Nice one Tikay and no problem have enjoyed our chats :)

I am not sure what the games were like before but they seem very 'reg heavy' lately so to turn it round in that context is even more promising still.

I have mentioned Sky poker to long time friend I have played OH8 with for around 10 years who may join the oh8 tables which may help more games kick off if he gets into them. I doubt it will have a positive effect on any of our ROI's though he is an extremely accomplished OH8 player. Arez_One or similar screennames he usually goes by.

Hope May is good to you!

Bring him across if you can, the more the merrier, & liquidity breeds liquidity, so it has to be good for our games.

Quick reminder, as many of the PLO8 crew occasionally visit this Diary, that it's "Happy Days" for 48 hours starting at noon today, (Double Points on all SNG's & DYM's) so that should generate more action tonight & tomorrow.

In a bad piece of timing, I'm working tonight, so I'll miss the party, but at least I'll be able to snaffle a few extra points on Wednesday evening.

And in another aside, tonight's guest on the Sky Poker TV Show is ex Leicester player & captain Matt Elliott.

Given that Leicester won the title last night, it should be a fun & celebratory show.

Ryan Spittles, fresh from winning the Reading GUKPT, will be the "Poker Pro" tonight, so that's good, too.

The Presenter will be Richard Orford. Into each life, a little rain must fall.

I won't be able to take full advantage of the happy days promo either, sadly it is time to bite the bullet and get the last of my uni work out the way.

I will mention again to Arez aka Pat about the games, not sure if he has given them a try yet. I will probably make a post on my FB and see if I can get a few across, the only problem is that the players on my FB are spread across the globe so only a few will be eligible to play on Sky. It's a pity as there are a lot of PLO8 players on my FB...

Hope the show goes well! I will watch it when it gets uploaded to Sky's Youtube account. Have been watching quite a few of them, watched the grudge match with Ian Simpson last night. He came across very well.

    Cya at the tables soon!

Nice to see the results back on track Tikay. PS Have you ever been to the Geneva of England? I posted a link in the Rail, even has a picture of a steam train in it. https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?action=show_static&page=poker_community_forums&plckForumPage=ForumDiscussion&plckDiscussionId=Cat%3ae0fe4c56-4826-4c14-a350-298f784f4e3dForum%3a7d0c2552-361c-4eda-9a31-b0c8d6bb2fceDiscussion%3a1880b7ee-8105-4307-a15a-43d55049ea08

Well they WERE back on track......

£90 of profit in 3 nights,. & a 60% games win week was snap followed by Monday, when I dropped a whopping £47.50, & won just 12 of 30.......

Today, I will mainly be re-visiting my drawing board.

    "The Geneva of England"........

As it happens, Gill & I visited Geneva quite recently, & it was simply beautiful beyond words.  Gill happens to live in Stoke, too.

My main life memories of Stoke - Gill apart - was when I was working, going back to maybe 1980, or 1990, when they were building that wonderful A50 road which bisects the town now. I had to drive through Stoke almost daily, & it used to take 2 hours just to get through the town. Ugh.

I did notice you were running pretty bad in all ins. The loses must have been unevenly weighted to the bigger bins though as -$47.50 seems a bit harsh for 12/30. Hope tonight is better for you Tikay! (although preferably not at my expense lol).

It was universally bad, at all levels. Usually, on a bad night, as least one buy-in level helps save the day, but on Monday, not so. The loss was (roughly) comprised of £30 from the games, & £15 in reg fees.

    £3.30 - P 15, W 6, L9

    £5.50, P10, W4, L6

    £11, P5, W2, L3

Just one of those nights, I think. I was due a bad night, I guess.

Short term variance. Daily results mean nothing. Maybe it was down to atmospheric conditions?

I remember the Geneva trip and the much hyped visit to the Hadron collider, which didn't happen, because you didn't prebook.

A50 - fast way out of Stoke, good use of taxpayers money that then. Apart from the fact that it takes you to Derby.

Atmospheric conditions, very good, very good indeed.

Am surprised you remember my Geneva trip, but yup, you nailed it, I had hoped to go visit CERN, but it never happened. Instead, we explored the Swiss railway system, & very good it was, too, we even went up to the top of a snow covered mountain in a Mountain Railway thing which was all jolly exciting.

Talking of short term variance, after Monday's debacle (won 12, L 18, 40% games won, £47.50 lost) I did rather better last night, winning 20 from 30 (67%), & winning back £23, which was half of Monday's losses. Felt good.

Traffic was patchy again last night, what with CL football, & the fine weather. Weather wise, we have to expect a drop in traffic now, nothing to be done about it. Even so, I managed my scheduled 30 games last night, so no complaints.

We were joined last night by a player who we don't see too often in the PLO8 DYM's. Before I go further, I don't ever diss players here, & I don't give away their "game", that'd be unfair.

Anyway, his name was "Trample", & I have him colour coded to oh-so rare "Purple", which denotes he wins over £1 a game on a significant sample size, in his case, around 6,000 games. His Sharky has about 10 different stars, included a gold one, so we know he's handy enough.

With traffic light, & rarely more than 3 or 4 games on the go, I was able to take a close look at how he does it. (He played 4 games @ £11 & won 3 of them).

He plays 95% of his volume at NLH, so that was the first clue. It's quite rare for good NLH players to also be good at PLO8, & when they are, it tells us straight away what their strength is - aggression.

So I was able to suss what he was doing, & found how to combat it, or to a degree. Not saying I can beat him consistently, but at least I now know what his game style is. Hopefully, he'll join us more regularly.

I also got slow-rolled with the abso nuts twice last night, by 2 different guys. I never said anything, never do, but what strange people these must be, to so delight in doing that kind of stuff.

It was 2xPoints last night, too, so I was able to rack up 264 points, which is a lot for a midweek night by my standards. That takes me to 409 for the week. I'd like to get 1,000 points by c-o-b Sunday, but given the traffic & weather, that's highly unlikely, hard to get 150 points tonight & tomorrow, though might get a few more on Saturday & Sunday if the weather turns for the worse. Most likely end  up with around 800, which is £8, so not so bad I suppose.

    All good.

Bit of a left field one here, but this amused me.

On another Forum yesterday, we were discussing how the bookies had taken a bit of a bashing (or not) on Leicester winning the EPL @ 5,000/1.

Everyone had an opinion, but here's the thing - nobody knew, they were all amateurs, just punters, whistling in the dark. The complexities of a high volume Online bookmaker are immense. These businesses are run by very bright guys, believe me, it's real Level 6 stuff, & here were all these punters thinking they knew better than the bookies as to whether the bookies had taken a pasting. It's kinda like poker players who think they know how to run a poker site. To be blunt, they don't.

Anyway, a link was given to a Blog by an insider, a Bookies rep (not Sky Bet), Nick Goff. And he wrote this absolutely golden piece.....

“there has never been a sporting event that has produced so many experts in bookmakers’ liabilities.”

It amused me because, well, that's sometimes how I feel here, on the poker side, & we had a bit of that yesterday.

It's all well-intended, of course, but I do have to bite my tongue sometimes.

    Carry on, as you were.

It could never be you Cheezy, & I'd never suspect you would, you are not that sort of guy. It takes a certain sort of mean-ness to slowroll folks. Most of the PLO8 regulars could name the serial slow-rollers, & I don't need or intend to.

The atmo was good last night, yeah.

How many times did you bust me last night? 3, was it? Twice I walked into your Aces, & on another occasion you had me dominated at both ends & you held. Bang out of order, that. I was not paying close attention, but it looked to me that you had a tidy winning night.

Good to see you have sussed the "balanced hand" thing, which, when you began, was your big weakness. Another opponent to worry about......

Talking of which, Markycash had a clean sweep last night in the PLO8 DYM's - 7 from 7. Only about 3 were against me, when I kept walking into his Aces. I really must stop doing that.

On a more important note, did you know that the world's largest duck, weighed Seven stones and had a wingspan of Fourteen feet? Proper amazing that.
We're back for six days during the end of July, so I hope to fit a good few games in here and there. By then I imagine TK will have done his dosh in Vegas?
    Hope everyone is well.
    Good luck all (-1 obviously)
