Well that was fun, are you the old bloke or the 1 in the dress LOLZ.   Ul with the flush Rich, as i said in chat i only sat down with a fiver to have a stab at the spin up challenge   but when i got the double up the 20NL tables all had waiting lists so decided to stay where i was. Left after that    little coup v you with just shy of 75 squid. So a good night enhanced by the chat from Bigrig. CORE!!!!!!

Glad to see I helped! Yeah, that was a bit of a painful hit on the hand, and simultaneously I lost a big pot with a set of kings when my opponent called my all-in bet on the flop then hit a straight on the river.

    Oh well, enjoyed it though.

PS- Seriously, I AM the one in the dress.

Another rollercoaster ride tonight, with plenty of good banter along the way.

    Session 2
    2 x 5p/10p tables

    Starting bankroll: £83.15

    Session profit:   -£19.86

    Finishing bankroll: £63.29

Sky Poker Reward points earned: 49.
Total Sky Poker Reward points for January: 173

Started badly, then clawed it from about £50 up to about £92. Then a couple of bad beats saw me back to £50 before I started climbing up again then ran out of time.

Think I might give the main and mini a go next week. It could be that I've simply had two losing sessions in a row, as anyone can, and I'm not to read too much into it. Or it could be that I didn't play well enough. Either way, I know my tournament record is far better than my cash record.

So, it might be worth a crack at the MTTs next time to see if I can cash in one and boost the bankroll, before heading back to the cash tables to try and crack them.

Cheers all, keep posting your bankroll exploits on here and see you next Wednesday night!

    Hi Richard...

I know from playing nl10 last year just how tough it is. building a bankroll is going to be a challenge for you for sure.
I wish you good luck though mate... and for sure you will need it.
I've dropped to nl4 this year and so far so good. from £8.85 I am now sat comfortably on £39.06 woohoo :)
my plan is to give nl10 another go if/when my bankroll reaches £200, so hopefully  SEE YOU THEN !!!  lolz

    best wishes,

surprised & sorry to see the loss - thought you were crushing that one table last night.
don't think you should be too worried about your cash game. table selection is your bigger problem imho, and without standing up all the time you can't do much about that. peeps will want to play you.
playing mini/main will be fun, but will decimate your bankroll in all likelihood, given the high variance in big field mtts, and your low bankroll to entry fee ratio.

Good game last night, Rich. I'm no expert on poker, but I think I noticed you bluffing just a little too much. You barrelled a few times all the way to the river, but had nothing (or not much) when it went to showdown. This is fine, sporadically, but it felt like you were just trying to fire with air too often. Maybe - as you indicated, tongue-in-cheek, I'm sure - that you were trying to build an image, so that you would be paid off when you did have the goods... except that never happened on that table!

    Thx Dev,

Yeah, you're absolutely right nl10 is pretty tough. I chipped slowly away at one table yesterday and ended up with £70 on it but then lost £30 of it in one hand when I got it all-in on the flop with a set of kings and somebody called and hit runner runner for a straight.

All that work over the hours undone in one moment. Tha's why you need to be rolled correctly for it, which I see you're doing. Fair play to you.

    Good luck getting to £200!

    Session 2 (2 tabs) -£30.51
    Session 3 (2hrs x 4 tabs) +£0.15

    Session 5 (2 hrs x 5tabs) -£1.17

    Resultant BR: 437.47

    Session 5

I started this session with the intention of not giving away any money at all. ABC ABC ABC. After an hour I was £20 up and enjoying myself. Reigning in all thoughts of 3b bluffs and river check-raising I didnt get into any deep water and this is clearly the future of my cash game.

In the last hour I lost a little focus and ran a few dubious plays for the **** of it and cost myself a few pots when i could have locked up a profit for the session.

IF ANY REGS SEE ME DO ANYTHING STUPID AT THE TABLE THEN PLEASE POST THE HAND HERE TO SHAME ME INTO IMPROVING MY GAME.

Anyway, onto a probably standard hand for cash regs, but a spot I wont get into much deep in a tourny.

Shirley is a half decent player from what I have seen so far. Wont get to the river without at least an 8 here.

What is my play on the river? Always a check behind?

Also, I forgot to thank Rich for the seat next Tuesday. Thanks a lot.

Does anyone know why I cant copy and paste hands properly in Chrome? Internet Explorer works fine, but I hate it. Chrome just displays the code where the card images should be.

Yeah I was crushing it at one point, but got unlucky on one just one hand, not over the course of a number.

    Dem's da breaks :-)

I hear what you're saying about the main/mini- but I fancy a go at it and hope to cash!

A fair observation Brian, although it has to be said all the times I did that that you noticed were against you and it went to showdown. There were obviously other times against other opponents when I got them to fold before showdown.

The 9-high hand I was definitely at it, all the way, intending to take the pot away from you on the river. If I remember rightly your hand was not all that great but you just weren't going away.

    Basically, it's your fault.

    ;-)

    No probs, Jim.

Yeah, Chrome is a nightmare for pasting hands. I always fire up Internet Explorer for that purpose only.

    Session 6:  -£30.47
    Resultant BR: 407.00

Booked another loss from a winning position. The trend is definately lose a bit - get up - lose a lot. I definately made some bad calls at the end of my session but again, I played too many hands in general and coughed up money in silly pots.

So far I think I need to eliminate 2 things from my game -
    • 3b bluffing from the blinds
    • Calling off shoves from unknown players with TP--Overpair
Obviously policing my blinds in tournaments is essential and thats my bread and butter. In cash though its simply unneccesary at this level and I am getting called a lot and then im easy prey.

Did OK vs the regs again but I am definately calling too much when an unknown player wakes up and reraises my top pair/weak 2 pair/overpair hands. These shoves are terrible from my opponents, but the calls are even worse from me and I need a slap. Its an easy leak to plug though and will turn my sessions around when I stop being so impulsive.

    Session 2 (2 hrs x 2 tabs) -£30.51
    Session 3 (2hrs x 4 tabs) +£0.15
    Session 4 (3.5hrs x 6tabs) -£38ish

You didnt put a foot wrong for all the time i was at your tables mate so any loses are definatley down to run bad and not play bad imo and although this will prob shock alot of players i would have you down as being a good winning cash player.

Like Geldy said and like i was saying to you in the chatbox on the night it is much harder for you to do a challenge like this compared to most players because most other players wont have high stakes regs and very competent medium stakes players joining there 10nl cash tables throughout the night.

I also think that your idea of playing the main and mini next week is a good one although not the best BR management ive ever seen :)

Should be costing you £49.50 of your roll to see them past the rebuy and add on stages and i think you have a very good chance of going deep in either or both on the night if the outdraw demons dont decide to pick on you and afterall you could always change your starting balance to £200 if things dont go to plan out of the millions sky pay you so all is good mate :)

    Best of luck
