Morning all, SPT Manchester starts tomorrow (Friday), so this is the Live Update thread.

Any questions fire away.

Friday & Saturday are both Day 1, whilst they will play down to a winner on Sunday.

Strictly speaking, no, but I believe you had unused seats carried over from a previous SPT? That's my understanding, anyway. I have been known to be wrong of course.

If not, I can soon ask the suits to cross your name off the list.

@Tikay10 No no, that makes sense. Was hoping that I'd somehow lucked into a seat through a prize-draw or something, e'er hopeful!

Just noticed in this thread about unused seats.
Is it correct that if you don't use your seat in the SPT event you qualified for (e.g. Manchester in my case), you can use it for any SPT event of equivalent value?
Also, if that is correct how long does the seat carry forward, until the end of SPT 2019?

Hi @Fat5tack5

Yes, if you won, say, two seats for SPT Manchester & only use one of them, you get to carry it forward to an SPT of equivalent value. I think it's open-ended (time-wise) but I'll find out & let you know in Manchester.

However, if someone wins a seat or seats to SPT Manchester & fails to show up, the seats are dead.

What time can I get to the casino and tell them I want to play day 1a? Website says open 24/7 but I imagine I can’t go at midnight.

You don't need to tell them which Day 1 you wish to play - just turn up, ideally at least 30 minutes before the start time, and you will be fine.

Just a heads up for anyone driving into Manchester for the SPT, especially for the 4pm start Friday.
There are some major long term roadworks on the inner ring road, especially around Regent Road and Dawson St. These will particularly affect anyone coming in from the west (via M602).
However anyone coming from the west (A56 past Old Trafford), south via Princess Rd (A5103) or various routes from the east, will also encounter the joy of the Mancunian Way (A57M) which has its own road works on the west side, as well as being massively affected by the Regent Rd bottleneck.
Bottom line - I'd ignore the journey times on google maps and sat navs and leave home earlier.

On the train and very much looking forward to seeing everyone. Hoping to play a bit better than I usually do at Manchester, maybe even last longer than a first hand exit on Sunday😀

The first guy who arrived here at 235 to register just wandered in.

By way of conversation, I asked him where had had come from, & in a broad South Yorkshire accent, he replied "Holland".

Turns out he's from Doncaster, works in Holland, and had been sent to Manchester on a work gig, so he thought he's play the SPT whilst here.

Bet his employer is paying for the hotel, too.

Neil Channing arrived bang on time - well 16 minutes late, but that's good for him.

First time I've ever seen him without a copy of the Racing Post under his arm & his 'phone tuned logged on to Betfair Exchange.

No horse races to bet on until next week at best, no NFL until September, the poor man is in a shocking state.
