Being a keen writer (rambler), I've thought about starting a thread for some time.
While such projects are ultimately for personal enjoyment, I realise this is a public forum and, therefore, believe I should try to make it at least slightly entertaining. Subject is key, obviously.
I always enjoy telling a tale of woe over ones that have a happy ending (NB a well told tale of woe is not the same as endless bad beats squeals), so, with that in mind, I decided to record my efforts in the 20:30 £5.50 buy-in "Mini's".
I have a poor record in these tournaments. I can only recall one decent cash in probably 50 attempts (maybe more). I actually just see every entry as a fiver donation and something that I want to get over and done with every time I have a night on here - shocking attitude, I know.
So, starting tonight, this thread will document my efforts in every "Mini" I play.

I hope this isn't in breach of any forum rules? Please let me know if so.

Breach of forum rules? Not at all @mushroom1 , carry on, the forum badly needs more contributors and especially diaries which are updated regularly.
Be fun if you won it tonight.
Humour in the face of difficult results is the best way to go I think.
The challenge to improve your results and rename the diary, to something like " mini marvels" is going to be fun.
Good luck
Nick
Don't hold your breath!
Let's aim for Level 2.
Yes, although I'll settle for "A break even thread"
BTW, winning a mini (even FT'ing) is akin to (I imagine) surviving a zombie apocalypse...

I fold.
Best of luck in your exploits!
On the button with AQo.
10/20 CO makes it 60. I flat call (I know).
Flop comes Ace high, two hearts. BB bets pot, raiser calls.
I pass.
Ended up all in on river. AJ vs flush.
How badly did I play this?
I play far too many hands for that to be possible.
I will post stuff about interesting hands, especially those where I've played like a chump.
Will take a look at your hands/spots (maybe later if it's not too late, or tomorrow, or whenever get a chance) and offer my opinions/thoughts/advice if you like - unless anyone better qualified gets in there first.
Even got a bounty. So we're only looking at a £3.62 loss. A personal triumph.
Never had a stack and seemed constantly flanked by live-wires, so had to sit and suffer.
I didn't play that well, probably because I didn't have that many decisions to make. Went out with a bit of wimper final hand, but my stack was tiny by then.
Lost a relatively big pot two off the bubble. I shoved a 12bb stack to a min raiser (9bb stack) and his J9x trumped my lowly AKx. Maybe if that held I would've shown some flair (eg bluff off my chips).
Still, I trebled up my 3bb stack the following hand and.....
........a profit. Turns out I'm actually brilliant at cashing in this tournament. Who knew?

I am now retiring this thread.
Mine was a similar story and I was out shortly after yourself.
See you in the next one, glgl
One thing I noticed last night was how quickly the field was whittled down. It seemed we were down to 100-odd relatively quickly.
Obviously a £5 buy-in 2k guarantee MTT is going to be a minefield early on, which is probably why I've always struggled to cash in the past. I like to play as many small pots as possible in levels 1-3 and that's rarely going to be possible in this particular tournament.
Therefore, no plans to change the title of the thread.
Attempt #2 likely to be either Sunday or Monday.
