Great to read this, must have been quite hard to keep on going with no responses Tony. Looked like a fantastic event, I quite liked the look of the tables with a hole in them so you can put a drink in. Much better than those side tables, who knows who might come along and knock a whole mojito over you whilst you are playing in an SPT. Did they also have auto shufflers? I thought I saw them on the table. Hope it does not make me a bad guy for saying I am a little envious of all those that got to go. Looking forward to Brighton.
Great read TK so thanks for all your hard work. Well done to everyone who made it out there and even more well done to all who cashed...quads followed by quads...awesome stuff. See you all in Brighton
Fantastic thread TK, Many thanks. I'm sure there are loads like me who read the threads and don't bother to comment. Please keep them coming. Will definitely be trying to qualify if this is run again. I've not been to Vegas yet but must be fun to do it with Sky for the first time. Thanks again TK well done.
Many thanks, Tikay. I particularly liked the story about the cat getting covered in jam. I'm one of the many folks who comments but doesn't read the thread.
Thanks for the comments & feedback, we really appreciate them, it genuinely helps to know that some folks read & enjoy these updates.
I can tell you I'm a bit groggy this morning. Was a long day yesterday, started at Noon & finished about 1am, so that's 13 hours without a break or food. I have a rule never to eat when I'm working (I tend to fall asleep after eating....), so by the time it was all over I was pretty famished & well tired. Happily tired though, the day was a huge success, & that's what gives me the buzz & kicks. That applies to all the Team of course - Kirsty, Mark & James, as well as Sam who was left at home, minding the shop &, almost literally, holding the baby.
I go to bed at 2am, & at 2.45am the Rio Hotel Fire Alarm went off & rung non-stop for 20 minutes. Did we evacuate, as we should? Ha, what do you think? No chance, I just lay there waiting for it to stop. Silly really, we could have been toast.
That J-2 he is displaying turned into quads of course, barely minutes after he had entered a three bet pot with 4-3 & flopped quads.
I'm not sure I ever recall a Live Tourney ending in such dramatic fashion with quads twice inside a minute or two for the same player.
Just imagine what Team Tin Hat would say if it happened online?
I rarely comment negatively when Team Tin Hat come on the Forum with all the " I lost with Aces 23 times running" nonsense. I know what I think though......
Great to read this, must have been quite hard to keep on going with no responses Tony.
That's an interesting comment.
And yes, it can be demoralising when there is no bounce or feedback, but I've done a whole bunch of Vegas Live Updates down the years & I know that due to time difference, there will be little or no instant feedback.
I'll admit it was a relief to see a bit of feedback this morning, makes it all worthwhile.
The key stat though is "views", & it currently stands at 1,800, which, given the numbers who frequent this Forum, is pretty impressive for a single day.
It's fair to say - & we are all guilty of it these days, me included - most of us are "read only" & don't reply to stuff we perhaps should. It's how forums are these days.
I'm quite happy this morning that I did the best job I possibly could, & my Bosses can have no complaints. They might have to send me down the road with a P45 someday soon (or, fingers crossed, not-so soon) but they wont be able to say it was because I did not give my best. That's what matters to me.
The whole Team did a great job I thought, as did Venetian, & the players. Really great day, that.

Hard to imagine a better equipped Cardroom on earth, I've certainly never been in better.
Drink holders for every seat, yes.
Big plush, padded & very comfy adjustable seats on wheels, leather rail, charger points for mobile phones & iPads, everything is spot on.
Auto shufflers? Yup, every table. I meant to do a feature on them, as they are so good. Once a hand ends, the dealer scoops all the cards up, presses a button & the Auto Shuffler lid pops up, & the Dealer places the used deck in one slot & picks up the new shuffled deck from the other slot, presses the button & the lid closes, cuts the deck & on they go. So, so, good.
If you go over to 2 +2, there are whole threads - scores of pages, hundreds of posts - suggesting that Auto Shufflers are in some way rigged. Honestly, these people need to get a life. They are the same sorts who claim the RNG is somehow rigged. I mean, what's the matter with these idiots? Why would a cardroom like Venetian want to rig the deck, or why would an online poker site want to rig the RNG? What possible gain is there? How would it favour one player over another? Auto Shufflers & RNG's are blind, they can't see who is in the hand. These idiots need to get a life, they really do.

Never give up hope mate, it might just happen again next year, you never know.
I'm much more optimistic than I was initially. Let's think positive.
Keep the questions coming please, will try to answer them all.
That's it for now though, am taking Gill to Red Rock Canyon today, bit of sightseeing & chilling in the 110f heat.
Enjoy the break-you deserve it.
Class thread-as expected. Perhaps could have been meaner to the usual suspects. 110f-reminds me that on my honeymoon, went to Death Valley after Vegas-126f, which was "below average temperature"! Thought I was going to melt....
Great updates Mr T. Shame that bearace didn't make the cash, having said that. A trip to vegas, and playing poker there, that in it's self, would be enough reward,(bet he's still got a smile on is face) Well played those who cashed, and WP Sky for organising the SPT.

That is what a guilty cardroom/poker site would say though.

I'll try & reply to a few of the questions now.
In my haste to get out of Dodge last night, I plum forgot the traditional winners photo.
I'm not sure I've met granite89 before, but chatted with him a good bit yesterday, & liked him very much, proper good guy.

By the bye, the lads ran a sweepstake on the winner yesterday, with player graded according to ability, organised by railtard.
Think Matt Bates scooped the lot. MBN.
That's an interesting comment.

Thanks for all that you do.
Well done to all the players for getting there which is an awesome achievement in itself.
What happens now? players come home or do as they please?
Shame that bearace didn't make the cash,
having said that.
