"With an average stake of £4.87 my low point at minus £224 saw me down 46 average buy-ins... ouch. I made several comebacks which were all too short lived but something clicked on Tuesday 30th (around game 850) and I ended the month feeling very positive - only down £19.60 after that rough start feels like winning in my book"

When we emerge from a period in the doldrums, it feels great, doesn't it? Well done.

    What a difference this makes, too;

    Pentagon +£65
    Points 4930 (+£97.60)

£160+ makes all the difference at our stakes.

Well done, & good luck with the February targets.

Thanks for the link to info on SPT Manchester @Tikay10 :)

Points and the Pentagon promo saved me this month, actually over half my profit has come from those two sources!

Oh and forgot to say it's my first time ever in Priority, will I receive any notification that I'm "in"?

Also looking forward to that rakeback - £150 or more I think, that'll do nicely!

Yes, I believe you should get notification by e-Mail (assuming you are opted in to receive Comms) tomorrow.

    Well done.

I think you will receive the rakeback today, too.

Thanks for the comment Tim! I've still a lot to learn especially when I up the volume (8+ tables) which means there is work to be done on my general strategy when I can't pay too much attention to villain tendencies/table dynamics.

See you at the tables :)

No giraffes today but still poker related

I finally won a SPT Semi final for a seat into 1b!

Hotel booked.. I definitely should have done this earlier because I'm paying £110 for Fri + Saturday night at the Novotel West Manchester which is 20 mins drive away from Manchester235 but I can't wait to play in my first SPT :)

    Live poker update 1..

    SPT Manchester

This was my first live MTT in over 2.5 years (last one was a £40 freezeout @ Broadway Birmingham ha) but went into it with the dream of a big score. I think I played well and also ran decent in the first 6 levels of day 1a, going from starting stack to 75k by the end of late reg, but then it went all pear shaped. Day 1b I had the pleasure of running KK into AA at bb300 so nothing more to be said there!

The whole weekend was so much fun despite not making day 2. Meeting everyone was great and was glad to see @AKAscotty make the FT after we shared a table for a few hours on day 1b! I'll definitely be back for another SPT this year, most likely Nottingham & Brighton.

Also met the legend @Tikay10 . I can't speak highly enough of the man, Sky is lucky to have you!

    On to live cash..

My local game is the £1/£1 at Grosvenor Bournemouth which happens to also be home to resident @SR23 - although we've yet to meet. I drove home Sunday morning and got the itch to play some live poker so out I went. This was my 3rd session in the past week but before then, I've not played in this casino for over 3 years - so I'm relatively unknown to the new regs I've seen around..

My biggest hand of the night (and possibly ever at £1/1) follows.

The game is very aggressive with myself and Villain isolating the loose passive/recreational players and we're 6 handed, with £750 effective stacks (I cover). I believe he plays relatively tight but has a few tricks up his sleeve and we certainly respect each others game.

    hopefully the hand converter works!

Villain Straddle to £2, but I had to show it as a raise in the hand converter

^ This is certainly a live read situation and I tanked for a good 5 minutes making this decision. My queens block a chunk of his bluffs, but I'm getting laid a very good price and while my hand is somewhat face up (super thin value with an overpair), he is repping very narrow as he usually raises his stronger value hands on earlier streets. Thoughts?

    ^^^^

Love the little glimpse of the Grosvenor Membership Card in the bottom left hand corner.

Bet you almost sleep with that card now. ;)
