.
it's just a bad night so try not to feel too bad.
today is another day and try to  be positive and win it back.

I've just returned to nl4 and know just how unpredictable some of the play can be, and even when you think you are making the right moves,( not that I'm saying I am :)  ) doesn't mean you are going to win, certainly not every session anyway.
there is luck involved and when it's not going your way, it's pretty much always going to be just how much you lose not if you lose. (especially when multi-tabling, as I know you are.)
I always go by how I do each month rather than day by day, (although that's not the case right now as I'm trying to build a br from almost nothing,) which might be a good tip for you to use, I don't know

anyway Craig, I know from playing you (and watching you he he) that you are a descent player, so I'm sure your b/roll will soon be climbing back up again very soon mate.

    'be lucky'

today was a real mixture in terms of poker one minute it was ggressive the next minute i could just play passive.
overall I've increased the BR to £30.
their were 13 hands which had a loss of atleast £1 and of those 5 were cooldowns 2 were failed bluffs 5 were bad calls by me and 1 was a unlucky river card.

the worst one i called was this
i should have folded this the minute he bets the turn.

DTD 1 was a very strange one today and I was off to a very bad start then i was shocked with how easy i was able to steal chips when i had only between 5-10BB, it was so easy that i managed to finished that in the top 50 having been the bottom 10 from 88th postion on.

DTD 2 was notthe best of starts but things soon changed when i made a recovery but that didn't last very long and so i went out of that one 131.

so now that i was out of both the others i started to full focus on DTD 3 and things were going very well most the way and i was in with a good chance of making it past the bubble, but unfortunately i finished 21st and the way i went out can't be more tilting than to loose most my stack from an aggressive villain who had nothing followed later by a villain who with a middle pair doesn't seem capable of raising.

my money has all gone and i think the thing that has caused this slope the most is boredom because to be honest i am not only doing bad at poker but also seem to be having a nightmare with my chess at the minute as my chess rating on the site which i play on has dropped massively.

tomorrow is when things should be able to return to normal as i will finally be returning to the volteering after missing 6 weeks, so instead of being bored and just playing this as a way to get out of boredom i will probably come home in a much more relaxing mood the perfect thing for poker.

having made a deposit on Friday of £19.50 things didn't start of well and it wasn't long before I dropped to £13 Saturday was a quiet day with very little play at all.
the sunday I decided to just take one big risk with this amount because i seem to be on a very good run at the minute on 888 poker, so with me having a good run on the other site i could  just make a withdraw from that one and move it into this poker site if needed.

so i tried 2 MTT 1st i did the £750 BH(£2.30) but like most micro MTT their were so many limpers and limp callers that it made blind stealing so much more harder as i needed to be more tight with my range.

so having went out of that one i decided to take one final chance at an MTT with the remaining money and if i went out then i would just take a full month away from this one and focus on 888 poker and so having taken that risk i get the biggest of shocks by finishing in that MTT 3rd place.

     7160001£451.98 + £119.44 Head Prizes5£33.60
    TheDent02£263.13 + £12.66 Head Prizes2

    IJDawson04£127.45 + £6.09 Head Prizes1
    jkeeble05
so i might have been taking big risks before but now i need to get serious and think about what i am doing.
so my overall BR is £245.21

    Very nice, bankroll sorted.

Going to stick to just the lower buy in games?

Might be an idea, till you've built up a bit more.

Well done on a nice cash.

Monday and Tuesday i decided to have a break as i had a late night with Sundays 3K MTT.

now that i won't be getting so stressed over cash losses i decided to try just 1 £750 BH (£5.75) MTT  and unlike the start of January this time i had no other tables running at the time unless it was freerolls.
things got off to a good start and i managed to triple my stack. i was on course for a good finish but then came trouble right before the bubble when my stack got halved with AKs calling a short stack who had A3o and it beat me.

then a few hands later i was faced with a horrible jamming spot with 1010

if someone with JJ has decided to just do a call with the hand.
why would they jam with a hand that is not beating my 1010 i might have called but when i look back at that JJ hand it has so many similarities to JJ.
    A. a short stack he could be trapping pre,
    B. a limper who had a larger stack that him who could cost him his tourney.
    C. also he has better position noe than he did with JJ which is even more of an advantage

being knockout like this can be annoying but i didn't let that have any effect on me as i just know for future MTT that if this player is going to jam then I'm folding because i want wider ranges to jam not just the biggest pair.

Craig just because you ran in to AA doesn't mean you made a bad call.

Never fold TT in this spot with 7 big blinds left, it would be a big mistake. TT is more than enough to get your stack in.

Congratulations on the good result on Sunday.

99% of the time I would be doing my jam all it was with this player is if he is taking so big a risk here why would he not do it with JJ both had a Bounty on offer.

it's sort of like when the short stacks will limp fold even with just 7BB, if you see him deciding to jam their is a good chance of him having Ax or a pair.

still overall it was a profit won from the heads and my skill in MTT's as a whole have improved massively now I just need to avoid going into too many.

I had 1 nl10 cash table to finish my day but it seemed to be a very nitty one and so lost £1.41 but i did only have one table.

the other poker site i use normally is 888 poker and they seem to be filled with donks so while here I'm thinking what they might call me with on the other one i just stick to simple ABC poker.

my experience on Thursday has got me thinking if i have managed to make up the BI then i should just do a direct buy in rather than waste it in sats, if i were to not have made won enough money to do a direct buy in the i will avoid it altogether. Thursday i started my day off with 2 nl10 tables and they got me £30.08 profit so i decided to do sats and time and time again was getting nowhere weather they were all in or semi, so overall i caused a massive drop.

so having missed out on getting into the main i went into the mini and my stack was acting like a yoyo with it having a decent stack one minute then a poor one the next.

so while my BR was still over £200 i went for one last MTT the £3K BH for a BI of £11 and for the second time running i had made it to the final table and this time finished 2nd

tey wasn't much poker in the last week and as my english was a very weak subject i decided to just leave my diary quiet.

my return today wasn't the best of returns and given how poor some of my play was in the MTTs and master cash i think i will be taking another week off.

the transfer window is probably distracting me too much at the minute and if that's not enough i also might have malaware and it can sometime make me wonder if my money is safe.

the day as a whole saw mastercash tables lost -£11.33

after the master cash session i next went in some MTT first i went into the LR semi (7.20) and was able to get into the main event from it but didn't manage to pass the bubble so went out with just 2 head prizes totaling £26.02 and as i was in the main i went into the mini for the jackpot chance but i got nowhere.

so as it wasn't even 9:30 and  i did leave with a profit of £18.82 from the main i used that in the 3K BH and things were going well in that and really i have no one but myself to blame as it was all down to a bad call and not paying attention to his earier hand.

having seen him fold this river my thought right away was he is chasing something

the hand that cost me my life in the main event was not as easy a fold as that and on the turn probably had no choice. but what i was thinking after is weather or not i should be calling such a big size bet on the flop.

tonight my session was dominated with cash alone and as my BR was over £500 before the session i decided to load 4 nl 5p/10p MC tables then added a 5th one an hour later and switch to a differant master cash after that.

the outcome overall was a very good one and managed to get me a total profit of £49.66.

i am beginning to pay more attention to my betting one the turn and river when i my hand stength is over pair at best especially when i am against the passive villians because if they are going to only ever call with hands such as 1 pair or flush/straight draws i might as well give them the odds to call those draws and TP WK because their range is just too wide and also i will not allow them who have monster hands like this one did try catch me out

the diary has been quiet in recent days because i've been staying up very late in the evening and my grammer is very weak so it can take longer than usual when typing how i do on that day.

today didn't get off to the best of starts with a lot me having to reload to my full stack on regular occurances.
once sky TV was showing master cash things started to change to more looser tables and got me more value from hands.
in my first hour and a half i had 11 hands overall which saw losses over £1 and a lot of cooldowns i did have some good hands too but when i'm getting big losses then things will not help the bankroll increase.
unlike the first hour the losses in the second hour were a lot less and overall i have 6 losses over £1 and unlike the first hour in the second hour the highest loss was just £2.80.
    overall the tables were £6.31 £3.68 £5.31 £14.82 £8.09 and -£6.05. so overall today i've won £32.16.
