No wonder they looked serious, soon all the chips were in the middle, both with a flush draw, Channing drawing to the nuts & gets instant service on the turn.
Play ends in 10 minutes, & at this point, 33 players remain from around 160, so the attrition rate has been monsta, despite the fact that the average stack is 120,000 with Blinds at 1,200-2,400 (ante is 2,400).
I'm gonna get to bed, been a long day, but I'll be back with a full set of overnight chip counts around 10am.
Late last night play was halted and a card randomly selected to determine how many hands would be left to play. Seven was the number and on my table it led to carnage. Three hands led to all ins and calls resulting in two eliminations. Irish Rose was unlucky enough to re raise a small blind bet only to be set all in and her pocket jacks were no match for the pocket aces. I was lucky enough to double up when my k9 all in pre was called by an A4 suited, a 9 on the flop and that was job done. Neil Channing then raised the gent who had just doubled me up, a very quick all in and Neil had to ponder for a while before calling, his pocket 8’s were enough to beat the bluff and send the chap who, three hands earlier had a very nice stack, to the rail. Two more reasonably big hands were completed before our table counted chips and went out into the early morning for a head pillow interface, long old day but enjoyable. Sunday awaits and I hope to last longer than the one hand in my only other day 2 at Manchester

Well done Nick, nice when it works out like that.
When Ambo told me the story of his late 2XUp my first reaction was "lucky s & so", but to be fair, I'm not sure I could ever make that call. Guess that is why he is a pro gambler & I'm a donkey. No gamble, see?
As I am through to Sunday, and being far from home , I thought I would offer to keep some updates as and when things happen whilst I am watching the sport on the big screens here at the casino. I am not as familiar with all the names and faces but will try and find out if anyone has specific requests. Nine minutes in and with blinds at 50 100 the first cry of “seat open” carries across the floor. One unhappy looking gent heads to the desk to rebuy, he probably has a story as we all do tat times like these.
In shocking news Tikay has played a couple of hands, AK did well not to lose loads against AA. He also had The aces but didn’t manage to win with them either. Apparently he then mucked Q10 so he could talk to someone and saw a 10 10 6 flop. Tony also points out that the last winner at Manchester “bad jumper” is at his table, he is wearing a jacket at the mo so will have to wait to see his jumper of choice today.
Misty only bought in recently and looks to have picked up a small amount of chips. Sid v just lost a pot and is down to 8k @ 100 200 Irish Rose has 30k and as usual will be there or thereabouts come the days end. Not sure who is in TPT so will wander around and pick out people I know
Craig cu 12 looks to be around 20k he is sat directly to Tommyd’s left and he appears to be around starting stack. Essexphil appears to be the same as Tommy and Dolly looks to be around 30k The prize pool is already at £55k
Spare a thought for the dealers, all of whom I have come across this weekend have been excellent. They make change and keep the action flowing reminding players on blinds and anties etc, and they all seem to be friendly. The one thing we can do, as players, to help them more than anything , is when we bet or call, we need to put our chips further forward on the table, making it easier for the dealers to reach them. I would suggest that bad backs are part and parcel of being a poker dealer

End of play should be around 1.30am. Ish.
Lovely kid, to be fair.
Channing & @TIMBER go to war, both looking very serious, whilst @pompeynic looks on.
