A visit to the dark side (cont'd)

A short 5 game session this morning, just 5 games, but we went NAP & won all 5.

I did have a spectacular piece of luck though.

Having won 4 from 4, I was quite keen to get the NAP. We were 4 handed, & it was nip & tuck. From the SB (4 handed, 300-600) I jammed with 7-7, only to get looked up by 8-8. Oooh, just a pip behind.

When the door card came an 8, I was as near as drawing dead, but a spectacular perfect perfect 3-9-5-6 run-out got me home. Proper bit of run good, that.

The only negative is that I have built up a run-good overdraft, & soon enough, I'm gonna have to pay that bill.

    Session 1 - P5, W4

    Session 2 - P4, W3

    Session 3 - P10, W8

    Session 4 - P15, W 10

    Session 5 - P15, W8

    Session 6 - P15, W10

    Session 7 - P5, W5

    So that's P69, W48, = 70%.

    Profit so far is £49.

Thanks for not playing the PLO8 DYMs for a few days Tikay. Lack of traffic resulted in me having to play a couple of Holdem MTTs and actually making a profit for a change.

Will be back to losing ways soon though, no doubt.

    Hey Karen,

Sorry to hear that, dont be scared to ask the doctors stuff, talking to people helps bundles (sometimes takes a while to sink in). You probably dont want to go into all the details, however if you do want a natter with a veteran feel free to PM me.

A visit to the dark side (cont'd)

It was all going too well. As I mentioned in my last Dark Side Update, I had accumulated a run-good overdraft which needed paying off, & I've certainly paid a bit off the last few sessions.

I have been making some bad plays & repeated mistakes, too. After years of Pot Limit, it's too easy to overshove with, say, 10-10 & get picked of by Big Aces. So, some run bad, & plenty of play bad. Need to do better.

    Really enjoying the challenge, though.

Now, feast your eyes on my recent NLH results. That'll teach me to think the transition is easy.

    Session 1 - P5, W4

    Session 2 - P4, W3

    Session 3 - P10, W8

    Session 4 - P15, W 10

    Session 5 - P15, W8

    Session 6 - P15, W10

    Session 7 - P5, W5

    Session 8 - P25, W13

    Session 9 - P10, W2

    Session 10 - P15, W10

    Session 11 - P10, W4

    So that's P129, W77, = 60%.

    Profit so far is £12.

    Year End Report

The headline number is I made an Online profit of £1,193.86 in 2016, which sounds good at first sight.

Closer investigations suggests it is not good at all really, considering how many games I played & time I spent playing, in fact it's embarrassingly low.

In all, I played some 8,300 games, so the profit per game - & that includes Rewards Payments - was just £0.14.

    Why so low?

The problem was that between Jan 1st & late April I went on a £500 downswing. In fact it was not a downswing at all, I just thought it was at the time. Then I realised this was not possible, & it must be bad play. With some help from markycash, I re-invented my game completely, since when I've been on the up slope almost non-stop, & made £700, plus Rewards payments, since the re-invention.

So I aim to do much better in 2017.

Still love the game to bits of course, & it helps me test my mental faculties & dexterity.

6 tabling against some really good (& some woefully bad) play is something I struggle with at times - focus, concentration, speed of thought & action - but I just about get by.
