Message for Uncle Pom I have organised your Free Entry for tonight's 8pm Main Event, which is part 2 of your £55 prize. Good luck mate. Posted by Tikay10
hi scouse, great tables. any reason why the mastersheet for the week cant be published? no need to do a huge final one, but a weekly one would be of interest to me at least. Posted by suzy666
yeah I can post one on Monday morning, technically it's a monthly league but I'm sure I can add a sheet somewhere along the way, and if it's weekly it'll run from Monday to Sunday, so I'll sort something for Monday morning
Yes, many thanks for tables. I for one like to see the weekly sheet, see how everyone's doing, how far it is to catch the leaders and heaven forbid catch any mistakes.
Dunno what anyone else thinks about this, and I guess its the same for everyone, but I was thinking there's not enough reward for the final 6 places.
For example, I finished 2nd earlier in the week, 39 runners for 41 points. then finish 26th (I think) sun eve with 65 runners for 39 points.
I'm wondering if the 'other' score method of lowest points works better, and is alot easier to 'see' your scores. Another thought was that with some of the biggest fields, getting to the final table may well be easier than in a shorter field of regs for a number of reasons!

Definitely valid points Suzy however... If this continues into a second month (still waiting to hear if we have the final go ahead for this), some of the issues will become a less important due to a few changes designed to simplify things and make admin lighter for Sky.

are we allowed to here what the changes being considered are?

To a point yes, it isn't anything to do with being 'allowed to' perse. It is just that they are still to be agreed and therefore not definitively known at the moment.
The current thinking has been that if things continue into a second month then several changes are needed...
When we had the £11 MTT with much reduced numbers the current scoring system made the £11 tourneys almost irrelevant in relation to league points. Now we have the £5.50 game at 9:15pm which may have remedied that problem if numbers for both were very similar. The numbers for this are still settling though so how that impacts exactly on scoring is still being monitored (I think Chris has been experimenting with a few things).
Also, probably most importantly we still need the green light for either month 2 and/or the foreseeable future otherwise it is all irrelevant.
The month 1 format also looks a bit admin heavy due to the number of manual registering for tourneys that needs to be done.
So there are a few unknown quantities at the moment but there is loose agreement that if things continue into month 2 then one single weekly prize to whomever can amass the most bounties in a single night that week between both tournies might be better. If that is to be the case then it would be up to Chris if he wanted to keep doing the monthly league as it would be purely for fun and bragging rights as prizes would be for bounty hunting.
The benefits I see of the weekly prize for the most bounties collected in a single night is that it will (a) encourage participation in both tournies; (b) be admin light with potentially only 4 manual entries to do a month; (c) give players something to play for every night of the month and (d) simplify things so they are easy to follow for even the most casual onlookers/participants.
The idea was based around a suggestion from Hendrik, the comments in the other thread about things not being easy to follow, other comments in the other thread generally and discussions between myself, Chris and Tikay.
Hopefully it all works out and we get the green light! The 9:15pm does appear to be generally doing a little better apart from falling marginally short last night the numbers over the last few days have looked good to me at least and it has gone well past the guarantee the odd night recently. So fingers crossed

ok, makes sense.
From my personal view it would be a shame to have a bounty only prize, but it is a league from 2 BH tournaments and for the reasons you state has merit.
I will send an email to Chris tonight after I catch up with some work and see how he is getting on and then post any changes etc well before month 2 starts.
I say 'month' but it looks like we will be moving to a weekly prize as mentioned above.

great news
Mark just let me know what the decision to go with is and I'll amend / create / re-create / destroy / exterminate spreadsheets as necessary lol
Everything now seems agreed for things to continue after the end of the month and for a few changes. I can therefore summarise the new shape of things here. I won't change the rules in the opening post as they still stand until the end of the current month. When the current month is done I will update the rules in the opening post.
From Monday 27th February things will look like this...
The same 7:15pm & 9:15pm nightly PLO8 Bounty Hunter £5.50 buy in £200 GTD games will count as is the case just now.
Prizes will be changing though. There will be a weekly prize (£33 tourney entry) for the person collecting the most bounties in a single evening (from any combination or the 2 games). Each week commences with the Monday evening games and concludes with the following Sunday evening games.
Win both of the nightly tourneys in 1 evening and get a £33 tourney entry (If more than 1 player does this then the 1st player to do so each month will win the prize).
To reduce admin - The volume of prizes will be less (although the cash amount is still roughly the same).
So things are easier to follow - The new system will be easier for any casual player/poster to glance at the rules and know what is going on (collect more bounties than anyone in a single evening or win both games).
Something to play for every night - Obviously the new system means there won't be any 'dead periods' where all the prizes have been sewn up. Someone could enter the games at any point in the month and collect the most bounties for an evening in that week.
To clearly encourage participation in both games - Although you can collect the most bounties in a single evening that week from just 1 of the games, both games count towards your evening total so it will obviously improve your chances to play both tourneys.
So that the system works for regs and casual players - Playing loads will clearly improve your chances but there is absolutely nothing stopping a casual player turning up and winning the lot.
The new system has been devised by listening to comments made from players, a suggestion from Hendrik and talking things over with Tikay and Chris to try and find a balance that works for everyone, both the players and Sky.
So what happens to the league standings tables now?
These will purely be for fun/bragging rights as no prizes will be attached to any monthly league standings. It will be entirely up to Chris if he wants to continue with these. Chris has indicated he may continue with these and may use the lowest score system used in Churchy (Brian's) Thursday league.
Many thanks to Chris for his efforts doing all the tables (I am not sure how often he is happy to post updates as to who currently has the most bounties from a single evening each week?). Also thanks to James, Tikay and Sky for supporting the games!
The first games that will count towards the new system are those on Monday 27th February.
Hope everyone enjoys the new system and good luck!
