If you like word games or remember playing the game Mastermind in the 1970's then this is for you,it's like Mastermind but with words instead of coloured pegs.

The person who invented it has now sold the rights to The New York Times for a 7 figure sum.

I've been playing it for the past 6 days and so far I'm on a 100% winning streak it is quite addictive.

A couple of examples of my games to explain how it works.

You can play the game on the following link.

https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html

Wordle Explained: Everything You Need to Know About the Viral Word Game.

Wordle is a daily word game it's fun, simple and like a crossword can only be played once a day. Every 24 hours there's a new word of the day, and it's up to you to figure out what it is.

Wordle gives players six chances to guess a randomly selected five-letter word. If you have the right letter in the right spot it shows up green, a correct letter in the wrong spot shows up yellow, a letter that isn't in the word in any spot shows up grey.

You can enter a total of six words meaning you can enter five burner words from which you can learn hints about the letters and their placements. Then you get one chance to put those hints to use and guess the word.

Simple stuff but also incredibly compelling.

So it's just a word game? Big deal...

Yeah, it's just a word game. But it's super popular: Over 300,000 people play it daily according to The New York Times. That popularity may sound perplexing but there are a few tiny details that have resulted in everyone going absolutely bonkers for it.

There's only one puzzle per day,you only get one shot at the Wordle. If you mess up you have to wait until tomorrow to get a brand new puzzle, everyone is playing the exact same puzzle.

If you want a further fix, then the TV programme "Lingo" is nearly identical.

Oh no that's all I need another blooming puzzle app for the missus to get hooked on.

Like she doesn't already batter my kipper with sodoku, codebreakers, quizword, etc.

No wonder my poker's bad. Wondering whether my 2 pair has equity is nothing when she needs to know if number 8 is an E or a T.

    Love WORDLE.

It's something anyone can play - and it's free.

Pretty frustrating to use up 4 guesses & then find you have one blank left & 5 different words fit.

It took me a while to guess the word but I definitely knew it was a word as I've been using caulk for years. I couldn't believe people were claiming it's not a word, I suppose that's just a sign of the times we now live in, if it's not mentioned on Love Island, X-Factor etc then the Social Media generation are oblivious to things.

It's even more frustrating when this happens and there was still one other option but luckily I chose the correct one on today's word.

@MAXALLY I wasn't sure whether to post it but I assumed those that play it would've already played today's word. I reckon rbh would post his results once photo shop has done it's business.

I also didn't realise about using a letter more than once until a few games in when I was stuck and had to ask Google if letters were repeated.
