As a trucker in Essex stops for a red light, a blonde in her car pulls up alongside.
She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.
The trucker lowers the window, and she says, 'Hi, my name is Sharon and you are losing some of your load.
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl again catches up.
She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.
The trucker lowers the window, and she says, 'Hi, my name is Sharon and you are losing some of your load.'
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street.
When the light turns green, the trucker revs up and races to the next light. When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde
He knocks on her window, and as she lowers it, he says.......
'Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm driving a ****ing gritter!'

West Ham chairman David Sullivan has pledged to help land two new strikers to bolster Gianfranco Zola's squad before the transfer window closes.Sullivan, a life-long Irons fan, has, along with business partner David Gold, a former youth team player at Upton Park, acquired 50 per cent of the Premier League outfit in a deal which values the club at £105million and gives the duo operational and commercial control. The pair met with Zola and assistant manager Steve Clarke on Tuesday night to discuss the way forwards.Sullivan will look to free up as much funds as possible, believed to be around £8m, after pledging no players needed to be sold."I was hugely impressed with Gianfranco and Steve," Sullivan said in the London Evening Standard."It is so great to meet a man who wants to work with us and make the team better."He has a 'can-do' attitude, but with a pragmatic approach."Gianfranco is a really nice guy. I believe he can be a great manager."We agreed we need at least one striker by the Portsmouth match and the second by the end of the window."Blackburn's Benni McCarthy, 32, almost joined West Ham from Porto five years ago, and has been linked with a switch to east London.Hammers co-owner David Gold said: "He would be a good acquisition, if that could be achieved."It's possible, but all strikers that are available as we speak are possible."Gold added on Sky Sports News: "It is a question of 'can we do business?"'There had been speculation the likes of centre-back Matthew Upson, goalkeeper Robert Green and striker Carlton Cole, as well as midfielder Scott Parker, would have to be sold off to help balance the books.Sullivan revealed on Tuesday that West Ham had been under pressure to bring in some £8m during the current window, and more by the summer, a scenario which now was no longer on the horizon due to their takeover."Matthew is the captain and his return to the team in recent weeks has coincided with improved performances," said Sullivan, who is also likely to be on the lookout for some defensive cover this month.
"We all agreed that Scott, despite a lot of interest, is going nowhere."He is a wonderful player, the heartbeat of the team. Despite the difficult times, he has always been up for the challenge, always fighting for the badge."Sullivan intends to deal with transfers himself, leaving the future of technical director Gianluca Nani unclear. The arrival of Karren Brady as vice-chairman completes the Birmingham connection at Upton Park, but her salary will be met by Sullivan and Gold rather than the club.Indeed the duo will themselves not take a wage as the new regime look to cut costs and reduce the enormous debt levels, which are owed to both banks and other clubs, including settlements to Sheffield United over the Carlos Tevez affair and former manager Alan Curbishley."We are fully behind the manager, but I do not want to go into all staff," Sullivan said."There may be some changes at some level, we are going to look at all sorts of things."We do not rush into decisions."Sullivan added: "There has to be some savings here. This is a club haemorrhaging money."There may have to be economies, and there is no point saying otherwise."To put things in perspective, I will be earning nothing, David will be earning nothing."We are personally paying Karren's wages for the next 12 months so she is not a burden to the club at all. "We are not coming here with baggage which will cost the club money, we are all going to make a contribution at zero cost to the club."Sullivan openly admits buying West Ham made no business sense, but believes now with fans in the boardroom, the future can be bright. The new owners have an option to buy the remaining 50 per cent from Icelandic bank Straumur in the next four years, but hope other wealthy supporters, including Lotus F1 supremo Tony Fernandes, whose rival takeover bid was unsuccessful, can provide more investment."Unfortunately we are inheriting these liabilities, and are going to have to work through them," Sullivan said."Every stone you turn is a negative to the cash-flow of the club."We are taking over an incredibly bad situation. However, we will sort it out because we are good at it."

'Stud' ! No, not a male buckaroo, 'Stud', not a fancy aftershave either !! "'Stud Poker', to be precise, ' 7 card pot limit tournament poker ' ! The game that gave me a living from 1993 to 2004 in Luton Casino, along with some hi stakes cash games, both there and in some weird private venue's !So as i mentioned in a previous thread, what makes ' 7 card stud ' such a different game from Hold-em and Omaha.? Well apart from the obvious that those two games rely on a communal flop , turn and river card that all players use to make their hand, in 'Stud' each player is dealt their own cards , two down 4 up and the last seventh (river )card down...There is no button as such from the point of being the last to act, but yes the button moves around the table for each new deal .... and this is the main part of the game that most players miss the point of ..?However there is always a dealer dealing to the player on their left on every street from the button. ( a street is each round of betting for every card the players receive) The act of betting depends on which player is showing the highest hand from their 'up' cards an not the player immediately to the left of the dealer button ...!!Just to complicate things a little more these days, we have inherited the European style that the initial first bet is from the lowest 'up' card to bring in the betting.
This wasn't always that way, some games had the high card bring in the betting but now it's the low card which is fine, in fact it gives the game a better dimension ..So what do we need to know about start up hands and what do we need to understand about 'pot' betting with up to a maximum of eight players at a table in this very subtle game !Well to begin , your first 3 cards are dealt singly around the players 2 down and 1 up to give you a starting hand, you need to concentrate on the seven cards that each of the players receives on 3rd street , that is every players first 'up' card, it's imported to remember them all and there suites, in fact this is one of the main keys to be successful at this game watching everything that's going on , and especially remembering what cards are passed .... Also it helps to keep looking for 'tells' from the way other players reach for their chips before its their turn to act, also look for expressions on the faces of your opponents and learn to watch for them as the game progress's.
There are 'tells' in the online version of ' 7 Card Stud' as well but this instance is a live game, 'tells' are different !.A lot of the basics that we learn in Hold-em are the same for all poker games including size of betting and the etiquette is always the same. When it comes to who's to bet = on the first round after everyone receives their third card (called 3rd street) it's the lowest numbered card to bring in the betting (must bet cant check at this stage only).. After that when the fourth card (4th street) has been dealt its the highest made hand of the two up cards to either check or bet, and so on through the 'streets' until the last seventh card is dealt to all the players that are left in the hand .. Now as we have had the four up cards dealt , we could have possibly had four different players who could have been asked to open the betting from 3rd to 6th street, because maybe the leading hands could changed on every 'street' of the deal,.After the seventh card it will still be up to the best hand showing from the 6 th street betting who is still to act first ...
That all said , it's likely that only two or three players are left in the hand by the seventh card on the deal.. Also remember there will be 'five' betting rounds including after the river , where as in Hold-em and Omaha there are only four !!What makes good starting hands for ' 7 card Stud ?"In tournament play with stud , you need in the early stages to be looking for 3 high cards suited or any pair with a high 'kicker,' any 'set' would be wonderful, with these starting cards you can build your hand as the bets go through the 'streets' .. The last thing you want to be doing is calling off chips to hit straights as the bets progress after fourth 'street', doing that and your in a world of danger in this game ..One thing that seldom gets talked about is the importance of 'chip management' !!As tournaments move on through the different levels and in most cases with 'Stud' , the ant-ies start to kick in, so it's important not to gamble or bluff , trap checking is good in some scenarios , wait for the starter hands and bet them accordingly, but more importantly concentrate on slowly building a chip stack , because in the later stages, you will be one of the dominating players when the big pushes start to happen ..I consider myself very lucky to have had a one of the best ' 7 card players I've ever known to be my mentor in "Rod Boland ", the guy was awesome at the cash tables, you could play for an hour and not know he was there, then from nowhere 'bosh !! He took down a monster pot !!There are other greats at this game and having played many tournaments and won some against, (all good mates) are the likes of, Mick McGee, Richard Ashby, Paul Alterman , Dave Colclough, along with good buddy George Kraft .....all gentlemen !!The most famous player was in the EPT Baden Austria , being sat at the same table when the main event was " 7 Card Limit Stud', with Vegas top gun, "Men The Master" ......
Those years were the pinnacle of this game in this country, today you will hardly ever see '7 Stud ' played , not since the Internet boom brought hold-em to the masses via the online card-rooms, and so to, the casino card rooms went the same way ! So there you have it, the basics of ' 7 card stud tournament .. Of course there is a lot more, but somethings you learn as you play and you build your own ways of doing things... The one thing that I never forget when playing ' 7 card stud tournament' poker is this ...."On a final table, there's only one person that can beat you ....... and that's yourself " !!! Barry (bennydip2)
I'll still be around on a certain talksportforums. chatting about greyhounds .. It's been fun here but this whole player points issue has put me on 'tilt' so no point in continuing .. and when your running bad on 'tilt .. Well it's rest or change ? .. I'll play on, so change it is .. Going Home !
Good luck all . I hope you found some fun and laughter in this thread and , maybe, who knows I might meet some of you at Luton, maybe Barcelona, or even Dublin in the near future !
Hope you change your mind Benny, you will be missed. As for the points issue, I have 50k but gave up on them months ago, not worth the hassle, definitely not worth going on tilt for. You are one of the friendliest and most entertaining players on here, always there to offer help and advice. I really do hope you reconsider, if not good luck wherever you go to play, Lisa x
Walthamstow Stadium .. Landmark: the plans for 500 new homes would retain the stadium’s iconic art deco frontage 18/01/2010
This is the first image of the scheme to redevelop Walthamstow Stadium, one of London's last greyhound tracks.Developers plan to create almost 500 homes, half of which will be “affordable”. The £100 million project would retain the landmark art deco frontage and include eight residential blocks. Housing association L&Q, which is putting forward the plans, said the redevelopment of the stadium, which closed in 2008 after 70 years, was vital in a borough where 2,000 people are waiting for homes.David Beckham, who worked at “the Stow” collecting glasses as a teenager, said its demise was “a real shame”......
What a travesty. It still saddens me that The Stow is no more. Still, we had a good few winners there. I have lots of great memories of the place and the people that made an evening out there such good fun. Our greatest night was with my good friend "Matty' when we took 'Perrys Tango' to win the Champion Sprint and equal the track record ..
Along with 'Mailroad Dreamer' and "Rosstemple Dream' .... "We lived the dream ....and won !"
'
I'd just like to thank those people who joined us as we tried to keep the track for racing via the campaign to 'Save The Stow" here, and on the other forums ..
A last chance reprieve may be imminent after news this week that SOS (Save Our Stadium) has been granted access to Walthamstow Stadium in the next couple of weeks is hugely promising in the attempts to re-open our flagship track.
A bid for the iconic Stadium must now be imminent and with L & Q under pressure from local MP's and Councillors we can also help by continuing to badger Waltham Forest Council not to let the site be changed from what should be a leisure facility for housing development.
Again many thanks to all who have mailed me, and our friends wishing us well, and who knows, it might just happen......"It's never over till it's over"
On the poker side of things ......... Well when I have the time, I'm playing satellites to the Irish Open, but just now it's busy busy, so good luck all, see you in a couple of months .....
Oh quick joke...

John Terry's favourite war movie'A Bridge Too Far'*******************************************************Jimmy Greaves wrote the following in the Daily Mail on Saturday.
'I used to drive to matches, park in the side street and walk to the ground.' That was how it was. John Sillett told me about a nightmare game he had at left back for Chelsea. He scored an own goal, the full works. He said he took his time leaving, to let the crowd go. He waited until it was getting dark, pulled his overcoat up and headed to the bus stop. And he was standing there waiting, and there were still a few fans about, they were slagging him off without knowing he was in the middle of them. He said he didn't want to take any chances, so he joined in.''But you know what makes me laugh ?The idea of a footballer at a bus stop. Can you imagine that now ? It was not as if football was unpopular then: Chelsea used to play in front of 50,000 people, more than they get now.'

'Roll the credits' and say, "The End" !

I hope you found some fun and laughter in this thread and , maybe,
who knows I might meet some of you at Luton, maybe Barcelona, or even Dublin in the near future !

It's over, the battle for 'The Stow' is lost !
First sight of £100million plan for
Walthamstow Stadium ..
'
I'd just like to thank those people who joined us as we tried to keep the track for racing via the campaign to 'Save The Stow" here, and on the other forums ..
glk all ...Barry
A last chance reprieve may be imminent after news this week that SOS (Save Our Stadium) has been granted access to Walthamstow Stadium in the next couple of weeks is hugely promising in the attempts to
re-open our flagship track.
A bid for the iconic Stadium must now be imminent and with L & Q under pressure from local MP's and Councillors we can also help by continuing to badger Waltham Forest Council not to let the site be changed from what should be a leisure facility for housing development.
Visit the SOS website here to download a draft letter.

It was not as if football was unpopular then:
Chelsea used to play in front of 50,000 people, more than they get now.'
