b/roll £369.62 ( playing cash = down £93.30 this year) (total won this year £38.80) ( playing DYM = up £132.10 this year) c4p 1484
so after y'days play and finding out exactly how NOT to play, after getting my worst hand anaylised over in the poker clinic,(thank you to all who helped me there) I tried to play better today. I raised up 3x p'flop on most occasions. I c bet a lot of the time after raising p/flop which resulted in either taking the pot down there and then some of the time,or building pot on the more often other occasions. my bet sizing varied between 1/2 pot to 3/4 pot on most occasions.
ok,so not the perfect result I was hoping for, losing 25p but i'm happy with my first effort.
my best winning hand of the day got lucky on river but due this one ,I think of course opponent has made run and flush draw to my 999.. call the police...
Good to see you very briefly on the mc table - definetly agree with the analysis of the 99- always want to be cbetting that hand with the were you checking behind for deception?- in that spot we definetly want to be building the pot and charging draws etc
Btw ul with that hand above. Trying to get used to 10nl myself so it's good to see the advice in this thread and someone trying to get to grips with it as well, you are grinding some profit lately though so keep it up, sure you will be at 500 in no time.

with opponent only having £4 stack I ch flop for deception, knowing I still had 2 streets to get his stack. had he had a full stack I would have bet 1/2 to 3/4 pot for sure. I still got money in good on turn so happy with how I played the hand, despite what TK or others might think lol
yes b/roll has gone up mate, but that was due to the recent dym promotion thingy where I made £126 so it's not quite as good as it first appears. i'm still down from playing cash this year,(around £90 odd,)but i'm making some important changes regarding my bet sizing,(or lack of it,maybe lol),atm,so I'm hoping for some improvement over the next week or so,fingers crossed. lol (* *) ^ dev ps morning edit; after seeing all the advice re the 99 (tv hand lol),(over in the poker clinic)my conclusions are that I should have raised the flop (around 1/2 pot). but as played I think I got a little lucky maybe in that he didn't have 2 clubs or hit his flush draw, etc. so I would/will bet the flop next time. lol
lost an allin with trip Q's v AA that hit on turn, but apart from that played quite solid I think.
betting better today 1/2 to 3/4 minimum pot bets all day long tried a couple of semi bluffs earlier which didn't work, both against 2 pairs, which also cost me a bit, but hey,got to throw in the odd one now and again haven't you, just to show 'em you can do it. lol
i'll take a small w today as I know I could have easily lost had I not ground it back. always another day tomorrow,so no need to push the boat out atm.
happy winning £10.22 today.played ok ran rubbish this morning but evened out tonight,i guess. looks as though I've now finally settled on playing just 2 tables, which I am happy about. played 1 for a few sessions but found myself getting bored folding all the time. lol so playing 2 tables seems to be the right amount for the moment. i'm sure at some point i'll be looking to increase to 3 or 4 but it's one small step at a time for the moment. getting closer to the £400 barrier, hopefully get there soon.
not played since Saturday as my poker arm is very sore, due to over playing for so long. so rather than playing through the pain,as I have been, decided to take some time off and hopefully it will gradually fix itself and I will then be able to enjoy playing pain free. so after 4 days away although improved to how it was, still painfull but in less pain. also playing with my opposite hand for the next week or so which should help.
so decided to 'book the win' and take an early finish. not going to play in this weekends 'cash promotion' but good luck to everyone that does.
I have hit some 10nl the past few days, so will venture an answer.
It totally depends when you play. For the most part I find 4nl pretty similar at all times during the day.
10nl is a nit fest to start, loosens up in the evening a bit, and after 11pm is often out and out insane.
Depending on how you play, would should really be picking the time that suits your style. At least for the first few sessions.
I have had to adapt my game at 10nl, not going to go into my adaptions as they might not be relevant to you, but go in open minded and always consider that your 4nl game might not be optimal at 10nl.

Completly agree with this so many nit-regs that fill up the tables- there is always 1 or 2 players to target though- but definetly have to adapt and mix up with these nitty reg to be succesful at these limits and not have to rely on coolering people to make a profit- one thing i would say is they don't like being put in tough spots so have to get out of your comfort zone sometimes and put them in really tricky spots based on board texture how they have played hand etc. Havn't played 4nl just thought i would expand on that point calcalfold made.
Was wondering where you had been lol Glad to hear you are good, arm aside. How do you find 10nl versus 4nl? What's the biggest difference you have found? Posted by LARSON7
hi Larson, ty mate.
tbh I haven't played very much nl4 of late as i'm now rolled quite well I have been concentrating on nl10. but from my limited experience of nl4 I would say not a great deal tbh. you still get a lot of limpers at both levels and have to raise up to thin them out,or take your chances. at nl10 I think players in general fold more to these p/f raises than nl4 where as it costs less obviously,so more players are prepared to gamble more,i think.
play wise as I said there really isn't a great deal of difference.loose players will still call light and tight players fold, which we can use to our advantage. making notes on players helps which i'm sure you do,and the more you have, the better. table selection is another thing I now use playing nl10 as why play against 3 or 4 reg's if by going to another table you can avoid them. again, playing at peak times,ie; evenings means more regs so I now when possible try to avoid starting my sessions then and play at other times, more often than I ever used to,either starting earlier or later.
also,i did find the money difference between the 2 levels does takes some getting used to,ie;the all-in difference between £4 and £10 especially. it's easier said than done but you really can't be playing with 'scared money' which i'm sure yourself,me and most others will also tell you,was a problem for them too,in the beginning. if you think you are good or a call is the correct play, you have to make it and go 'all-in' if needed, if you can't then you are not properly rolled for it,and should come back with a bigger b/roll in the future. (I have as i'm sure you know, played a little mastercash but am keeping away from them for the moment anyway,as again a £20 all-in is a big jump up from a £10 all-in,isn't it.)
I also don't see anything wrong with 'booking the win' either, which goes against most normal thinking. (I would rather see my b/roll go up by £4-£5 after playing for 15-20 mins or so, than going backwards after a 3-4 hour losing session.) in my opinion the longer the session you play the more chance there is of you losing,as variance tiredness and other factors will come into play. which goes completely against how I have always thought up until now.strange. also, how many tables do we play? should we play more or less at nl10? from my experience here,LESS for sure. playing 1 table was ok to start but I now play 2 which keeps me interested. could play more but not as optimally as 2,so in no hurry to play more, atm. also,go with your 'gut feeling' when playing...rightly or wrongly. lol
hope some of this might be of some use mate. trial and error is also up there to i'm sure. gl dev
