Good luck with the new challenge, Jim.

Hard to explain how someone like you can lose 7 from 8, but it's quite encouraging to me, as I seem to experience the same thing from time to time, be it winning streaks or losing streaks. Don't mess with variance, I guess, she's a fickle so & so.

Am extremely impressed with young Martial, & not just his clinical finishing - he has a wonderful temperament for one so young. To some degree, that's almost as important as raw ability.

Played a good few games tonight, much to no avail to be honest.

I have started to see a pattern developing with my play and I imagine its been there all along, just have not seen it as much till tonight.

It seems the lower the standard of player I play and I don't mean that in a mean way, but maybe a less experienced hilo player maybe, the worse I play and the better the standard of player the better I play.

Example played 6/8 very average players won 2 games, vespa came for a game by far the best player of all and immediately I switched on, and played the best game of the night.

Why do I have to wait till I feel challenged before I play anything like my A game.

Its really headwrecking considering there is more inexperienced players turning up than Vespas, if you get what I mean.

Anyhow carry on regardless, BR not looking good atm.

Also I would like to add sky Dan, this is by far the best UKOPS to date in my opinion, I don't really play mtt but will def be playing that £11 hilo . Well done you are making a massive difference to the whole sky experience.
I for one would not even think of playing elsewhere at the minute, I love it on here really do.

Are you taking over from the old bloke as sky no 1 man. ( not just yet maybe )

I am still kicking, just about mind you.

Had a conversation about poker the other day at work with a couple of the younger ones shall we say.

Thought I would try I would impress them the next day and took in my signed copy of ace on the river (Barry Greenstein )
which I got signed in crown casino Melbourne.

He signed it good luck Jim in life and in poker and the mrs took a picture of it all.

The 3 young blokes looked at me strange and said who the f.... is he

Been a rollercoaster for me the last 2 weeks, settling into work, trying to make an impression with people and all the usual stuff with starting a new job.

My poker has suffered as per usual and I expect that, as it seems power for the course whenever I am a personally stressed it comes out in my poker performance.

Normally I get along with most people I play, but there is a few that rattle my cage, and I react accordingly.
But I really do regret this and I am very sorry if I have offended anyone along the way.

I think since I started posting on here I have learned an awful lot,  a game, a day or a week running bad doesn't matter, what matters  is treating people with respect at all times, I always knew this but sometimes in the heat of the moment I lose track of that.

I hope I have explained myself enough, because I love being in this community and would not like to be pushed out because of past mistakes.

Nice one Kags, this is so true, dont mean to get too deep about it but the best things in life are free. It costs nothing to have and make new friends. We do get consumed about money and winnings and lose perspective a bit on what really matters in life.

That said go crush them tonight kags! lol

    Good luck

Well done Geraldirl on you cash £450 for 11th in the premiership freeroll.
Delighted for you, that's about a million euros isn't it ?.

My own challenge is on its knees tbh have not even got the heart to keep the game stats, but there not good.
Tonight alone I played 6 lost 4 of them, feel like giving up, so hard to keep positive when nothing seems to be going right.
But I am going to stay going BR €13.75

Some run good please or even some play good would be nice.

Boom nail on  head right there Kag lad.
if your doing BR management or playing with scared money
that will effect the way you play,

You are an excellent plo8 HU player kag (obvs I R more excellent)
so play the cards, play the percentages play the situation.
Don't worry about running bad (that's variance )
Don't worry about playing bad ( you don't kag ..unless you worry about variance)

just play  your game and you will eventually crush (simple's)

Regards Alan (plo8 I shouldn't really give you advice champ)

Just went broke again only my 100th time, so that's not too bad.
Going to take a bit of time off I think, need to find my game again.
Even though I have loss my roll and I know it was small to begin with, it still stings.
But i am more determined than ever to get it right, just need to figure out how.
    God its depressing.
Thanks for the kind words Aj, and keep at it yourself m8 it will come for you aswell, I am sure of that.

When I continue this again and I will, I am going to have at least £50 and a clear head.
The £50 bit is the easy bit, clear head not so sure.

No need to take time off kag lad.
    You have, your game.
Just don't let, bad beats and down swings beat you up.

It's all part of the game, accept it and you'll be fine.
Play YOUR Game, carry on regardless. GL M8

Been a few weeks since I posted, been a while since I played apart from a few hu here and there.

Been reading DOHHHHHHH diary everyday, compulsive reading, such a great bloke, just waiting for things to turn around for him and its coming soon I hope.

I miss Jacs diary also compulsive reading aswell, hope he is enjoying his break.

And Tikays diary, well he's just got plain lazy, but fits into the above category aswell.

Work has been going really well, I don't think I opened my mouth for the first 5 weeks and everyone thought jezz this bloke is strange, but in truth I think I was so used to being on my own over last few years playing poker online that I got used to my own company, and didn't feel the need or want to talk, but I am slowly losing that and feel much better for it.

As great as this game is, sometimes it stunts your social skills in the real world.

Grant levy a schoolteacher from Sydney turned pro poker player, spoke of how it saddened him that the young up and coming aussie poker pros were great people but would spend days upon days sitting at the table without muttering a word,
and yes they were elite at the game they played but miles behind on social skills.

I am glad I have swapped things around a bit and gone for human interaction, I feel much better.

And they don't think I am as strange now, well until I start talking about hilo.

Thanks Gregster for a great game in the FA cup jobbie, I noticed you were playing 2-3 £10 dyms at the time I asked you to play but you came along anyway, and in my opinion a strong favourite to take it down.

A well done to a virtual friend AJMILTON who in the last few weeks is doing one thing different, playing hilo like it should be played  and has stopped the messing around and the results are showing.

Its funny how you see players who you know are good at hilo in fact very good but don't apply themselves for one reason or another and your happy with that, one less shark to contend with, not the case with Mr Milton anymore I think, he has his serious head on and I am happy for him.

    Morning Jim,

    Much to agree with there.

I find Dohhh's diary fascinating - I disagree with SO many things he says & does (nothing wrong with that) but some things about him totally perplex me.

He's a very bright lad, imo, but I think he wastes his undoubted talent on trivialities. Why he would choose to be staked completely mystifies me. (He is very profitable & hugely over-rolled). He complains that the rake at micro limits is too high to be able to turn a profit, but forgoes x times as much by giving away x% of his profit to a staker. It's these contradictions which intrigue & mystify in equal measure.

His Diary went a little flat recently, & it's a pain to write when people don't interact (see "awkward social skills") so I spent some enjoyable time poking & prodding it, & it helped do the trick, it sparked back to life. I'm not doing so at present, as I was quite resentful at the suggestion that myself & others were having a "kneejerk reaction" to something he wrote, but I daresay I'll return in due course as I do care about the kid, & want to help him, get his life back in order. He had a problem, & sought advice. We tried to help. That's it. I don't think we deserved to be insulted. Move on, life's too short......

Jac? It was shameful what happened to him. Simple as that. We are supposed to be civilised human beings, grown-ups. Hurling abuse at someone (publically) because you dislike them is bang wrong. There are LOTS of people & things I don't like, so I just ignore, say nothing. If I waste my time doing bad things, it gives me less time to do good positive things. That's how life works. He has had some health issues, his wife has very serious long term health issues, which are unlikely to go away, & they have a young child. The last thing he needs is online harassment., (It's a criminal offence these days, you know). Bottom line, he is a good man. We are not forced to like him, but we are free to ignore him if we don't.

My diary gone quiet? Guilty as charged. I adore writing, but I'm doing more blogging these days, (one yesterday, another due today) at the behest of The Business, & I suspect the readers see & hear more than enough of me one way & another. Old people are so boring, I've met a few myself. Who wants to listen to old peeps prattle on? I have business interests & a Diary elsewhere, too, & my young lady deserves some of my time, too. It's a job to spin so many plates. Not sure my Diary here has many readers apart from my dear friends & mates in Team PLO8.

As to (some) online poker players having reduced or awkward social skills, don't start me off or I'll be here all day. Honestly, I could write a book about the contradictions I see on Forums. Like, you know, writing "hello", or "good morning" when we first engage with a complete stranger. Put them at ease, make them comfy. I've shared poker tables for up to 12 hours with kids who never uttered a single word (except poker tales) in 12 hour sessions. Ugh. Life is going to be a struggle for them. People get in a "poker bubble" & it's quite sad to see.

Good post Jim, you've started me off now. Best go do some work, before I get in trouble.

+1 to all that. He's a lovely chap, very funny (witty), but he was messing around, & setting fire to £5 notes willy nilly. It's good to see him applying himself better. There is nothing worse than wasting talent. Those of us without talents wish we had them, & would not waste them.

All hail to The Champ, & goodbye to The Chump.
