I am not sure that the EU negotiations have been a good advert for the benefits of us having elected representatives.

Remain would carry a new referendum by eight points, poll says

Remain would win a new Brexit poll by 54%-46%, according to analysis of one of the largest surveys carried out on the issue.
Some 20,000 people were questioned in a Survation poll for Channel 4 which estimated 105 local authority areas that voted Leave in 2016 would now be carried by the Remain side.

Perhaps I am stupid, but this is where we seem to be.
Everyone knows we will get less out of the EU as non members, than we got as members.

We will lose access to 65 EU trade deals that have been negotiated with other countries when we leave

We have to stay aligned with the EU to get some sort of trade deal, this will mean a Common Rule Book, or a Customs Union.

The plan for the Backstop seems to be the whole of the UK staying in the Customs Union.

If we are members of the Customs Union we will be unable to do free trade deals elsewhere.

So we will get less out of the EU, lose the 65 trade deals that they have in place, and not ever be able to do free trade deals ourselves.

    Who thought of that then?

No Brexit deal, no transition without Irish backstop: EU's Barnier

BRATISLAVA (Reuters) - The European Union will not conclude an exit agreement with Britain and or give London a transition period after Brexit without a deal that prevents a "hard" border in Ireland, the bloc's main negotiator said on Tuesday.

Brexit: Sainsbury’s boss Mike Coupe warns EU departure may push costs up

However, Mr Coupe also warned that Brexit was likely to push up costs.

“The reality is that it is a challenge in the sense that we currently bring things in from the European Union, about 30 per cent unencumbered, and anything that gets in the way of that will either add cost or reduce freshness,” he told the BBC.

UK to have weakest growth of all 28 EU countries over next two years, European Commission forecasts

UK economic growth will be the weakest in the European Union over the next two years and the risk of a chaotic Brexit means the outlook could be even worse, the European Commission has warned in its latest forecasts.

    Am I going mad?
Theresa Mays latest plan is to have a backstop to the backstop.
This arrangement will include a border in the Irish Sea.
The DUP aren't happy and intend to vote against this, which may result in any deal not getting through Parliament.
This will result in a no deal Brexit.
No deal, besides being catastrophic for the UK economy, will result in a border in the Irish Sea.

Are we going around in circles?

Tory minister Jo Johnson quits government over Brexit and calls for a second EU vote

Tory transport minister Jo Johnson has resigned from the government over Brexit.
Boris Johnson’s younger brother said that Theresa May’s proposed deal being finalised ‘would be a terrible mistake’ and called for a second referendum on EU membership.

I appreciate the time, trouble, and effort you put into such a well thought out post.

Did you even bother to read the article?

The Health Secretary has been on tv this week, stating that manufacturers will be asked to stockpile drugs. He pointed out that in some cases stockpiling will not be possible as some drugs have a very short shelf life, which is a worry. He also drew attention to the fact that many drugs have to be stored in refrigerators, and we don't currently have the refrigeration capacity to store enough of them, another worry.

It is now Winter. We will shortly be seeing stories on the news of people dying at home because the ambulance was delayed, people dying in ambulances in hospital car parks through a lack of available medical staff to deal with them, and people dying on trolleys in hospital corridors through a lack of beds for them to die in.

    This happens every year.

So why on earth would it come as a surprise to find that a few people died through a lack of organisation around new arrangements regarding the supply of vital drugs.

The Defence Secretary was suggesting the other day that we make up for our shortage of military strength by arming tractors and passenger ferries.
You wont be able stand on the deck on a trip to Ireland before long, in case there are a few Stewards letting off a couple of mortars, or torpedoing a nearby ship.
You will be encouraged to wear tin hats to your local Farm Shop in case the farmer is using surface to air missiles to shoot down some hostile aircraft.

I have no confidence that this Government can be relied upon to organise anything well, and that it will be a miracle if no deaths are caused by their inability to organise the supply of vital drugs effectively.

We currently import 37 million packs of medicine per month from the EU. I find it impossible to believe that they wont forget, or lose a few.

Brexit will prove to be the stupidest thing this country has done in my lifetime, by a long way.

If it actually does happen I agree with you. However, the tide does seem to be turning towards a second referendum. There may be some hope after all?

I am not sure the tide will turn enough, in time.

The Government is dead set against another vote. The Labour Party have been pathetic on Brexit, and are just really looking for an Election.

If we had an Election do they think the public would be prepared to repeat all this nonsense?

If the deal she gets does not get through Parliament, I think the Tories are more likely to elect a new leader than call for a General Election.

    Where would that leave us?

Would a new leader start negotiations all over again?

The current position is that we leave in March next year with or without a deal.

I think that there is a likelihood of us leaving, and moving into an Implementation Period without even knowing the exact details of the deal.

    A Blind Brexit.
