Yes I had a bit on it today, meant to post up under the "Horses to follow on the Jumps Thread2013/14" But was other wise engaged.
Southfield Theatre - (Wincanton, 13:30) 0.73/1 (Sky) Winner Smart hurdler who made a winning start to his chasing career in 19f Chepstow maiden last month. Definitely more to come and looks the one to beat here.
Led until 4rd, led after next, pushed along when idling on stable bend before 9th, drew clear after 3 out, not fluent last, comfortably
Killer Crow - (Naas, 14:45) 1.58/1 (Betfair) Winner Bumper winner. Promising 2nd of 16 in novice hurdle (4/9) when making hurdles bow at Roscommon (20f, good to soft) 68 days ago. Stable in good form. Has best chance on form.
Tracked leaders, raced keenly, not fluent 3rd and next, led 3 out, joined before next, soon regained narrow advantage and kept on well under pressure to assert from last
Useful hurdler, impressive winner of valuable handicap at Leopardstown in January. 6 lengths 13th of 18 to Vautour in Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Exciting chasing prospect.
Hi George - (Sedgefield, 14:20)UR Bumper winner who was successful twice over timber. Showed plenty of improvement when making a winning chase debut at Catterick in December but not seen since.
Virtuel D'oudon - (Exeter, 14:10) 11/2 (Bet365) 2nd Point winner who landed a bumper at Plumpton and successful on 2 of 4 starts over hurdles. Type to do better over fences.
Prominent, led 6th until after next, ridden approaching 4 out, chance when hit 3 out, stayed on same pace from next (tchd 9/2 and 11/2)
King Of The Wolds - (Ayr, 14:50)10/1 (B365) 2nd Hasn't really progressed since being a fortunate winner at Fakenham a year ago, though has at least run some respectable races in defeat. Well backed but folded tamely at Aintree on return last month.
El Macca - (Bangor, 15:00) 4/1 (B365) X Caught the eye in all 3 qualifying runs in maiden company at up to 20f, and improved form without winning switched to handicapping. Runner-up at Worcester (20f) last month. Should be more to come.
Ptit Zig - (Exeter, 15:10) 2/11 (Betfair) Winner Group 1 winner in France a year ago and carried top weight when runner-up in the Ladbroke at Ascot the following month. Not disgraced in Champion/Aintree Hurdle last 2 starts and looks a chasing type.
Prominent, led 5th, not fluent 4 out, in command after, readily (op 1/4 tchd 2/7 in a place)
Taylor - (Ludlow, 13:30) 0.71/1 (Betfair) 2nd Promising start in the frame in a couple of bumpers (trained by Stuart Crawford on debut) and no surprise to see her figure on hurdles bow.
Always prominent, shaken up approaching 3 out, effort when not much room and switched left approaching last, strong challenge after, stayed under pressure run-in, edged left near finish, just held (op 4/5)
Champagne Fever - (Clonmel, 14:25) 10/11 (Paddy Power) Winner 15¼ lengths 6th of 8 to God's Own in Ryanair Novices' Chase (5/4) at Punchestown (16f, good to soft), going off too hard. Off 6 months. Back up in trip. Yard in good form. Has good chance on form. Tracked leaders, raced keenly, mistake 2nd, led narrowly 5th until headed briefly after next, going best with narrow advantage into straight, left clear from 2 out and in command, stayed on well, comfortably (op 4/5)
Scaled new heights when narrowly opening chasing account at Newbury (17f) in January and didn't look out of place in listed event at the Festival when last seen, jumping well. More to come. Mid-division, ridden after 4 out, weakened after next, pulled up before 2 out (op 7/1)
Won a trio of handicaps last autumn and did well to finish fourth in the Grand Annual. Should have come on for recent Ascot return, not knocked about, and better forthcoming here.
Led until not fluent 4th, chased leader until 9th, weakened after 4 out, tailed off (op 12/1)
Champagne West - (Cheltenham, 14:25) 4/1 (Ladbrokes) Winner Winning pointer in Ireland and useful form over hurdles, winning 3 times before fourth of 18 in Albert Bartlett at the Festival. Promises to be at least as good over fences so needs considering.
Held up 5th, (not fluent 5th), took closer order 8th, led last (usual 3 out), ridden over 1f out, stayed on well
Colour Squadron - (Cheltenham, 14:25) 2.55/1 (Betfair) 2nd Solid efforts when twice placed all 3 outings in valuable handicaps at up to 21f at Cheltenham last season. Did too much too soon when second at Newton Abbot on return. Major player on these terms.
Held up, smooth headway after last (usual 3 out) to track winner 2f out, ridden well over 1f out, soon hung left, stayed on but not pace to challenge (op 2/1 tchd 13/8 and 9/4 in places)
Urban Hymn - (Cheltenham, 14:25) 9/2 (ladbrokes) X Point winner. Made a winning start in Huntingdon bumper and quickly developed into a very useful novice hurdler afterwards. Smart chasing prospect who was only just denied at Carlisle on return.
Jumped slightly right, led until last (usual 3 out) soon ridden, not pace of front pair final 2f (op 9/2)
Blaklion - (Cheltenham, 15:00) 15/8 (Betfair) 2nd Unbeaten in bumpers and made successful transition to hurdles when scoring at Perth (2½m) on return. Much improved when following up in Grade 2 at Chepstow and sets a clear standard on that.
Led, quickened pace after 2 out, ridden after last, headed final 120yds, not going pace of winner (op 6/4 tchd 7/4 and 15/8 in places)
Cup Final - (Cheltenham, 16:05) 11/8 (Paddy Power) 3rd Raced just 4 times and overriding feeling is that we have nowhere near seen the best of him, flying too high in the Neptune at the Festival when last seen. Opening mark may underestimate him.
