Good luck, downswings happen to everyone - it's demoralising - so chin up )
I remember when I first started playing nl4 on here and you were a player that always had it. So if you return to that type of game then you will with a bit of run good get going at nl10.
i think your doing the right thing in stopping the cash for a while. i see what arazi said and it makes a lot of sense. sometimes you can push just a little to hard and cause more damage.
on the other hand if your back to the dym scene have a look at the big deal promo that starts tomorrow. get get back 15-18 tabling those dym this weekend and you must be in with a shout of some bonus money.
good luck mate and i'll see you in tonights top of the posts tourney

+1 . Would be the perfect time to start on DYM,s again. If i wasn,t going away for the weekend i,d play them myself on the lower tier
Hey Dev, have kept up to date with this your place on the top of the posts was definetly well deserved. With the amount of tables and hours you play maybe you could aim to take down a decent sized cash from the new promo? which would maybe lead to you being sufficently rolled and able to continue on with cash. Good luck with the dyms

came 3rd in totp won £25 so all helps.
haven't seen the promo as yet m8,i'll have a look now. shouldn't take too long getting back up to £500 with any luck, which is my target, and then i'll give nl10 another go. cheers bud dev ps well played to TINTIN for taking 1st place and also to ARAZI coming 2nd. in totp tournament tonight.
Calcal, in my opinion dev doesn't need to change much at all. As Arazi said, after seeing many hands, Dev just went through a bad downswing. Dev is a really good solid player, and when he is comfortable with his bankroll for this level, will smash it. Posted by LARSON7
I have to be the voice of reality. But what changes are you making to you game prior to the next attempt at 10nl? Posted by calcalfold
i'll give it some thought mate.
I've no exact plans atm and I've always taken my poker one day at a time. i'm happy with what I've learnt so far by playing cash this year. my b/roll has gone down as i'd expected, and it's the right time to stop and have a break and re-build my b'roll. i'll come back in a month or whenever, depending on how much dym's I play, and should feel fresh and ready to try again. i'll almost certainly make mistakes all over again, but hopefully not as many.
the last 4 months have been tough and testing,in all departments for me,and yes I've lost money. but that's only money I've previously won from playing dym's. learning to play cash was never going to be easy for me,and I could very easily stop playing it for good, the way i'm feeling right now. i'm not expecting it to be any easier when I return, and I am fully aware that I may well lose money for the second time of asking, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. changing to cash this year was all about the long term and that's how i'm looking at it. I have already in my mind written this whole year off money wise. if I desperately needed to win, then i'd stick to playing dym's,but this is only a hobby to me.I could just as easily take up painting or playing dominoes.
I wish you all the best, and am only making these comments as its the way I see it, and hope you will turn into a successful player.
I hate to see people make the same mistake twice, and feel that a bit of constructive criticism is often better than the good old "dont worry about it mate, it was just a bad run"
calcalfold, I respect your opinion mate, just as I do everyones. and my results so far would suggest that you are right in that I don't have the ability to beat nl10 atm,and i'm not going to argue with that.
i'm trying though and practise makes perfect. yes I've made plenty of mistakes but i'm sure you know all about 'up-swings' and 'downswings' and I think it's fair to say I've been running bad for the last week or two,and that's being polite I can tell you.
all I can do is come back with a nice roll behind me and give it another try. I don't think that's insane at all.
I completely understand what calcalfold is saying it is good to get constructuve criticism, but if you have been talking to ARAZI and others who are good cash players and they are telling you that you are going about things the right way but variance is just being unkind, then chopping and changing how you play constantly due to bad runs may actually be more detrimental than helpful.

ty no worries mate,
mate, all comments are welcome here and I appreciate people being honest. I am already a successful player playing dym's. if I do make the same mistakes twice, then so be it,i'll only have myself to blame. it's all a learning in progress and you have to make mistakes in order to improve, don't you. I have no idea what the future holds for me poker wise, especially playing cash, but I do know this... i'll never go broke, because of good brm. worst case scenario?i go back to playing dym's...again.

does tin tin tornaments?? Devon mate you seem a really good player from what ive seen f you. Sounds like bad varience to me, with perhaps some fine tweeking. Pokers all about percentages no matter how small, so a few slight adjustments and youll be smaishing it.

I have played precisely zero cash hands this year, and I'm not planning on starting any time soon!
not played today but loading up totp tournament now.
back to DYM's for a while,re-build and re-group.
i'm hoping to return to cash when i'm better rolled for it.

looks as though I've timed it well going back to playing DYM's this month, with the BIGDEAL promotion running all month.
I've signed in to it,so it's back grinding from tomorrow.
not sure exactly how hard to hit it,but i'll put in a few hours. lol
anyway,time for bed I think,and re-charge the battery.
i'm off work tomorrow and Monday so I've no excuses not to play.
night all,
dev
btw WHAT ARE DYMS??
