Finally somebody who explains a point without a superior attitude.
Its difficult to answer that question without taking forever. Obviously the perfect response is to trade with as many countries as is profitably possible but the EU trade as a block which seems to be why everybody is in a flap to get a trade deal done before.
We currently trade with around 97 countries through our EU membership.
However, as a no deal Brexit advocate, I feel that this isnt really leaving merely a reworking of the status quo.
Clearly untrue.
What I want is some balls from the political leaders to say to the Spanish "Ok see how long your fishing industry lasts without access to British waters "
We sell most of our fish to the EU without tariffs, and also fish in their waters.
Or to the French and Polish hauliers "Ok lets see how cheap your goods are in Ireland now you cant just rock up to Holyhead or Stranraer or Liverpool and jump on a boat. No sorry gotta go the long way round". Wow Calais to Rosslare / Dun Loghaire /Dublin, thats going to put some transport costs through the roof.
What on earth would cause this to occur? Are you saying we will stop European lorries entering the country?
Are you saying that you are in favour of bankrupting British companies that currently source components from Europe, by increasing the costs of sourcing these components, in addition to the cost of tariffs?
With no border in Ireland how are you going to stop illegal immigrants coming in?
Now dont get me wrong thats said slightly tongue in cheek, but Im sick of being told that we must do x y z because we are helpless to do anything else. Not so.
Who is saying we are helpless, whether we remain or leave?
The first thing thats drummed into you in flight school is, in the event of a problem your first responsibility is to fly the plane whether its a single engine Cessna 152 or an Airbus A380. Not troubleshoot, not fix the problem, just fly the plane. If there are others on board let them work the checklists etc, if not stabalise the aircraft then work the problem.
I don't understand how this is relevant to your argument.
It would appear that those charged with delivering the brexit plane forgot the basics and all rushed to troubleshoot. The ensuing result is a stalled plane reaching an almost unrecoverable attitude. Actions now have to be quick and decisive or the subsequent enquiry is going to say one thing.
The position we are in is that there is not a majority in Parliament that will vote in favour of passing the Withdrawal Bill, that's it end of.
To do any trade with the EU, we have to pass it. There will be no trade otherwise.
There is absolutely nobody that is suggesting that a no deal should be an end result.
So everyone who supports no deal really means, do a deal later, rather than stop trading altogether, forever.
So to suggest no deal, to me, is ridiculous, because nobody really means no deal.
Nothing to do with planes, troubleshooting, or pilots.
I see you are unable to grasp an analogy. My apologies I thought you were more savvy.
Clearly remain supporters need the big wax crayon version.
Why would you come up with such a silly post instead of addressing the genuine points that I made regarding your posts, in the hope of a proper debate.
I see you are unable to grasp an analogy. My apologies I thought you were more savvy.

WALKING AWAY WITH NO DEAL
What happens to the Irish border?
What happens to UK citizens living in the EU, and Europeans living in the UK?
After not paying the EU what we owe them, do we expect them to remain friendly?
Do you really think that they value a bit of money, more than Single Market integrity?
Farages message is trade on WTO rules, you realise that this involves tariffs?

Do you think we will be worse off by losing a trade deal with the 27 other members, plus around 70 other countries?
Why would you think that imposing tariffs on our trade with these 97 countries is beneficial?
Why are you in favour of more taxes?
Why are you in favour of increasing prices to consumers, which will undoubtedly affect the poorest the most?

Are you aware that we, as WTO members, already have the right to trade with the other 160 odd members without leaving the EU?
What do you think Liam Fox meant when he said "If the WTO is so good, then why would anyone do a trade deal?"
I could go on, but don't intend to. My sole purpose in asking these questions was to see if you are clear on your Brexit plan, rather than to come across as a smart ar5e. You have previously posted about your foodbank work, which I applaud.
This makes your views on Brexit, and in particular a no deal Brexit, much more difficult to comprehend, as in many people view, this will increase the number of your customers, and your existing customers will suffer the most.
I will post some referendum campaign quotes as proof of the fact that very few people, if any, thought they were voting for a no deal Brexit.
I don't consider these anti Brexit rhetoric, an accusation you made in a previous post, as they are mostly quotes from prominent figures in the leave campaign, that were made during the run up to the referendum, that many voters, unfortunately hoped were true.
The thing is the only people who want compromise are those who didnt want out in the first place.
Like I posted about a thousand posts ago Out means out, no negotiations, no deals, nothing , nowt, nada.
Just like a real divorce. Leave first, sort the who gets what out after. Also just like after a real divorce life goes on and gets better.
#lionsledbycowards
Are you being serious?
Yes thats what most brexit supporters voted for. No more payments to the EU. No more meddling by the ECJ. No more anything. Leave, goodbye, sayonara, go, do one, tarra, laters.
All evidence points to the contrary.
Germany still want to sell us their cars, France their wine etc. Spain will still want to fish in our waters etc except now they do it on our terms not theirs. Hello US. China, India, S.E. Asia.
A silly Boris argument. These other countries aren't exactly banging our door down. You never mention our fishing in other countries waters, for some reason. Many other countries are insisting on huge increases in visa numbers, as part of any trade deal. Many Brexit voters were against increasing immigration.
Lets do business.
They are not queueing up are they? We have access to trade deals with around 70 countries, through our EU membership. Liam Fox promised to replace 40 trade deals by 29th March, this year. Ask him how that went?
I see you are unable to grasp an analogy. My apologies I thought you were more savvy.

You have misunderstood the meaning of single market integrity.
Farages message is trade on WTO rules, you realise that this involves tariffs?
TARIFFS WORK BOTH WAYS
They do. When two countries trade on WTO rules, consumers in both countries pay more for their goods.
Tariffs are effectively taxes, and make goods more expensive for consumers?
NOT ACCORDING TO SEVERAL ECONOMISTS AND BUSINESS OWNERS DESPERATE TO ESCAPE THE STRANGLING EFFECT OF THE SINGLE MARKET
Who are these economists? Explain the strangling effect of the single market? Any business owner can currently trade with the rest of the world on WTO rules. How could the single market hold any business back?
Why would you wish to increase the prices of food etc?
ACCORDING TO THE CEO OF WEATHERSPOONS THE COST TO US WOULD ACTUALLY DECREASE.
He has thankfully shut up on Brexit at last. His statements on Brexit were embarrassing. He was battered by people who knew what they were talking about, many times.
Maybe you could explain why you think a tariff, could possibly make a product cost less?
For instance the expected tariff on cars to the EU was 10%. So if we imported a 70k BMW, the Government gets 7k, so they put the price up to cover the tariff, and the consumer pays more.
Tariffs mean cheaper prices. I have heard it all now.
Thats like saying that paying income tax means you take home more money.
Do you think that tariffs might kill off our manufacturing industry?
HELLO MATE ITS ALREADY DEAD. THE EU KILLED THAT OFF
How did the EU do this? It is a market of 500million consumers, with preferential trade and frictionless borders. To just say that means you are talking through an alternative orifice to your mouth.
If not, do you think that eliminating frictionless borders might do it?
HOW OFTEN DO YOU TRAVEL WITH FREIGHT TO SAY ITALY OR AUSTRIA. BORDER QUEUES ARE HORRENDOUS
So you think customs checks will make it quicker? Why the lorry parks in Kent then?
How could just in time manufacturers cope?
BY EVOLVING
How on earth do you evolve just in time manufacturing. It is a ronseal. Just in time means just in time. Delays mean it cant be just in time. Some of our car factories get deliveries from 300 trucks per day. They can do this because of the frictionless borders.
Evolving is almost as good as put the price up, and consumers buy it cheaper, but not quite.
How long before our car manufacturers relocate, after the imposition of 10% tariffs?
"OUR" ?? THATS A BIT RICH SORRY FORGOT YOURE A EUROPHILE. THEY ONLY LOCATED HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE DUE TO INCENTIVES OF CHEAP LAND AND SUBSIDIES AND TAX BREAKS
But they are here now and employing thousands, with many more thousands in the supply chain. See how your argument goes down with those that will lose their jobs.
Many manufacturers only set up here to access the single market.
Do you think we will be worse off by losing a trade deal with the 27 other members, plus around 70 other countries?
NO I DONT BECAUSE WE WONT LOSE TRADE. THERE IS A WORLD OUT THERE YOU KNOW
It is the same world that has been out there for the 45 years that we have been members of the EU, and we have always been able to trade with it.
Why would you think that imposing tariffs on our trade with these 97 countries is beneficial?
WHY WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT ISN'T
Because the prices are guaranteed to go up.
Why are you in favour of more taxes?
I WILL WILLINGLY PAY MORE TAXES TO HAVE MY GOVERNMENT HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER MY COUNTRY
In reality the EU has little control and provides little Primary Legislation, as has been posted on here many times.
Why are you in favour of increasing prices to consumers, which will undoubtedly affect the poorest the most?
OH PLEASE AS A EUROPHILE DONT EVEN PRETEND TO HAVE THE IMPOVERISHED ON YOUR LIST OF CONCERNS. IF THE EU COULD AIRBRUSH THEM OUT OF SOCIETY THEN THEY WOULD. ALSO FOR EVERY EXPERT WHO SAYS PRICES WILL INCREASE THERE ONE WHO SAYS THEY WONT TRUTH IS NOBODY KNOWS
The reason why prices go up is increased costs, tariffs definitely increase costs.
Please don't presume you know what I am concerned about, you don't know me, or anything about me.
Do you understand that there will be no trade negotiations until we pass the Withdrawal Bill?
WELL BETTER CRACK ON THEN EH

The last row on fishing was when ours were fishing off the French coast, when the French weren't allowed to fish there.

OK THERE YOU HAVE SOME ANSWERS
The Wetherspoons bloke is a d1ck
Walmart CFO Brett Biggs said Thursday that prices at its stores will increase if more tariffs are imposed. The US-China trade war reached new levels over the past week after both sides imposed fresh tariffs on billions of dollars' worth of each other's goods. Now, Trump is threatening to impose tariffs on a further $300 billion worth of Chinese goods. "Increased tariffs will lead to increased prices, we believe, for our customers," Biggs said.
Tariff is a restrictive measure which seeks to control the quantity of import so that, domestic industry may be protected.Tariffs increase the prices of imported goods.
The president tweeted that the tariffs “have had little impact on product cost, mostly borne by China,” and that they will make the U.S. “much stronger.” But experts, including White House economics advisor Larry Kudlow, say U.S. consumers can expect to take a hit.
“Tariffs are taxes paid by American businesses and consumers – not China,” Jonathan Gold, vice president for supply chain and customs policy for the National Retail Federation, told CNBC Make It.
What Is a Tariff? In simplest terms, a tariff is a tax. It adds to the cost of imported goods and is one of several trade policies that a country can enact.
There is apparently a majority for another independence referendum in Scotland, but not necessarily immediately.
The last one was clearly affected by the threat of having to leave the EU, if they left the UK.
Logically EU supporters would have voted against independence because of this.
Every Brexit option causes economic harm, and job losses. The biggest disaster will be no deal.
I could see that if Brexit caused hardship, many voters might see that EU membership may be a solution, and independence as the answer.
How many years would it take to sort out the Scottish border?
Northern Ireland would be much easier of course. A United Ireland would presumably automatically be members.
So, if Brexit caused enough of a downturn in NI, the voters may see a United Ireland with EU membership, as being preferable to remaining in the Union.
No need for a backstop, and an easy answer to the Irish border issue.
Then there is Wales.
If Scotland and NI were seen to be prospering outside the Union, it may persuade the people of Wales to vote for independence, and to join the EU.
Passports on the Severn Bridge?
I could see this happening, maybe not immediately, it would take some time, particularly in Wales.
The funny thing is, it would probably be the same people that were voting for Brexit as a protest vote, that would be voting for independence, as a protest against what they voted for in the first place.
The speed of this happening would be dictated by how bad Brexit turns out to be.
I think that the majority of leave voters don't really believe that we will be worse off in any way, after we leave.
Lets be honest here neither can afford to be independent.
If they want it let them have it, no more earn it in England spend it in Scotland, no more me or 3 million other visitors spending our money in Wales and I live half my life there at my caravan but I can always relocate to an English resort.

The Sun leads on its interview with Donald Trump, in which he praises Boris Johnson in the Conservative leadership contest, saying he thinks he would do a very good job. Mr Trump also tells the paper other contenders asked for his support, although he would not provide names. His support for any candidate would be a "great endorsement", he told the paper. During the interview, Mr Trump again wades into the Brexit debate, saying the UK allowed the EU to have all the cards during the negotiations. For its main story, the Times says senior White House officials are preparing the ground for Mr Trump to meet Mr Johnson during his visit. According to the paper, British officials were asked whether it would be problematic for the president to see Mr Johnson, and his team was told that Number 10 was relaxed about any engagements that took place during Mr Trump's free time away from the official programme. The paper adds that further speculation has surrounded a potential meeting with the Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage. However, the Daily Express reports Downing Street is trying to stop Mr Farage from seeing Mr Trump.
Mr Farage tells the paper: "The president's entourage have been told by Number 10 that he's not to meet me." A Whitehall source tells the paper: "Downing Street are doing their utmost to avoid the two meeting, though of course the decision rests with Donald Trump." Home Secretary Sajid Javid, writes in the Daily Mail that - if he became prime minister - he would be prepared to take Britain out of the EU without a deal if he cannot win concessions from Brussels. In his article, he rules out another referendum, an early general election or revoking Article 50, arguing "voters have been asked their opinion more than enough times".

I wasn't saying this was good, bad, right or wrong, just that it was a topic to debate. It is easy to see this being an unintended consequence of Brexit. Many people don't share your views and are very much in favour of the Union. If it occurred it would leave England as more of a nonentity in terms of world influence. The loss of the odd caravanner in Wales, would be missed far less than the £650million per year which is currently paid by the EU.
Where are you going to fly to that doesn't have the rigmarole of changing currency, and passports?
Where is your caravan?
There are a number of logical and valid reasons why Brexit may signal the end of the Union.
Both Scotland and NI voted remain. Wales didn't, although the Welsh vote in the EU elections was in favour of remain parties.
How do you take back control of all these borders, and how much would it cost to police them?
Do you think that the fact that 9 of the 10 poorest areas in Northern Europe, just happen to be in the UK, is the fault of the EU, or our Government.
Do you think we will be worse off by losing a trade deal with the 27 other members, plus around 70 other countries?

Trump’s Tariffs Are Producing Billions, But China Isn’t Paying
More than $13 billion in duties were assessed as of Dec. 18 Trade economists say companies and consumers ultimately pay
While Trump has suggested on Twitter and in public comments that tariffs are somehow being charged to or paid by China and other countries, trade economists say that’s generally misleading. U.S. importers of record are responsible for the duties, and ultimately U.S. businesses and consumers could pay through higher costs, they say.
Trump is “suggesting this is bringing in lots of new revenue and all of the burden is falling on the Chinese,’’ said Phil Levy, senior fellow on the global economy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and a former senior economist for trade for President George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. “I think that’s mostly false.’’
Comments
Pilot Error.
It was a very silly analogy.
You usually disappear when there are questions knocking about.
This is how this usually goes.
I ask a few questions, in the interest of debate, no other reason.
You then ignore them and disappear for a bit.
You reappear and pretend they hadn't been asked.
You have clearly stated your plan.
My questions will explore whether you have thought it through properly.
All previous evidence points to the fact that you wont answer them.
I will ask them anyway.
Tariffs are effectively taxes, and make goods more expensive for consumers?
Why would you wish to increase the prices of food etc?
Do you think that tariffs might kill off our manufacturing industry?
If not, do you think that eliminating frictionless borders might do it?
How could just in time manufacturers cope?
How long before our car manufacturers relocate, after the imposition of 10% tariffs?
Do you think we will be worse off by losing a trade deal with the 27 other members, plus around 70 other countries?
Why would you think that imposing tariffs on our trade with these 97 countries is beneficial?
Why are you in favour of more taxes?
Why are you in favour of increasing prices to consumers, which will undoubtedly affect the poorest the most?
Do you understand that there will be no trade negotiations until we pass the Withdrawal Bill?
Are you aware that fishing is a two way street, and that we don't just let other member countries fish in our waters, we also fish in theirs?
<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6030042/uploads/editor/o7/159c16sfo9k1.png" alt=""
We have access to trade deals with around 70 countries, through our EU membership. Liam Fox promised to replace 40 trade deals by 29th March, this year. Ask him how that went?
WALKING AWAY WITH NO DEAL
What happens to the Irish border?
DONT CARE REALLY BUT AS THE REPUBLIC NEVER WANTED TO BE A PART OF UK INSTALL THE HARD BORDER AGAIN.
So you don't care about peace in Ireland or the Good Friday Agreement?
What happens to UK citizens living in the EU, and Europeans living in the UK?
UK CITIZENS LIVING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY FOR WORK WILL HAVE TO APPLY FOR THE RELEVANT DOCUMENTATION. THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO LIVE THERE COZ THEY LIKE IT CAN MAKE A CHOICE CANT THEY (CANT HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT)
Nothing can be decided on either until an agreement is reached
After not paying the EU what we owe them, do we expect them to remain friendly?
DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR ATTITUDE, THEY WILL STILL WANT TO TRADE
Not until they get their £46billion
Do you really think that they value a bit of money, more than Single Market integrity?
THERE IS NO INTEGRITY IN THE SINGLE MARKET ITS AN INSTRUMENT TO CAJOLE, AND CONTROL. IT ONLY FAVOURS CERTAIN COUNTRIES.
Very insightful.
Are you aware that fishing is a two way street, and that we don't just let other member countries fish in our waters, we also fish in theirs?
YES THE MED IS RIFE WITH BRITISH TRAWLERS ISNT IT ? ERM ACTYALLY NO IT ISNT NEITHER ARE THE ATLANTIC WATERS OFF FRANCE SPAIN OR PORTUGAL. APART FROM THE CHANNEL VESSELS AND A FEW STILL EAST YORKS BASED THE REST FISH IN INTERNATIONAL DEEP WATERS
The common fisheries was agreed by our Government. Why would you blame the EU, when you must know what an agreement is.
The last row on fishing was when ours were fishing off the French coast, when the French weren't allowed to fish there.
We sell the majority of our fish to the EU.
NO BUT THATS GOOD SHOULD LESSEN THE IMPACT SOMEWHAT
But we always have been able to trade with them.
What do you think Liam Fox meant when he said "If the WTO is so good, then why would anyone do a trade deal?"
LETS BE HONEST ALL THE SINGLE MARKET IS IS A GIANT DISCOUNT CARD. IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE YOU CAN STILL SHOP YOU JUST HAVE TO SHOP SMARTER
That's gibberish you don't understand what he was saying.
THE BIGGEST CAUSE OF CRISIS ATM IS THE ABYSMALLY PLANNED UNIVERSAL CREDIT AND THE UNRESTRICTED MOVEMENT OF EU NATIONALS. "PLEASE DONT SCREAM RACIST BECAUSE IM NOT BUT AT LEAST 50% OF OUR FOODBANK CLIENTS ARE FROM EASTERN EUROPE WITH DOCUMENTATION AND THE RIGHT TO BE HERE.
NOW WE HAVE A DUTY OF CARE TO THESE PEOPLE AND WE MUST SEE THAT THROUGH BUT THE ONLY WAY TO ADDRESS THE GULF IN THE WELFARE SYSTEM IS TO GET AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE INTO IT AND REDUCING THE NUMBERS THAT SUCH A SYSTEM HAS TO PROVIDE FOR. IMHO LEAVING THE EU AND RESTRICTING FREE TRAVEL IS THE ONLY WAY IN THE SHORT TO MEDIUM TERM OF ACHIEVING THESE GOALS.
There is no evidence that leaving the EU will reduce immigration. Only half out immigrants come from the EU.
The reality may come as a real shock.
If they want it let them have it, no more earn it in England spend it in Scotland, no more me or 3 million other visitors spending our money in Wales and I live half my life there at my caravan but I can always relocate to an English resort.
Immediate candidates for an E U bailout because theres zero economy to grow, apart from tourism and lets be honest If I have to through the rigmarole of passports and euros and a 5+ hour journey, I'm probably going to take a cheap flight to the sun rather than Edinburgh or the Highlands
Mr Farage tells the paper: "The president's entourage have been told by Number 10 that he's not to meet me."
A Whitehall source tells the paper: "Downing Street are doing their utmost to avoid the two meeting, though of course the decision rests with Donald Trump."
Home Secretary Sajid Javid, writes in the Daily Mail that - if he became prime minister - he would be prepared to take Britain out of the EU without a deal if he cannot win concessions from Brussels.
In his article, he rules out another referendum, an early general election or revoking Article 50, arguing "voters have been asked their opinion more than enough times".
