In Response to Re: Build A Bankroll 2014 : Good post, chicknMelt. Yeah, it's finding the right balance isn't it?  So, what d'ya reckon...? £100-  2 x 5p/10p tables-  move up when/if(!) I hit £200, £300, or £400? Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
    Posted by RicOrford
if it was me, I'd probably stay at 10 buy ins for the second level...after all its not the end of the world if you lose it all and have to reload at that point. IMO, the number of buy ins should reflect the amount of pain you would be in if you lost your whole balance...

10 buy ins - meh. Chips please!
20 buy ins - oh well...dont tell the missus tho
    30 buy ins - bug.g.er
    40 buy ins - f..uc..k and bugg3r
    50 buy ins - fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!
60+ buy ins - Cry yourself to sleep

so If i was going to build a BR in this way, I'd do..

Balance -- Level -- buy ins
    £0-£200 -- NL10 -- 0+
    £200-£600 -- NL20 --10+
    £600-£1500 -- NL30 -- 20+
    £1500-£5000 -- NL50 -- 30+
    £5000+ NL100 -- 50+

might be a bit aggressive for some though

Good luck. I think staying at 5/10 is fine but wait until about £300+ before moving up.

I assume you'll be playing the Mastercash tables?

Not necessarily, Geldy. There's no plans to show my hands unless my night of playing coincides with a live show. In which case, I'll be on the Mastercash tables and also Skyping into the show.

Interesting. Looks like you'll be playing MTTs if the poll is anything to go by at the moment. I might switch to that myself at a later date.

Anyway, you like MTTs, so it's all good.

I do.  It's the reason I only put one cash option in and no SNG ones this time :)

Another great post. Love your slightly unorthodox although highly amusing guide to number of buy-ins! Works though and I think I'm at exactly the right level according to it.

Thanks Craig. Looks like the general consensus then is that 5p/10p is about right and I should move up somewhere around £200-£300.

errrrrrrrr.  Can I plead the 5th? :)  In my defence, the poll I did in December had me playing DYM's and it didn't go too well!

Cheers Ger, appreciate your words. I've played Omaha on occasion in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, but never played a DYM in it before. That must add a weird dynamic because in cash Omaha practically everyone limps in and/or calls a raise pre-flop, because a whole range of hands could become monsters post-flop.

Whilst I would imagine the textbook DYM play in hold 'em of playing ABC and TAG until you reach the bubble would reduce the pre-flop action in Omaha to less crazy levels.

True? Or does it make no difference?

I hate to disagree with you here Mr O but I can remember playing you in a PLO DYM about 18 months ago when you were doing an omaha challange with Mr Hartigone.  Maybe the memory is going as age catches up with you ;)

Regardnig omaha dym Im not sure as im kinda new to it ....oh wait Ive played over 5k omaha dym lol.
Yes the usual dym tactics apply but still the early blinds usually involve alot of pre flop callers really depends on who is playing. The non regs usually call alot while the regs are usually more safe on when they play hands early on. Come along and join us and find out! I couldnt get online tonight busy day at work and then car issues!
