Hi,
SPT Manchester is this weekend, & this is the thread for news, gossip & general waffle from the venue, which is the rather lovely 235 Casino in Manchester.
Friday & Saturday are both "Day 1's" which to non-poker people must seem rather confusing, and Day 2 is Sunday, when the survivors from Friday & Saturday come together & play down to a winner.
So if you are in Manchester playing the event, or at home railing, use this thread for your comments, questions, & if necessary, gentle abuse. Easy on the abuse though, ok?
Here's the building which houses our venue, if that's not the best looking Casino in the UK I don't know what is. Magnifique.

All being well, there will be a full Live Update on Sunday, with every hand & bustout from the Final. Friday & Saturday will be less intense, but hopefully enough to keep everyone at least mildly interested.
This event last year was won by a chap named Barry Grimes. Proper nit is Barry, only plays Premium hands, though his idea of "Premium" differs from most.
Here's Barry looking rather pleased with life, as well he may.
If you plan to play it, here's the itinerary;
Friday
Cards in the air at 4pm, later reg closes at around 10pm, (end of Level 8) & play concludes at approx 1am.Saturday
Play starts earlier on Saturday, 2pm, late reg ends at 8pm, with play concluding at around 11pm.Sunday
1pm start. Hard to estimate the finishing time, but usually just after midnight, maybe a little earlier.25,000 starting chips, 40 minute clock all the way.
The full structure can be seen here;

Please note the event will have a Big Blind Ante, which comes into effect at the start of Level 5, so it will be 200-400/400.
It certainly speeds play up, & that BB ante really starts to pinch once the Blinds get meaty.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We can't guarantee the answers will be correct, but they'll be better than Alexa.
The 2018 renewal was won by a chap who went by the nick of "Bad Jumper". You have to guess which one it is.
How about this for the sort of stuff Bad Jumper was turning up with? He did this for 2 days & showed down all sorts of weird stuff. He was 3-5 man, obv.
First up, Ambo, aka Neil Channing.
Then there's Sam, who - in theory, at least - runs Sky Poker. He's the one in the red tie, probably the only time he's ever been seen in a tie. He was a lot younger then, clearly.
And finally, James. I'm not entirely sure what James does, but I'm sure he does it jolly well.
I think the Answer is in the Picture........
.......... Drink on the Sidelines after an Early Exit !
GOOD LUCK at the tables Boys, and to everyone who I know, looks like I'm missing this one
I genuinely hope you win a seat but on I must insist on one condition:
If you win a seat, make a conference call with me and Will @HANSON and put it on speakerphone when you tell Daveena you are going to Manc after all!
Why not ask miniman88, he might know?
I believe Palace has started his journey to Manchester tonight....
