What sort of thing are you planning? Same as before? Some picks, some qualifiers, all go and play a decent UK tourney? That seemed to work well and brought the community back together again which I think has been lacking a bit recently.

Don't think there needs much if any changes made IMO. I like the idea of different players each time though, that's a nice touch.

Thanks Flash, it's all up for debate.

We thought the recent team worked well as you said but still good to hear views.

We do intend to mix the team up to get some new faces.

Thewy might stay in if he's nice to Tikay ;)

    Thanks

I agree with flash just the same as last time with with some players selected and then others also have chance by qualifying through the tsp sats

I think I'm a little to close to the thing to say if it worked well or not (for the record I'd answer in the positive).

Sending a crew to play in a live tournament seems the right way to go and logistically for the updates it really helps if it is a DTD tournie or DTD Branded, mainly for Tighty.  The GUKPTs are sort of on the decline and you might have problems updating etc there although I am willing to be corrected on any of these points.  The Gentings are getting going so might be worth a consideration but the above logistical problems apply and maybe other problems I can't see.  I think live updates to the level we had at DTD are vital for the community feel to the whole thing.  Personally I think the monthly deepstacks at DTD are a good place to run it.  You do have the ISPT coming up but with the length of time between the day 1s and day 2s this may not be workable.

Picks and qualifiers, I think you probably need both but if you drop one of them it should be the picks.  Everyone should have a shot at it and sooner or later we'll get someone who satted in for a few quid hitting a lovely score, then you've got your story.  I'd probably announce the picks differently but again I'm unaware of the process of how the picks are made.  FWIW I'd announce them on one of the weekly live shows, either with the qualifier winner on a Sunday or weekly on another night if you think doing two together dilutes the news for either member.

Either way, keep it as connected to the community as the last one and give everyone the opportunity to get involved then it can't go far wrong.

    That'll be a first.

I really thought it had the base from which to grow something unique, & special, & I hope it continues. I don't know any other site which does anything like it.

My thoughts? It depends on how you want to cut the "spend cake".

Personally, rather than, say, one big outing per year, or whatever, I think 3 or 4 smaller ones would maybe work better, if only because it spreads the opportunities to be part of it amongst a lot more players.

If the Live Events were, say, £250, we could do four for the same money as was spent on the £1,100-er, at £300-ish, three for the same money, that sort of thing.  So instead of 11 Players getting a shot at it, there would be 33 or 44 slots up for grabs, & we could do it once per quarter. Has to be better imo.

Should those who have had a shot get another go?

I think a maximum of x should, say 2 or 3. Thewy is our Site Pro, so to my mind, he is the Captain, & should be there. After all, he's been winning Tourneys forever, & he sets a great example in table behaviour. Maybe we could/should include the player who did best last time, as a sort of incentive.

Open mind really, but more outings at smaller Tourneys would be my main thought - it spreads the chances around so many more players.

As always, Tommy covers everything perfectly.

    +1

EDIT: I do think more frequent, smaller BI outtings are the way forward. More people get a chance to be involved and it gives Sky a bit more 'bang for the buck'.

All fair comment, most especially the enboldened part, which was my responsibility, & with hindsight, I could/should have done it better.

I would definitely do it different next time, without a shadow of doubt.

I should be Manager again too, for sure, as I had a letter from the Board, saying they had every confidence in me. What could possibly go wrong?

Totally agree Thewy should stay in the team. Like Tikay said, he is the sponsored pro and a great 'face' for Skypoker.

Could be a great opportunity to get Charlotte in the picture as well, the more people that see her in Skypoker merchandise can only be good for the site.

    Great post by tommy!

I do think it would be a good idea to include at LEAST one lower stakes player to get picked for TSP.

I would prefer NOT to cast anything in stone, it makes everything so awkward, but you can be assured there would always be "low-staked" (however you choose to define that) players included.

Well if I had my way there would, & I should, as I got that letter from the board, signed by Mr Venky as I recall.

How about announcing a 'squad' of players (22/23 ish) who are then whittled down to the final playing 11?
This can be done in various ways such as MTT results/special series of SnG's/live play off the night before the event etc.

It is imperative, however, that everyone has a chance at either qualifying or being picked....whatever their bankroll.

I will also suggest to have guest updaters too. This will assist Tighty/Tikay and hopefully involve the community a little bit more.

....last one from me for now......SACK THE MANAGER!

edit: mayb 90% qualifers and keep in 2 or 3 main stay sky pros for guidance, support and leadership in the team for the away days

Major benefit to SKY is the chance for anyone to qualify and be a part of it and maybe one person binks and you have a marketing piece of gold - kinda moneymaker but on a smaller scale

Yes to the more event's and smaller, slicing the cake a little thinner to please more people is never a bad thing

TSP is a subject thats really close to my heart.  I can actually say that it has changed my life in so many ways and I doubt that I would playing poker for a living without it.  So I'm really glad that this excellent inititive is going to be kept running so that maybe someone else could benefit from it like I have!

    Anyway....

The tournies.  I feel that any future TSP outings should focus around DTD for so many reasons.  The main being is  for ease of updating, as they gave Tikay and the camera crew room to work and also a place for the crew to meet up during breaks.  Not many casinos in the UK would be so accomodating.  Secondly the standard tournament is a £300 £150kGTD that should make a return after Vegas.  Thats a great struture tournie that still generates HUGE prizepools. DTD deepstack weekends also have great side events running, something that other tours can't really claim. It's also fairly centrally located and easy transport links.

I don't know when the next Monte Carlo is going to be scheduled tho but that should be a lock for a TSP outing tho.

The team.  As always a great mix.  I think that Sky have a fantastic opportunity to add a new dimension to the team and add in a couple of well known faces from the sporting world who play poker to a good standard.  For example I hear that the G in Sheffield is crammed with Snooker pros ATM who all love their poker.

The selection process.  Personally I feel that the very first inclincation of TSP had the right idea, as it gave the opportunity of a SnG/MTT/Cash players of each finding their way onto the team.  I would propose a return to a league system for some places, and also include the same kind of weekly TSP MTT for some places too.  That way you can reward both loyal players who play day in day out and also give the recreational player who maybe only places once a week a shot too in a standard MTT.  I also feel that 11 players is about right, and that any more is overkill and devalues the promotion somewhat.

I really like Tikays idea of having a 'last longer' competition in the team too, with the person who does best automatically retaining their TSP seat and also maybe some added value in terms of SPT/UKOPS etc seats too.  Would bring a new dimension to the updating when there are 2 TSP guys still grinding the tournie and are effectively 'heads up' for some extra prizes.
