@Spike4000 why the username? Just wondered how long have you been playing poker, do you play live,
How many games do you play at once.

Secondly. Can you rank the items below 1-7 for your reasoning behind this thread, maybe add in other reasons.

    To make money
    To lose less
    Motivation
    Become a better player
    Play more
    Play less
Get more enjoyment from the game.

I was going to rank why I post my challengers but only got to

    1. Motivation.
    2. Get more enjoyment from the game.

It gets tough for me from that point I guess.

    3. Play less

The rest would rank equally for me I think.

Well done on turning things around. Some quick tips:

    1. Never play all in sats unless they have zero or positive expectation. For example, a £3.30 satellite into the £110 Sunday Major with 30 runners has positive expectation. 35 runners does not.
    2. Open min raise as standard above 15bb. Open jam otherwise.
    3. Be much looser than you think with open jamming. Be tighter than you think with calling. Jonathan Little has some free push/fold charts to help you here.
    4. Watch some good players stream like BenCB, Allinpav and Matt Staples. Be active with your watching and think about what you would do.
    5. One and done on the flop is still an effective strat at low stakes mtts.
    5. Be patient when deeper and let weaker players give their chips to you. Most of your EV comes from making big hands and getting paid.

yep, thanks for that. i dont want to sound ungrateful but I am already doing alot of those things, thanks for the feedback though!

Something else it's important to bear in mind.

Just because we LOSE a hand does not mean we played it badly.

And the opposite applies too, winning a hand does not necessarily mean we played it well.

In the hand with GREGSTER I believe (based on the limited info we have) you called correctly. The result, though, is irrelative.

i was just checking its correct, in my head its a call but maybe icm is a factor? always best to check

The posted hand above is a call every time. Though you may not like doing it. Have to take into consideration both the stack sizes of the other 2 players, from what I can gather there are still 20k chips unaccounted for.
Not going to get much better chance. Gregster yet is pushing any 2 here.

The other 20K was split roughly with 16K for Gp and 4K for Raggy. As @Tikay10 pointed out I'm going to be shoving very wide on the bubble into the short stacks to my left with my stack size vs theirs, which will be any 2 cards and still shoving even if only dealt 1 card!

Spike could fold if wants to try and hang on and see if Raggy blinds down/gets KOd quicker than him, but I think the call is the best option.

Probably better off looking at some of the hands dealt to see if they should have been open shoves prior to you getting down to about 5-6 BBs or if just went card dead or wasn't first to act. Just picking up the blinds in those turbos is very valuable as the blinds are effectively doubling every 10 minutes.

That’s a long session, a few years ago I read a book about human performance, I forget the name of it, one bit I remember though, was that humans mental performance dips considerably after 8hours, I think that’s why the average work day is 8 hours……have you considered reducing the hours you play? Maybe track it over a couple of weeks, dropping those last three games woulda seen you in profit for the session :)

You're welcome to the tips. If you are doing those things, I suspect you might be stacking off too lightly in passive games when deep. It would be good to see those hand histories in full from the KK and TT hands.

its importnat that you dont dwell on negative thinking, statements like "down 85.50" are very negative, its tough to rid the mind of gloomy things and stuck in such thinking alway seems to pull you down futher........

so if you started with 100£ and are now sitting on 14.50, thats 6 x 2.20 buyins, cash in a couple or win one and you have more buy ins, all is not lost........too many people get hung up on the cash figure, its a game of swings and roundabouts imo, riding the luck is part of the fun........and if the worst happens with no cashes, you still have a £1.30, just look @coo1-um thread busto again, he is up to 25£........

    @Spike4000

Painful day for sure. It's part & parcel of playing MTT's though, and it happens to the best players.

We have no idea if that loss was down to bad luck, bad play, or just variance up to it's usual mischief.

As a thought, have you ever considered playing DYM's full-time instead of MTT's? You'd win less, or lose less, but you still get the poker buzz & all the table time you want.

And the key thing is that variance in DYM's is MUCH lower, as 6 enter, & 3 get paid. Nobody makes a fortune playing DYM's but you can really rack up Rewards points quickly so there's a nice bonus every Monday.

The basics are the same, but you need to learn how to play the sharp end in them, that's the key skill I'd say. Avoid the Turbos - they have tougher fields & higher variance, they are quite specialised really, but in regular speed DYM's you can tick a lot of boxes - always plenty of games going, & can be fun once you master the basics. Most of all though, lower variance.

Some players are a bit snobby about DYM-ers - "it's boring" sorta thing, but each to their own, & it's not often understood that DYM volume here is equal in size to MTT volume, depending how it's measured.

For an outlay of, say, £100, you can play a whole lot of DYM's if you are sensible about the stake sizes. (Would suggest sticking to £1.10, £2.20 or £3.30 for now).

Good luck if you decide to give them a bash. Pretty sure that if you spent £100 playing £1/£2/£3 DYM's you'd need to be really bad to lose ~£70 in a day.
